Another new hotel that just started business not too long ago. This hotel is nearby to Dgrande Hotel (https://sammyboyforum.com/showpost.php?p=14181531&postcount=234) (about 2 roads away) and this is a 3 star hotel. And according to map,they are both relatively nearby the Windsor Food court area.

Recently,it looks like many new hotels is coming up and what i have seen around Batam,seems like there will be even more to come. Good for the tourists as more hotels equates to bigger competition,bigger competition usually means better price? Hehehe...too bad,hotel room charges usually cannot bargain. (the charges for L hotel rooms above is as of the date of this post and inclusive of tax)

Note : Seems like there is a big mirror in the room of L Hotel.Didnt like that but those who likes to see themselves bonking their girls may love it.

I tried it few days ago when it is name as habourbay hotel, not sure i got the name correct a not. I think now renovated, room should be better.

I book from booking.com to reserve and make payment for a room. However, when i reach there. They told me no room. They offer me a bigger room but have to pay the balance to off set. I was like, WTF!!! room was reserve, if no room should offer me that room for the rate that was being paid and not ask me to offset. During that time, that hotel is the only one at that area and i do not want to move around so end up i paid and from that time on, i never stay there again.

Maybe can try M1 hotel standard room for 350 000 or zest is nice, clean and good ambience too.

This is pretty bad.....in most times....the upgrade should be free....
Dun think the hotel is inside Booking dot com liao....lol.

Judging from the way u mention, i doubt there is improvement since the past. Although is cheap, I think is a good choice to give it a miss.

To give credit, there are a few Good reviews (Agoda)...but most times we focused more on the Bad ones...and quite a few and they are in 2016.....:p

Looking at the school holiday weekdays on March 2016,the below hotels were all sold out of their rooms in one of the online hotel booking site,hehehe...

I always have the tendency to ask myself,why are they sold out? What are their similarities? What makes them MORE attractive to tourist/s than other hotels that are not sold out? And lastly,what are their tourist group type (eg families,couples,cheongster,golfer etc) there?

The answers to my questions help me with what are the main tourist type that goes to Batam on a certain time staying in certain hotels,hehehe...simple questions,makes me look for simple answers which at most time produce simple results which i need for the most basic guideline (factoring other factors too) for picking out the date to go Batam. Think simple,hehehe...

Batam on April 2016 will be yet another scene,the same for May,June,July and so on.

Now i will be moving forward to booking a desire hotel as well as making my trip arrangement.

Anyway, I don't see prices coming down but more options means less opportunities for hotels to inflate prices during peak seasons.
Lesser occupancy at some hotels might mean more leeway to get check in if arrive early (provide got pre book).

Btw, it is high time KAHA include new hotels into their list.

Yea other factors will be SG companies affiliated with those mentioned hotels which gives very good rates as incentives ($$45-50 for usual $60-80 rooms)

I had some friends that booked through their company and the rate was a huge difference. Some of the companies even paid for their rooms.

Personally, I think they can make the review for hotels to appear higher. For example, out of 10 reviews, 5 good, 5 bad. They can "randomly" picked all 5 good and only 1 bad, which will give a impression that it is very good. I believe other hotels booking do the same things

That why I checked other websites like TripAdvisor and noted the vast difference in the reviews.

But I agree reviews are subjective and we tend to focus on the -ve ones

But Trip Advisor also got good reviews.....

Anyway, I also look at what are the bad points.....Staff dun understand language or slow in responding or bad location or so so breakfast.....maybe still can accept.
But when it comes to the hygiene part.....dirty rooms, bad smell, dirty smelly bedsheets...yellow water.....I definitely cannot accept.

But the best and truthful reviews is still from our beloved Bros here.....:D

2 days ago, went to this new family spa called Kalea which was opened in Oct 2015, somewhere near to the busy junction of Jl. Raja H Fisabilillah and Jl. $$$$$mana Bintan. Kalea Spa has a Balinese designed and with the burning of aroma oil, it created a warm and welcome feeling. The customer service endeavours by the lady boss and her staff added a tinge of pampering effect to the already cajoling environment. They provided free transport to pick me up from Batam Centre Ferry Terminal to the spa and thereafter sent me to anywhere within Nagoya/Baloi/Jodoh/Utama areas that I desired. I have chosen a 2 hours Mineral Shine (1.5 hrs massage & 0.5 hr body scrub) which cost Rp430k. By Batam standard, it is expensive but let's not forget, it is a spa and couple with free transport to & fro. I would think it is reasonable.

The therapist assigned to me came from Jakarta and before she proceeded, she showed me a watch indicating 11.44 am. She provided Balinese style massage in a detail and complete fashion from rubbing, kneading and patting to stimulate circulation, increase suppleness and relieve tension. I would say good work done by the therapist for a complete relaxation. Then follow by body scrub using grain like ingredient added with milk for some watery effect to rub onto the body. At all time the therapist never left the room. After the 2 hrs treatment, she again showed me the watch which indicated 1.47 pm. Hence, a complete 2 hrs spa with no slack by the therapist.

Upon leaving the room feeling rejuvenated, I would say (for me) the price of Rp 430k is worth it.

Upon payment and having some small talk with the Spa owner, I went over to next door C Anambas Kopitiam for lunch. Food was good and the price was even better. I ordered Nasi Goreng Petai Bilis (Rp 20k) and Avocado Milo (Rp 20k) for a good lunch.:)

Maybe Bro Naka went during peak period, or hit Batam at a very late hour so the room reserve was given to an earlier customer.
He is not a walk-in customer. Hotel was pre-book already.
Under Booking dot com rules, no show will mean the hotel will deduct the $ from his CC.
I still hold the view the hotel is at fault here. Peace out.

After gaining much knowledge that you guys share I think its time to give back some.This post is to share my first hand experience on my trip to batam on 12 of march.I would also like to take this opportunity to learn from the veterans and hope first timers can learn from my experience and dont make those mistakes.

Took the 910 ferry from habourfront to habourbay and took a cab to formosa to check-in.Tried to walk to the main road to catch a cab but the uncle wont budge on my attempted bargain and even show me the price list, ended up paying 50k.

Reached formosa shortly but room was not ready.So i walk around lucky plaza and opp formosa to scout for money changer.Most of the rates were between 9300-9350.The chinese lady money changer opp formosa saw me scouting so offered 9400 which is the highest i could find. just a note for those who want to change higher rates i notice nagoya mall main entrance to the left there is a money changer + Jewry store that offered the highest a among those around that area at 9410 as of today.

After changing money i went to nagoya mall and brought some essential stuff like huge bottled water ,CD and a "vitamin" pill (for those curious i brought from century at the Basement).There after i went back to formosa hotel area and walked around to familiarize myself ended up having bakutteh at one of the stalls(personally dont really like the taste of batam BKT).

1200pm checkedin to the hotel and got my welcome drink.went to checkup the room while still waiting for the bro to reply me about meeting up since piror to the day he asked for my number but I dont have his.while waiting i looked up some of bronono guide on booking joints(which i intend to go to the 3 safest join as recommended by bronono) and also sample itinerary since i have not plan how i am going to spend my time there.

1pm went out to look for my companion for the night. 1st stop New barry since it is the nearest to formosa took me about a 6 minute walk. went in saw a group of guys sitting there and chatting, i just sat outside and wait for the receptionist (there is no receptionist i grew bored or waiting and just went in to see) a malay uncle greeted me and show me the girls. unfortunately i do not speak behasa,so while looking around the uncle keep on shooting me with behasa while the girls were also chatting among themselfs. didnt see any that i fancy and didnt really feel good with all the pressure on me so i make a quick escape.

Next i went on to Goldbird,took me around a 10min walk.when i reach lailai hotel as stated in bronono guide i was drenched in sweat walk in circles but could not find any gold bird.(just a note Goldbird does not have a signboard that says goldbird its just a dark glass door) one of the taxi guy saw me walking about and ask if i wanted taxi,i turned him down and asked if he knew where gold bird is located.he brought me to goldbird and told me that goldbird girls got many problems 2hrs and would disappear.

He then took me to a joint(name is 28 or flower in indo) with a chinese lady boss that seems friendly. into me to the girls.i asked which one she recommend that has no problems.recommend me 2 girls that i dont really fancy.
saw a girl that was quite cute and to my liking but was taken.saw another one that was also quite sweet but boss told me that she only worked for a few days and she cant guarantee she is good.so ended up with the one she recommended.she quote me 1.5 juta tried to bargain but she claims that even if she wanted to lower the girl dont want. since there was a special occasion to me on that day i took it.

initial plan was to book the girl and have her sent to my room at 5pm while i go have a massage.but since i have spent my budget for girl and massage on the girl (also the fact that boss says she knows massage as well). took her back and relax for a while and she gave me a massage followed by some cuddling and one thing led to another.....

appearance: skinny ,long hair,im guessing a B size ,with braces and a tattoo behind her back.
massage:very good! gave me a 2 hr massage comparable to the massage i got at a proper massage parlor.(note that im not a expert in massage i have only been to 1 massage)
personality: relatively good but the use of google translate to communicate makes it feel less personal.
first event: started off slow with lots of foreplay.followed by riding 5/10
after that i decided to let her rest since she complained that everyday booking she is tired so i ask her to go to sleep. i took a ojek(bargain 30k from formosa>A2>formosa, it was pretty fun since its my first time riding a motorbike and from that time onwards i decided that ojek was the right way to travel since its cheap n exciting) tabao some BBQ stringray,satay,fired oyster.
After i came back I think something got to her. she went to sleep and ignored me all the way from 4.30pm till 1.30am i thought it was a goner. luckily pigletdidi was up all night and we chatted like he was my long lost buddy
second event: at 1am when i gave up was about to sleep, she came over and hug me with her hands and feet. a little foreplay and she suggested doggy.probably the best minutes of my life 8.5/10

total spending around sgd250 excluding hotel and ferry

Walked over to New Berry from there at 12.35pm and was greeted by the Chinese Papi but there were only 10-15 girls available mostly milfs and only 1-2 SYT. Only 1 caught my eye and was quoted 1.6m to which I bargained down to 1.3m inclusive of ojek charges for the girl to be delivered later at 4.30pm. Papi assured me of her service and claims she is young and joined them less than a week ago so I made eye contact with her, trusting my instincts and took the plunge.

Honestly the movie rates without snacks or drinks are so cheap that I might be tempted to go on a movie marathon if they were screening a range of interesting movies, but we all know that's not our sole purpose at Batam

Sillypore movie tickets was S$12...in fact i rarely have time to watch a movie,only in Batam,hehehe... If there is time,a good movie screening in Batam is definitely worth the watch. And at a much lower expense.

For me, no problem as I usually walk from ferry terminal to formosa. From formosa to da Vienna is about 5 to 10 mins more

Booking made and payment accepted still not considered as done deal? Thought Bros are talking about done deal, but end up, no room when they show up at the hotel. This is definitely the hotel's fault.

I've an unhappy experience with Amir Hotel too. Was going to board the next ferry back to Singapore, when my regular called me to meet up at J.CO.

What happens next is both of us proceeding to Amir Hotel for ST. When booking the room, they actually had the balls to tell me using POSB credit for payment will incur extra charges. And I only have that card with me. Although it's just $10 +/-, it's still daylight robbery.

But, faced with paying $10 extra and a hot pussy waiting to be fucked, I just bottled it and pay up. Lol... Small head and KC made the decision.

Da Vienna is a good hotel to stay in. Have you booked your room already? I ask becos their basic room was sold out on some hotel booking sites. And their price has gone up due to the school holiday season. Just notice the hotel room's reservation site has been taken down for maintenance. (main site still there) :(

I am planning to visit Octopus Spa after lunch.

I was thinking to ask you to drop Octopus after your lunch and we all go to another "massage shop" instead and save Octopus spa for the next day together before you head back to Sillypore. I mean i arent sure what time you are leaving for Harbour Bay the next day but i will be staying for 3D2N and likely head to Atlanta or Octopus the next day after my tired OTOT 1st night. (do not reveal any of your timing in public forum becos i wont be,we can chat via PM if needed to)

Atalanta Spa has become my 1st stop whenever I go Batam and I dont take taxi at all in Batam, basically by walking using Google Map, from ferry terminal to hotel and from hotel to ferry terminal.

I used to do that in my first few trips to batam too (as written in my past summaries,i walked a lot). Soon,you wont be needing google map anymore,hehehe...the maps were mostly in my brain now after walking for a while in Batam.

From ferry terminal to Formosa will take about 15-20mins walk depend on your walking speed.
It will be a good exercise too :D By walking, you will tend to pay more attention to the surroundings and can find some rare places too. Thats how i found Dynasty 99 from my last trip

Agreed with you on this. But i take taxi becos i wish to catch the best time for the things i wanted to do w/o the crowd to 1st comes in before me. I dont like crowd. Basically,i already know what i wish to do,and i wish to do them right on target in my own definition of a perfect timing,hehehe...

Walking is good exercise,so is bonking..hehehe..i just dont wish to go to a massage shop to relax and later have to sweat (and tired myself) all the way back to hotel again. Massage and tonic food helps me to revitalize after some good bonking exercise,it helps to keep me going on (and on and on...) the 2nd and sometime even for a 3rd night of "intense bed room exercises". ;)

I have seen the new Dynasty99 many times. Even before it was mentioned in the forum. The thing is everytime i passes by it,the railing-pulled-down-metal-door is always shut becos its still in the early part of the day. Old Dynasty99 opens at 1pm,but this new one apparently dont.

i tink every business review site is same,jus like tis forum. Paid sites usually will censor off bad reviews. I prefer to read both good & bad reviews & weigh em for accuracy.

Trust me (or better trust your doctor, just ask him): it's effective and safe (at least when one does not have serious problems of infection, which must be treated with antibiotics after doctor counseling).

- About your question, Loperamide is the substance, and any REPUTABLE pharmaceutic industry can produce it and sell it. You can buy a cheaper product of any industry, as long as you TRUST it and you know it's reputable. There is not a better or a worse Loperamide (or any other pharmaceutic substance, including Sildenafil, since we are on SB) depending on the pharmaceutic industry which produces it. Instead, there is a REAL or a COUNTERFEITED (or even expired, or damaged due to wrong storage) product.

I retain my personal opinion that, if I take a taxi from Harbour Bay to Formosa, I pay 50k on my arrival (which is a generous amount) and I don't need to spend time to bargain. This is the advice I give to my friends who visit Batam: be generous with drivers, because they live with that, they have a family to sustain, but do not overpay. You do not agree? Ok. We can be both happy anyway.
I took a taxi maybe one hundred times in my 20-25 visits to Batam (min 2 per visit, plus 1-2-3 times if I come back from pub or disco at night with a girl), plus hundreds of ojek rides, and I never had a single problem. Always smiles and good feeling with drivers (to be honest, one time I had a problem, but I left a dishonest driver, who wanted 70k from Newton to Formosa, alone and angry with himself).

Once they can find what they are looking for and able to adapt to their culture (and environment) ,then THAT is where the REAL FUN truly begins,hehehe...

The next thing will be your after-trip mentality, it will be up to you to think if its right or not right on how you spend after reading the comments here. It is after all your freedom and choice to spend your own money at your own comfort level. From my perspective,you did pay very much more than you need to. I can learn better if i were to recognize my own mistake/s. And once i know i made mistake/s,i just have to avoid making them again in my next trip.

Taxi drivers need to head home to sleep too. I will be very worried if a taxi driver worked 24 hours a day and dont rest well enough yet still be driving me around. My usual coordination with taxi drivers were by phone. Example,i need a ride from point A to point B at whatever time,i called them in advance to come at that time.Upon reaching my destination,i will inform them to come back to point B later to fetch me after certain hours etc etc.

Far distance like Sekupang,the driver has nowhere to go to ,so they have to wait.

I first step foot to Batam at about 15+ years ago. Went with 2 friends.
Alight at Batu Ampar.....immediately swarm with drivers.
Stay at a not so great hotel.....musky carpet.....n the window...appears to be facing a abandoned place....at night kind of looks like cemetery.
I didnt take any chicks.....and the chicks doesnt appeal to me.
Went to change money at a store....and the guard was armed w a shotgun!
Where we went, we got stares from locals.....like we are intruding their place....loads of children beggars.....my friend told me dun give any money....many beggars will appear and surround you.
We took lunch at the hotel itself because we dont dare go anywhere.....the food taste like crap!
I couldnt sleep at night, TV was all indo channels and was fuzzy.

Everything legal in Sillypore seems to be illegal in Indonesia and everything illegal in Sillypore seems to be legal there. Believe it or not,we have to watch Chinese video tape (or even own it) with our headphones on becos it is illegal to watch them on TV,hehehe....we even have to smuggle Chinese Newspaper thru the custom of Jakarta air port (by the way,there was no air-con in Jakarta air port back then). It is actually "quite legal" to own guns at home and my parent has quite a collection of it in their hostels and factories and we are allow to fire the guns off in hotel playgrounds too (yes,as a kid and what we did attracted a lot of attention from the resort hotel staffs as many of them were watching us). Well,as a kid,i was kind of impress by all of these...hehehe...

Back then,my parent's colleagues who is indo Chinese taught me, "nothing is cheap" in Indonesia when living there,hehehe...whatever things w/o a price tag,ask for a discount and bargain off with AT LEAST 50% off,hehehe...thats 30+ years ago of course.

My last visit to Batam was from Jan 27 to Feb 4 2016.
Every night I went to Pacific in that week, I saw those dancers. They usually start the show after 2:30am. I hope they are still there (it's 2:20am now in Batam. They might be dancing RIGHT NOW while I write this :p)

As I wrote already in my post of 08-02-2016, some years ago the dancers at Pacific looked sexy only from distance. Seen close, they were not. Several of them even appeared to be heavy chewers (because of obat abuse, not because of gum in mouth). I saw one of them even waiting guests as FL sometimes, near the bar after hours.
Now, the dancers are DOLLS: sexy Indonesian faces, curvy lips, high cheekbones, flat nose, black long hair. I was mesmerized.

Outside my continent, I have visited and I have played our hobby in Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Panama, San Salvador, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Ghana, Uganda, Bangladesh, India, China (PRC and Taiwan), Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and, yes, Batam. Call me stupid, but the only places where I go back as much as I can are Colombia and Batam. I feel like at home in both places, although they are two different planets, really.

In all my past visits to Batam (I must count the stamps on passports, but they should be around 25 visits, each from 3 to 10 days), I succeeded to fuck on the average more than 1 girl per day. Not bad, considered my abstinence in my country. What does that mean? Sometimes no girl, sometimes 1, 2, or even 3 (when I had a 3some and another later or earlier). Most girls from Pacific, Newton or NoName, some others from massage joint, some others from food court, mall or other places.

It will probably take someone who is new about 20 mins to roam around and later walk there. The exact location is almost directly behind DC Mall (Diamond City Mall) and the nearest popular hotel were Utama Hotel and Pagoda Hotel.

Still unsure (or become lost?),simple take an Ojek (motorbike taxi) from any nearby hotel to DC mall and figure out how to go behind the Mall building. I didnt suggest to take ojek to Pagoda Hotel or Utama Hotel becos the ojek might stalk you all the way to Bunga. However,dropping off at Utama Hotel or Pagoda Hotel should work just as good.

Go Utama area near, Nagoya area also good, CItyWalk is just next door,....
Go tua Pek Gong windsor also good....
For newbie, it's 10 storey is a major advantage because you confirm can find back the hotel.
The 11th floor open air top is great for night viewing...but I didn't went last time....hope to go.
Indoor fitness room, Spa massage (price a bit high though).
The lift need a room card to activate.....some basic security.

I would like to equate the location of Biz Hotel is the same as Jingzhou 荆州 in The warring 3 kingdoms era.:p

I dont like to be in a position where i will be held ransom,hehehe...so if there is a ferry terminal where i can walk from where i wish to go,it will be my preferred choice. "30k/40k to Kaha,then to Formosa",i asked the taxi driver/s. If he is ok,i will step in. If not,i still have other options.

How i wish Horizon Ferry going to Harbour Bay has the NTUC card promotion,hehehe...if so,it will almost definitely kill Batam Center's ferry market,hehehe...

Safety,getting things done at the right timing has always been my priority during traveling to Batam hence i choose to drop at Harbour Bay. Let's also not forget ,Batam custom has send about 50 Sillyporean tourist back to Sillypore EVERY week. Right timing,right place to go = better price,less crowd,better choices (most time)

In Batam,i find out what i like to do and do it the way i like it. I try changing the environment to suit me,but if i cannot do it then i adjust myself to adapt to it.

Hi Guys, just wondering if any of the bros here experienced this before.Sorry a newbie here.

Last Friday night, I was smoking outside of the entrance to the pacific disco building with some of my friends, waiting for more friends to join us to go to the disco. For me,going to Batam is like going to Sentosa,just that you will need a passport with at least 6 months validity. Most newbie's main worry is the language barrier,but well...most people you will be meeting will know some broken English. Otherwise hand sign language will work just about as good.

The 3 safe joints were New Berry,Gold Bird and Bunga. I called this 3 safer places becos the runaway rate were the lowest among all other overnight booking joints. (it does not means this 3 booking has no runaways) And the service standard were pretty much consistent. If you are into SYT,then be prepare for the lack of service and some princess sickness.

(My definition of SYT = Sweet,young (around age 22 and below),pretty,slim)

My main worry for newbies were expectation,hence i always advise them to keep expectation low,be humble,talk nice and avoid being loud spoken. Everyone will know you are a Sillyporean or comparable to a China man once your conversing volume can reach the next table in an indoor restaurant,hehehe...which usually were deem as not-nice by the locals or even another Sillyporean.

That hotel is now the cheapest in harbourbay area. They kept advertise and kept renovate but cannot attract customer.

I think it is the cheapest 3 star hotel in Batam. :D

They only need to provide a little more normalized service standard,no need to be even classified as good,then good flow of customers will auto flows in since their location were pretty good. But well...i think the hotel management fail to understand this point.

Yes,the Business class lounge is in Harbour Bay after your passport got chopped,you may then go in to have some refreshment while you wait. Nothing fantastic in it tho.It will be considered good to me if there is a smoking point in it (but no,there is none). What i am looking for in Business Class is the priority to move fast during peak season/time. I dont rush when in Batam.i usually move at much slower pace and more patient as compare when i am in Sillypore. But i just dont like crowd. If eating in Batam is crowded,go see girls crowded,massage places ,window shopping also crowded...well...it will be disappointing for me,hehehe...so business class fit into this criteria for someone like me who take-own-sweet time to move around and yet didnt like crowd.

Base on record or part of summaries written almost 2 years ago,formosa used to be about S$63,today...hehehe...about S$50. Even Swiss-inn Baloi and Gideon hotel prices has come down too,hehehe...

Lesser occupancy at some hotels might mean more leeway to get check in if arrive early (provide got pre book).

True...the way i see it,i think over the next few years,many more hotels will be coming up as Batam (aka Indonesia) laxing their visa rules to more countries. With this,i am looking at a stronger Indo rupiah. Well,thats unless something unpredictable crops up somewhere in their country.

They do,but price difference wont be too far apart becos the market now favors the hotels when more tourist are visiting Batam. If Sin$ weakens or stregthen a lot,Kaha is a good option for hotel booking.

Example,if Sin$ weaken,most hotel booking site will go higher like formosa S$55/night. If it strengthen,the price will be about S$50/night. Kaha over the last about 1.5 years has remian at 475k rupiah.

I think they've started having Wi-Fi at rooms level. I was there 2-3 months back, had a room and saw a sign Wi-Fi wording outside the lift. But, since I have my own prepaid card, I didn't pay attention to it.

Safety,getting things done at the right timing has always been my priority during traveling to Batam hence i choose to drop at Harbour Bay. Let's also not forget ,Batam custom has send about 50 Sillyporean tourist back to Sillypore EVERY week. One of my all time GREATEST FEAR in Batam,their legal authorities (Police,Soldiers and Custom officers).


Tat was becos these "sillyporean" were making a lot of noise while waiting 4 their PP chopped by the btm custom officers. I'm surprise they sent back 50 pple a week instead of in a month. From then on,i stop gng via BC. I'll rather go by Sekupang ferry terminal if there's an unlikely event tat HB terminal got no ferry seat slot.

2 days ago, went to this new family spa called Kalea which was opened in Oct 2015, somewhere near to the busy junction of Jl. Raja H Fisabilillah and Jl. $$$$$mana Bintan. Kalea Spa has a Balinese designed and with the burning of aroma oil, it created a warm and welcome feeling. The customer service endeavours by the lady boss and her staff added a tinge of pampering effect to the already cajoling environment. They provided free transport to pick me up from Batam Centre Ferry Terminal to the spa and thereafter sent me to anywhere within Nagoya/Baloi/Jodoh/Utama areas that I desired. I have chosen a 2 hours Mineral Shine (1.5 hrs massage & 0.5 hr body scrub) which cost Rp430k. By Batam standard, it is expensive but let's not forget, it is a spa and couple with free transport to & fro. I would think it is reasonable.

This Spa looks good,but the set back is, it is more towards Batam Center area. Batam center area seems to have lots of good eateries and spa. How i wish i will be able to recce all of them. But if i hope to start in that area,i will 1st have to find a series of places there that does "special services" and a convenient hotel to stay in,hehehe...

Convenient in the sense that i reach Batam Center,within 15 to 20 mins,i can walk to a certain hotel which has basically everything under one roof (i often work hard in the beginning so that i can be lazy later). Everything under one roof means massage shopssss and eateriesss with and w/o special within 5 mins walk away,movie theatre,malls and hopefully even booking jointsss. KTV however is optional,hehehe...

Nowaday,if there is no massage shop around the area i stayed in,i "bring" the massage shop i like along with me,if there is no booking joint,i also try to "bring" one with me ,same applies for some eateries. But it is currently unsustainable in the long run due to its distance and time required.

The therapist assigned to me came from Jakarta and before she proceeded, she showed me a watch indicating 11.44 am. She provided Balinese style massage in a detail and complete fashion from rubbing, kneading and patting to stimulate circulation, increase suppleness and relieve tension. I would say good work done by the therapist for a complete relaxation. Then follow by body scrub using grain like ingredient added with milk for some watery effect to rub onto the body. At all time the therapist never left the room. After the 2 hrs treatment, she again showed me the watch which indicated 1.47 pm. Hence, a complete 2 hrs spa with no slack by the therapist.

Upon leaving the room feeling rejuvenated, I would say (for me) the price of Rp 430k is worth it.

With a comparable price with Spa Secret and even some other top tier spa providing the almost equivalent standard of service,i would say this place is a good choice for me if i were to stay around that area. I believe the plus point currently is they are new and they will remain as new for this coming 2016 and towards 2017. The good about being new is their therapist were usually much more hardworking,their equipment and facilities were new...and most importantly,not crowded and likely more hungry for customers than other shops hence their service standard would be close to top notch. (monthly overhead maintenance can be quite high for such shops)

Hunger game? Game of Throne? Hehehe...my kind of game.

After gaining much knowledge that you guys share I think its time to give back some.This post is to share my first hand experience on my trip to batam on 12 of march.I would also like to take this opportunity to learn from the veterans and hope first timers can learn from my experience and dont make those mistakes.

Took the 910 ferry from habourfront to habourbay and took a cab to formosa to check-in.Tried to walk to the main road to catch a cab but the uncle wont budge on my attempted bargain and even show me the price list, ended up paying 50k.

When i walked out from the arrival hall at the Batam ferry terminal,getting a taxi isnt my priority. I would like to move around,head to the Horizon Ferry at Harbour Bay to get my boarding pass for my return to SG few days later. I walked,and when i walk...many will ask me if i need a taxi. Each approach by these people (porters,ojeks,taxi drivers etc),i will smile and quote them my price taking maximum 5 secs each approach. If they are ok,i will go...if not,i just keep walking to Harbour Bay Mall,later out of Harbour Bay itself and at times until i reach Kaha and then Formosa. (I will usually be able to get a taxi at my price by the time i reached Harbour Bay Mall)

And I cannot do the same in Batam Center (i may die walking to my hotel,hehehe...).

Reached formosa shortly but room was not ready.So i walk around lucky plaza and opp formosa to scout for money changer.Most of the rates were between 9300-9350.The chinese lady money changer opp formosa saw me scouting so offered 9400 which is the highest i could find. just a note for those who want to change higher rates i notice nagoya mall main entrance to the left there is a money changer + Jewry store that offered the highest a among those around that area at 9410 as of today.

Have you check your interval timing between changing at the opposite Formosa and the one outside Nagoya Hill Mall?

What i am trying to say is,going to a money changer in an interval of about an hour difference can always get different rate in Batam. By the time you reach the jewelry shop money changer which gives you 9410/SGD,the one opposite Formosa could already be going at 9450/SGD which you may have miss.

I have tested this a few times during the beginning of my Batam trip using a ghost-to-ghost hookup method having friends in different part of Nagoya Hill Mall outside (even inside) money changer and myself being in opposite Formosa's money changer. At almost the same min,we checked the rate together at different places.

No need to believe what i say now,in future after a few more trips to Batam,you can then testify it yourself,hence in my last trip,i shared exchange rates of one money changer in different parts on the same day.

I bought essential items from Hyper Mart in Nagoya Hill Mall too,except big bottles of mineral water. Simple reason,i am lazy to carry the few big bottles of water back to hotel. And at the hotel,1st storey...turning left from hotel main entrance and keeping left w/o walking out of the hotel perimeter,there is a provision shop that sells essential items,hehehe...i bought my heavy items from there.

Its always good to walk around,to familiarize the area,especially near where you are staying.

Yes, the 3 safe joint is New Berry,Gold Bird and Bunga.These 3 places were the main booking joint with the least runaways and more consistent service according to my own personal record. Once you "conquered" this 3 joints,next trip maybe even next next trip...feel free to up your game to the next level,hehehe...and then make comparison thereafter.

Safety is always one of my main priority.

1pm went out to look for my companion for the night. 1st stop New barry since it is the nearest to formosa took me about a 6 minute walk. went in saw a group of guys sitting there and chatting, i just sat outside and wait for the receptionist (there is no receptionist i grew bored or waiting and just went in to see) a malay uncle greeted me and show me the girls. unfortunately i do not speak behasa,so while looking around the uncle keep on shooting me with behasa while the girls were also chatting among themselfs. didnt see any that i fancy and didnt really feel good with all the pressure on me so i make a quick escape.

Every booking joint also will have some pushy okt,it really depend if you would meet them. Learn to deal with it. Some OKTs even splash water from a pail upon customer leaving their shop w/o making a booking (not aiming directly at the customers) as a significant to ward off bad luck. In one of my summary,i stated that many feared entering the booking joint or if you read the old thread,booking joints were being described like a "crocodile den".

Go beyond the "crocodile den" level, Heaven on earth awaits you,hehehe...if you ever read my Batam group trip terms and conditions,the "punishment" for joining in my group trip w/o reading my guides and remembering them during a "test" by me is to WALK IN to a booking joint ALONE to ask for name card w/o booking the girls. Nothing to fear for season Batam cheongsters of course,but it can be a stumbling block for most Batam newbies who are like me who dont understand Bahasa Indo, hence i always say this in the thread,my Batam guide/s was written base on a newbie mentality for newbies. Newbies need to read.

Gold Bird,New Berry and Bunga is the 3 main booking joint i knew that provide a more consistent standard of service and rarely has runaways. All booking joints has runaways,just that this 3 has minimum. The method how one pick their girl applies when i say their standard of service is consistence too.

It will be very much lower if you planned to stay in a 1 star or 2 star hotel in Batam. If you are a 1st timer,you spend "normal",but if you are in Batam more than twice,then you actually spend quite a lot after i added in S$48 ferry and S$50 hotel.

I believe somewhere along the line,you paid some extras. Could it be the girl's next morning's tip? Could it be her meal? Maybe you did some shopping,hehehe...well,this part only you know.

For a short-distance taxi ride (Nagoya, Jodoh, Harbour Bay), yes you're right the standard fee is 50k, but negotiable down by hard bargainers (do you know any? :p) to 40k or less (in HB, they pay the entrance fee).

For the ojek, the standard fare for a short-distance ride (Nagoya, Jodoh,...) is 10k. I suggest to pay 15k to be not stingy with a poor worker. 30k for Formosa-A2-Formosa could be ok. I mostly pay 15k for a single ride. 20k could be given at night or if one wants to be very generous. 30k for a single ojek ride is too much.

If it is 2d1n trip and you used him more than 8 times it's worth it for the convenient.

In comparison of if you were to take a taxi of 4/6 seaters for each trip.

And i think you meant IDR 800, 000.. And of the trip after all the commission he received from the shops you went, the spa you went, he would have earned in total roughly 1-1.3 Juta.

Rate about IDR 500,000.. If you realise in Nagoya area, there are many groups of Taxi Driver sitting around everywhere. Most of these groups, at least one of them will be driving MPV or have contacts who drives..

IDR 250,000 for the car rental, IDR 250,000 for the driver.. As eventually he will get his additional income through commission..

For Ojek nowadays within Jodoh-Nagoya-Peniun i pay 15k just like you. 10k is achievable though.. I realized that most of the time if you ask them for price or quote them a price, at the end the final price will usually fall between 20-30k.. Definitely most will oblige as it's still cheaper than Taxi for single traveler.

For us foreigner, our rate increase/reduce by 5k in negotiation. For locals, it's by 1k in negotiation :D

My cheapest ride was 7k for a 5 mins ride.

For Taxi will be 25k-40k within Jodoh-Nagoya-Peniun, for taxi it is a must for me to confirm the price with the driver before entering his taxi.

The carpark entrance fee for taxi in harbourbay is 2k. Usually i add it on top of the agreed price for the taxi driver.

I didnt have much info on this Horizon Villa Resort even tho i have taken most part of the information from agoda and booking.com,in fact there wasnt even a price tag there (it may be new). The price was estimated base on the same thing from a Chinese website that say 868 rmb which works out to be around S$180 and i didnt know if tax is included,so i put up the pricing as "should be" below S$200 on a rough guide.

I will be looking into this Resort's info and update it if there is anything newer (or if someone found something more updated than what i have). Seems like a lesser known place to me which wasnt mentioned in any of the previous Batam thread/s and importantly,seems to look good too.

Thats of course for those who has interest staying at Nongsa area,hehehe...

Come to think of it,even at S$180 still considered quite expensive. Yes,even if its shared by 2 pax since there are 2 rooms. One of the 2 rooms were in 2 single bed which was not on the photo posted.

My habit in Batam is,i dont change every S$ in one go becos i know most Money Changer during different parts of the day usually have different rates. I move around,remembers their rate (usually quite the same for most shops nearby). Go to A shop tells them B shop gives me at X price,goes to B shop tells them A shop gives me XX price and later goes to C shop and tell them A and B shop gives me XXX price.

It was only until nearly 1 year ago,i start to devise my own "play" where i only go to one or perhaps two money changer shops. They are regular shops,they kind of know me well enough,they knew they will lose me and my long list of friends if they did not give me their BEST (which i always remind them). I compared prices of exchange rate via sms from different shops instead of physically walking there,hehehe...

I also bargain in money changer occasionally too. (they know i always wanted 10k/SGD,hehehe...which is of course a joke)

FR for 25th's trip and also review of The L Hotel Entertainment

First time going on an public holiday/long weekend , definitely don't like the crowd , pretty hard to chiong.

Started the day by taking Majestic Ferry and encountered delay due to ferry broke down , delayed by another 40mins. Reached Batam Center at 12pm. Big long queues at the custom. Mood slowly changing due to having headache.

Hit the road after meeting up with my driver , directly to the joints just to try if the cewek I book last trip was still available. First joint was Bunga definitely , saw her the moment I entered , happy for a moment and the next moment she approached me with a sad face clinging to my arm then I was told by mami she's booked 5mins ago. Took her wechat and walked out with disappointment.

Next up was MM/Indah2 , totally no stock , 4-5 Milfs. Papi said public hols the better lots was already booked very early.

Then lastly New Berry , quality subpar , I chose mine there , 21YO SYT which one of my acquaintance booked before previously(did not realized until I fetch her and looked up close and she recognized us, super awkward moment for me)

Skipped Goldbird this time round after so many disappointments going there.

Bunga has the best variety out of the 4 we went. One common thing for all joints on that day was huge price hikes , Papi/Mami casually speaks with 1.5-1.6 Juta for SYTs.(Peak period)

Now for the new L hotel. (One month old , according to the cute chinese/indo speaking receptionist whom looks like Thai) It used to be an old hotel , I forget its name , Grand something , now refurbished to the current.

Very unlikely to go back again until changes are made. Not recommended for the time being given benefits of doubt of being new.

Some infos below.

-Booked 2 junior suite online and only got 1 , lan lan bo bian 1 of us has to take deluxe room. Deluxe = RP420k , JSuite = 580k , Deposit = 200k
-Receptionist were quite green and poor in english , thankfully one of them can speak mandarin.
-Has to pay upfront and place deposit upon checking in(counter was choked with people waiting to check in)
-Wifi was ok on ground level , 4th level suite has NO WIFI yet(thank god my girl has google translate) , 5th level deluxe room has very very weak signal.
-Lift is operated by room cards when going up to only your own room storey. Only 1 lift is available.
-Spa facilities operating (a piece of coupon issued upon checking in , unlimited access as long you're staying in the hotel , massage not available yet) Located at ground level , beside the lift. Went late and no time to try it out.
-Exotic Pub beside is not available yet.
-Deluxe room has no safe box while the Junior suite has. Junior Suite is super spacious. They do provide 1 bathrobe thou , aircon was strong and then the huge Mirror beside the bed. Room feels and smells like Ikea.(wooden scent)
-The bed was.....leveled by 4 weak legs and squeaking sound can be heard when bonking(dam annoying) due to the weak platforms shaking.
-Dirty paint marks can be seen on the window sides and the view was pretty bad(place was situated behind the main roads)
-Walking distance to tua peh kong temple/Windsor foodcourt.
-Breakfast variety was not more than 8 but tasty enough for me.
-Has security but outside was pretty dark and isolated , recommend not to walk at night. Quiet serenity during daytime.
-Staffs were polite and approachable.

This hotel reminds me of my stay in Jakarta. Needs more polishing on the poor aspects especially it's Wifi , like a half-done hotel in operation.

My mood and headache was healed by my lovely cewek with her 200% GFE. Had great bonks , a good sleep but didn't get to catch Batman vs Superman due to overcrowding. Bad experience for my friend thou, mainly lies with his cewek. Very soon no accompany to batam liao :(

On the contrary,i actually dont feel Indo Chinese had a hard life during those years i visited Indonesia (i envy them more). But i can see Indoneisan Chinese were really a hardworking lot. Just look at Meximo Pub wan tan mee noodle boss,even CNY 1st day still open shop do business. And this shop really operate long hours and closes later than most. I have clients from Indonesia that visit Sillypore's Crystal Jade restaurant on an almost daily basis spending at least S$1k per meal per trip. Even ex. President SBY visited that restaurant a few times,hehehe...

26th Batam trip
(from 15th March to 17th March 2016)

This March trip,manage to slot one bro in. Sorry to those bros who were not chosen to join me.Part of the reason was due to having a different objective and frequency as a group i was trying to form. I did not plan to go to any of those secret joint/MP i was talking about. Perhaps one day,when fate would allows it,we shall meet.

1st stop,Kaha...then to our desire hotel. Checked in,some tcss and briefing before heading for lunch at Meximo pub wan tan mee. As usual,i always remembers to ask the bro/s who joined to remember the taste of what they had.

Cant really remember who ordered what,but we end up da bao back 10 sticks of pork satay which we still eventually didnt ate.

i imagine if i bring her to Windsor,i can be almost sure i will go bankrupt...lesson learned,never allow the girls to order my food. And luckily,we are at A2 instead and not Windsor.

End of the evening,i pay up around 350k in food,drinks and cigarette which i didnt really know what was really being ate on the dining table. Seems like i didnt have much luck ordering food in A2 food court,hehehe...or the least,i didnt find what i original wish to eat there.

After the disappointing dinner,we head back to our room for the rest of the OTOT for the last night of our trip.

There was some TCSS in my room for about an hour before we turn in for the night. In my room,since my girl and the bro's girls were sisters,i try to break the ice between the pair,hopefully they have a better night together...but seems like things didnt work out too well for them.

Anyway,the next morning...the lousy girl from Gold Bird was tipped 50k becos of her bad service,came in to my room to make hell lot of noise and of course got scolded by her so-called older sister for giving lousy service (could be an act). I tipped her another 50k before she is willing to leave my room which i told her older sister that i am deducting from her older sister's tips, which i did.

After the ordeal,i can still go for 1 more round before i heading for hotel breakfast. I tipped my girl 300k for her 2 nights with me.

After breakfast,my girl left...and we go back to room to ask for in room massage :

Passing by Jodoh open market in our vehicle...seems like more people are doing business there and the road is becoming more clamp as our vehicle were only be able to move in about 5km /hour...hehehe...

My thoughts for this trip :

Its nothing fantastic in this trip...i didnt visit any of my secret joints and massage places but i did learned and observed a few things in this trip.

1. I past by places i wish to visit in my next trip

2. i heard booking joints are competing against one another for taxi drivers to bring customers to them by paying as high as 150k per customer in commission.

3. Almost every booking joint uses Bunga to benchmark the high price and compare their so call low prices against them (bunga).

4. If the girl and the guy can click,it will work wonders. But if it doesnt,well...it can be not-so-good. High expectation is not good.

5. Having expectation and having requirement are 2 different things. The girl that are not-good for some can be very good for others.

6. Booking joints has start to increase their prices. Increase as in lesser and lesser of joints are having 600k girls. (got suan by the Memory's new indian-looking mami when i ask for 600k girls)

7. Fire that breaks out in Gold Bird previously (about a month ago) happens on the 2nd floor onward,so 1st floor not affected.

I am looking forward to my next Batam trip,it will be a private trip with some friends with similar frequency as me. I feel the need to affirm something after finish writing this summary in my later trips,hehehe...

Also,there may unlikely be a newbie learning group trip on May/June 2016 too. I need to do something more important 1st,hehehe...something i cannot do if i were to organize newbie group trip.

Got her HP number but longer in used when I tried dialing/smsing , I guess messaging apps are more trustworthy.

I paid 1.5 for mine bargained from 1.6. Previously a friend took her at 1.3(from 1.5)the previous trip for the same girl on non peak season , another cons for going on peak lor. Yes, buying online seems to be the cheapest method..

Alternatively, if U're feeling lazy or don't have a credit card, can always buy from the many travel agencies in Batam... Pricing is maybe abt 5-10% higher than buying it online..

FR for a 3d2n stay in Batam on 25th to 27th March.

Arrived at packed Harbour Front departure hall for Horizon's 13:15 ferry which was delayed for 20-30 mins or so. Ferry was full.

Upon arrival walk out of Harbour Bay to grab a taxi for RP25k to Sederhana nasi padang across Harmoni hotel. Pay RP295 for 4 paxs. Then walked 5 mins to Planet Hotel which was prebooked thru Agoda for a mere $56. It was cheap compared to their prices of $100 plus during their hay days. Room came with a king size bed and bath tub but without breakfast. Check in/out was a breeze. Stay overall was pleasant.

After check in rest a bit then head to Nagoya Hill shopping to walk around and grab some drinks and tidbits. New Nagoya Hill hotel us just a stone throw away from the mall but it's a $100 a night.

23:30hrs went to Pacific disco. Music was loud and lotsa ppl doing their head banging. Yes there are still dancers which came on ard 2 and 3 am. Dancers were on the meaty side and no so jio looking. Place was abt 30% filled. Got one or two gals try to urge a pick up but really CMI types. Left ard 5pm and paid taxi RP50k (midnight charge I think)

Next day woke up at 4pm and went to Sports massage at RP295k per pax. Massage was good and manage to ease some aching pains n joints.

Proceed to Marine Live Seafood for dinner. Bill came to RP920 for 4 paxs. Dissapointly the crabs, garoupa and fried squid are very small compared to other seafood places for these pricing.

I need to apologise to bronono for not tagging along after few pms (next time if given a chance I will join). That was fast after 2 joints. Lol. For my group (3 guys, me included) going the same day, we manage to go to permata, sedona, happy, berry, indah2 and mm then back to happy and berry after bookmarking a few girls. In the end all of us get 3 girls at berry.

It is tiring going to most joints but I have to admit I enjoyed it more, going with a huge group of guys. The attention we get from the gals, mami and papi is fantastic. This Lovina Inn Nagoya is back on my radar again.

Another cannot miss kind of hotel....means easily seen and located.

How s the room compare to Hana or City Central?

I just check Booking dot com last night and most of the hotels fully book and are not in the available list from Mar 25 to Mar 27.
