My 35th Batam Trip Summary
(8th Dec to 11th Dec 2016)

This trip seems to have more things to do than I expected (and planned), hehehe...anyway,i already have a feeling that its not going to be good as my 34th trip,and I am suppose to do 'returns' to temple becos year 2016 end as my next trip would likely be next year in 2017.

Touch down on Biz Hotel becos I need to do some reccing over the area around Biz Hotel and as well as a promise that I need to keep to someone at Biz. Formosa's sudden price increase this month also forbids me to stay there too,so I thought it would be a good chance for me to stay at Biz,and as well as to keep a promise to return during beginning of 2016.

(dont worry about Formosa room price,i have manage to bring the price back down again before i left Batam,it will be update in the later part of this summary)

Why Biz Hotel this time round? Reason is simple...

Check in to Biz Hotel Junior Suite,the 1st thing that greets me was a interminent power over-surge when I plug-in the card key (lights on,lights off...no,nothing to do with supernatural stuffs). Ok,fine...someone came and fixed it and after settling down,i begin to set up my "entertainment" system and the next problem I have to face is the internet issue. The wifi totally failed me for the 4D3N. So for this trip, the entire holiday mood was killed by me having to bring the receptionist,the technician, the supervisor and their managers up to my room every single day on an average of at least twice a day. There is totally no way any 'living thing' could have kept their cool,hehehe...

One of the case is,where the in-hotel-room service dinning was over charging me my food order by 66% extra. The menu says 50k rupiah on a certain food my girl ordered, the bill on the receipt turn out 88k+. The rest of the case would be the technicians of the hotel having to come to my room on a daily basis to fix the internet connection.

The hotel stays in this trip seems to remind me something, in Batam if there is anything that start getting messed up, I will have to swallow everything down, hence much often I would prefer to plan most of my things in advance and making sure they are all nicely done. This applies also for all my other travels beside going to Batam. Its a lesson (or reminder) to me in this trip and even at that,i would say that this will not be my last stay in Biz Hotel. The staffs was so apologetic that I hear no less than 200 of the same words "sorry" from them. How do I know its more than 200 times they said "sorry" to me,hehehehe...I counted and I stopped counting at number 200,hehehe...this is an unforgettable stay in Batam hence I have a lot to pen down.

Ok,so much for the hotel I stayed in.

When i 1st touch down Batam,the 1st thing i did was go change my money opposite Formosa Hotel at 9400/SGD. Head to the hotel to make some inquiries there (but the manager isnt in) before heading to Kaha to get my Biz Hotel room at 820k per night. Yes, Junior Suite room from Kaha at Biz Hotel has increase price,the Executive room cost 930k per night (if i dont remember wrong). Since i am not the bill bearer in this trip,i took the junior suite. So 3 nights stay cost me 2460k this time round.

(i know,i know...this could be the 1st time you guys see me as a non-stingy guy)

Next thing,i head to one of favourite booking place to grab a girl. Reach the place,mami isnt in..we head for lunch and then after lunch,heads back to the same place again and the mami is STILL NOT IN,hehehe...so i decide to steal her girl...meaning taking the girl w/o paying,hehehe...until later on mami called my girl and we have to make a detour to pick her up to make payment. After bargaining with Mami,the price for 3 nights came down to 2 million rupiah (mami tells me CNY price will go up by 100k per night and it has to be a fixed price,meaning cannot bargain). Tcss for a bit before heading to TOP 100 to buy groceries and then back to my room again.

After dropping my girl off,told my girl to 'stay',while i head to some pharmacies to help my bosses to buy some medicated stuffs. Spend quite a bomb there and due to the fact that some pharmacy didnt have the stock i need,i pharmacy-hop quite a handful of shops before finally settling my 'last buy' at a 24 hour local pharmacy.

There ,below photo is the 3 altar housing the lesser deities of the temple. And the 1st one i passed by was the 5 generals,the middle one was the white tiger and the last altar belongs to 5 earth. Do note that the chief deity is still Tua Pek Kong (Tua Pek Kong is suppose to be governing property on earth and i may come to its story at a later time)...

...after the 3 altar i head to the 4th altar called 拿督公 ,which in my own translation,i would call it Grandpa Datok.

Moving towards Grandpa Datok's altar and on the top right hand side of the stairways is a Buddhist temple building which i will go to later.

Special note : In order to pray inside the altar of Grandpa Datok, worshiper/s will have to take off their shoes to enter. There is a sign saying so...this applies to all Buddhist temple too (Grandpa Datok altar isnt Buddhist type).

Last year around this time,the altar of Grandpa Datok was very small in this temple and it seems to have grew in size in a short frame of less than a year.

Looking on the above picture, the right hand side of the Grandpa Datok's shrine is a Buddhist temple,the left hand side is where the Guan Yin statue high up a hill which i will be going later.

I can only use one word to describe that day's weather...VERY HOT! But thank heaven,becos this temple is on a hill path's higher ground and in a very spacious area hence its also very windy,hehehe...

This Buddhist temple isnt as big or majestic as the other temple i have been to in Batam,but it well-kept and clean like the rest. Same rules applied,no shoes inside the main hall.

Time to head to the Guan Yin statue...the highlight of this temple.

One thing that needs to take here is that heat from the sun during the early afternoon can be a killer,not to mention the steps up to reach the statue. Some bros i brought to visit this Tiban Tua Pek Kong have took much effort to reach the top.

They seems to have done a pretty good job...slow but steadily moving forward with every step.

Notice i actually refer back to my own past summary of around the same time of the year? And this is mainly what my summaries is meant for. No one can remember all their trips,the good memories,bad memories,and they disappear after some time from our minds. I dont wish to forget,or at least i want to keep as much as possible of it.

Be it good or bad,its still part of my life. And this is my journey. Good one,i hope to remember,bad one i will try to learn from it.

Ok,enough comparison of the past and present,i have to get up the stairway to reach the Guan Yin statue.

It was very windy up there,and from the look of the altar at the foot of the statue,it appears that not many has come this far to offer joss sticks and offerings to the deity. The urn that holds the ashes for one to put the joss sticks in was so hardened by the rain and sun that even i have difficulty putting the my lighted joss stick straight. Lighting the joss sticks in such strong wind is also a challenge.

In those animated photos previously,you guys might have notice that there are some occasional worshipers coming in and out of this temple...but well,i notice they rarely comes up this far. I am wondering why so...

In case no one notice, most of the Guan Yin statue in Batam were not-so-good-looking. In fact,many look man-like rather than lady-like. I went online to do some research and learned that Guan Yin was reincarnated many hundred,even thousands of times before she became the current Guan Yin. And in some of her very 1st few human lifetime,she was actually a man. The ongoing of the reincarnation process makes her what she is today where she finally attain enlightenment.

Her story is a super ultra long one.

This year Dec 2016 i may be seeing what i see here (or may not if those picture dies), next year coming back here i will be able to see each part of this temple and its surrounding change again. I have always said, i come once to a same place in Batam,it may looks like 'this' this year,next time i come again,it wont be the same anymore. We all change ourselves over time,the place too.

After the temple,i am back to room in the late afternoon. My girl dozed off while waiting for me to come back and she woke up when i step into the room (my room is a 1 room 1 hall).

As usual,after my shower round 1 starts,followed by a Jacuzzi bath and then another round,took a short nap thereafter and before long,it was dinner time. Went to the top floor of Biz for dinner,trying to impress my girl but well...she's completely not interested,hehehe...food was alright except the bill part,hehehe...costing me about 284k rupiah. Taking away the religion part, every step in our life (path) is like a practice ...and every suffering (and blessing too) on embarking our journey in real life is somehow already predestined from the choice we made when we took that certain path (or made a certain choice).

I made a decision to travel to Batam,i have to take up its consequences regardless if it turns out good or bad (like real,hehehe...).

The next part of the movie which i also agree...that is, we all tends to believe what we see with our own eyes.

You and i can see the exact same thing,but when we both look at the same thing in a different timeline,a different situation or from another angle, the result of what we see can be very different.

I remember watching a Ji Gong drama 活佛济公 in my younger days (Ji Gong is yet another Buddha from the Buddhist realm and a deity worshiped among Taoism). One fine day when Ji Gong tells his teacher that he has "awakened" (一念觉醒), he walked right to the middle of the altar in the temple where everyone was either praying or worshiping ; and start to strip himself until completely naked.

Of course during then, he was bombard and kicked out of the temple by his teachers and seniors. His life story is more about his travels around his country (aka the world by the story's definition),and being a Buddhist,yet be controversially drinking alcohol and consuming dog meat (which is against Buddhism law).

His explanation base on the then teaching was 酒肉穿肠过 (what he eat goes into your body and later comes out again).What he eats and drink is a work of the external appearance. Meaning to say, i can do all the Good Work by appearance that any super duper ultra devoted believers would normally do...but if my own heart is evil, constantly plotting against others, forever trying to stir discord with words/actions, creating trouble etc etc... I will be afterall no better than those who dont do ANY of those so call "Good Work". Thats solely my own understanding of its meaning.

I believe his teaching is more about not to be bound by the appearance of the worldly,be it action or by speech but be more focusing on the good heart and the good spiritual self. Do more good deeds, do less harmful things, have a good heart and bring out goodness in the world.

Writing up to this point reminds me a question i would like to ask, which part of Singapore has the highest concentration places of worship within a 3 km radius? Or put it in another term,which part of Singapore has the highest concentration of temples,churches etc within a 3 km radius?

I dont know your answer/s,but my bet is on the Red Light District of Singapore,hehehe...and at 1st i even wonder why so? Then i learned of a little idea when i try to stand on "their" perspective to look at things.

Makes complete sense,right? Why would deities or any good higher sovereign beings be in a place where there is ONLY peace and no evil? Red Light district is the only place in any country where the 7 deadly sins can be found heavily mutiplying in. The rest will up to your own wisdom to figure.

Ok,so much for the lesson/s I learned and shared with my girl when I watch Legend of Monkey King 2 in Batam for the 1st night,hehehe...it was a good ice breaker. (glad to see she didn't faint,hehehe...)

After the in-room movie and our ice breaking session, one more pop with more emotion element before heading to do some work on my laptop, followed by dream land,hehehe...was super tired and I had a morning appointment with a bro to be linking up for breakfast the next morning and yet another bro to a men's spa for some tcss.

Today's schedule is Breakfast with a bro,Lunch at a2 food court,followed by Windsor Tua Pek Kong praying,send my girl back to room and then head to meet up with another bro at a men's Spa. And dinner was yet another link up with another bro who hasn't been to Batam for more than a year at Food Colony. An ultra busy day,hehehe...

Continue from the same morning.....

How time flies,my 1st night was over just like that. Woke up,wash up a little and head down to meet a bro for a linked up breakfast. Like always,super stingy me treat the bro who linked up with me a FREE breakfast by the hotel,hehehe...ok,hotel food was alright but cant beat Formosa nor Da Vienna version in many ways. Its the 1st time I take their breakfast on the ground floor. The last time I had breakfast there,it was on the 11th floor.

And I wasn't exactly super stingy,becos when I treat a bro with me for free breakfast,i will have to buy my girl breakfast and this is my 2nd day of my trip and this breakfast from my girl creates a little commotion. My girl ordered a Kwei tiau goreng at 50k,and it turn out the bill becomes 88K+. I didn't pay for it and the whole ordeal turns out that I have to face off with the restaurant manager for more than 20 mins.The in-roon food menu :

I am wondering how many tourists who ordered their restaurant menu food from the hotel were conned off paying 66% extra. So guys, check your bill whenever you order anything from Batam Biz Hotel. I highly doubt the menu price has been changed after I left the hotel. This hotel is deteriorating in terms of facilities and service standard.

The difference is,this time round,my girl followed me to the temple. She just walk around the temple behind me,hehehe...

None of the cats is dead or injured in anyway tho. But one of the kitten's eyes caught some ashes and couldnt open up. Some kind aunties make the effort to bring it to the temple's washing area to do some clean up. Well,at least from the way i see it,the kitten's eyes could once again be open again. Its always feel good to see people doing good things.

Last year around this,the other side of the Tua Pek Kong temple has not been done up but this year,it is...so i decide to walk there to have a look see. Its actually a Buddhist temple. I believe many like myself has not been to that temple before...time to go have a quick look.

On my way to the new Buddhist temple...honestly,i didnt even know what to call it except to name it Tua Pek Kong Buddhist temple. Kong Zi Temple was at the starboard side of Tua Pek Kong Temple and this Buddhist temple is at the port side. You will understand what i say if you can understand rules of road,hehehe...

Not a very big temple if I compare to the one at Batam Center,hehehe...but well,that one was the biggest Buddhist temple in south east Asia,this one isn't.

In this Windsor temple trip,i actually missed out the lower floor of this new temple becos at that time,i have to go rush to meet a bro at a spa,and before I meet him,i need to 1st drop my girl back to the hotel 1st. I am heading to a spa,and I don't plan to have her coming with me. And I was already late for appointment. See, this trip is mostly about rushing here and there,which I didn't quite like.

One of the way about going to Batam for a holiday is, never try to get into the point of having to rush. Its a mistake for my case.

I was late for about 20 mins...but still,i finally reached the place. (i dont like to be late and by being late myself,it kind of already spoil half my mood)

This place has been around for while and it is only recently that they started with this package thingy to draw some new customers. In the past, this place under the same name used to be more like a fitness center,the same one like in Utama Hotel and Formosa,but they added in massage packages like that of Octopuss to cater for horny men,hehehe...

When I reach there,the bro I am suppose to link up were about halfway thru his massage session,so I go soak myself up for a bit in their pool.

At the cashier point (aka reception),we will be told about the packages and when we agreed to it,i was issue a wristband :

One thing to take note regarding this spa was their locker. You will have to MAKE SURE that it is locked up properly as the locker is being opened by the sensor on the wrist band. A few times, i closed my locker w/o realizing the locker has not been locked.

1st look upon entering the Pool area. No,the elephant tusk is not real,hehehe...its for decorative purpose.

I also learn in this spa that it is a unisex spa. There's 2 changing room (which is also the locker room),1 for the men and the other for the ladies. 2 gender toilets etc. Even the hot and cold pool ,the sauna room,steam room and the O2 room was meant for unisex. No,no pretty girls there,only the older plumper ones,hehehe...

Now,this is how they kept their towels (as below). Most of the things there is self-service, so don't expect personal touch service like in Octopuss , Delta or Altalanta.

The towel closet is at the pool area,where everyone will be able to notice. And yes, every (almost) locker contains a robe and shorts.

Ok,lets go take a look at the pool area and their O2, sauna and steam rooms.

Notice that guy cleaning the floors around the pool? The pool area and the pool interior itself was made up of thumb-size mosaic-type of small stones pattern, so it has the potential to grow algae fast, especially in places where there are lots of moisture. You will notice a bigger hot pools,a smaller cold pool,the O2 room,the Sauna room and lastly the Steam room on the animated photo above.

My friend met up with me at the pool area for some small chat after his massage. We exchange a little knowledge and info on batam and soon,it was about time for me to head out for the cream of the day,the massage session!! Hehehe...

Above is how their room look like,even got a mirror and shower area accompanied with a toilet. This one is their basic package, the one that says 388.8k in their menu and excluding a 40% discount during happy hours (before 5pm). Serious,i don't think I need the other higher packages with a bath tub,hehehe...

I am suppose to take a video of the room,but due to the room being too dark and the video isn't too clear,i forego the animated video photo and use a regular photo format to put up the pic instead.

I censored off the address and all other location details but using just the brochure above,you can still engage some common sense to locate the place if you have the heart to find it.

Massage standard by the few girls I have tried was quite alright, almost meeting the standard of those massage places I been to. Well,at least it seems the room is clean enough.

The Good :

1. Total price of about 234k rupiah (happy hour) and come with a HJ is considered one of the cheapest in Batam.

2. All necessary spa facilities were intact and free to use as long as you took the massage package.

3. The girls were pretty enough. The ugliest, fattest girl has a look of 6.5/10. (I often request for their worst girls during my 1st tries to test water)

4. The GROs and staffs has that personal touch service, like in Formosa Hotel.

The Bad :

1. At 234k rupiah, one of the lowest in Batam,i doubt they can sustain long w/o having upsell or chu pattern. Its only a matter of time.

2. The hot and cold pool has algae in it, lots of it. My skin are sensitive but I still use it becos I engaged some common sense.

Even I have their name card about a year plus ago when I was there. i choose not to call them to deliver. On my way back from Diana Layer cake shop,i bought 5 Swees curry puff just left hand side (aka port side) of Biz Hotel and gave 2 to a friend. This is the funny part,i am not a curry puff person,i THOUGHT I will eat one and give my girl the other 2 when I am back to room. I didn't expect the curry puff to taste so good that I took 2 and left only one for my girl,hehehe...

The spa ends with me getting to know a Chinese old man with his gf soaking themselves silly in the cold pool ,hehehe...the man looks like he is around in the age of 60s and standing side by side him,i completely look like a weakling. Believe it or not,i didn't even dare put the whole of me into the close to ice temperature's cold pool and this old chap is literally swimming in it for a good 5 mins. Tough guy!

It was almost close to sunset when the spa session ends and I head back to room to rest a little and continue the OTOT of the day. There will yet be ANOTHER FRIEND coming to batam in the evening and I am doing some coordination via SBF's PM to try to work out the meeting place and dinner. Met up with my friend who arrived from Batam Center via an ojek,helped him to put his belongings in my room and off we go.

Dinner was at New Siang Malam zhi char store. Total cost for our dinner was about 280k plus for 4 person. Not too bad when all the food portion was in mid-szie. But I notice there is another new eating shop beside new siang malam zhi char store where there seems to be quite many people eating there. Maybe can try it the next time when i am in batam again.

In between our meals,there are few kids coming by asking for money,and I reject them all. BUT!! My girl gave to almost all of them and she is using HER OWN MONEY except one little girl who offers to sing for us where I pay back my girl who give her the money.

This girl of mine simply didn't know how to reject others,hehehe...next trip must really educate her on this.

After dinner, we all head to Nagoya Hill Mall for a movie. It was a Saturday night and no need to think also know the theater will be close to full house. We can only take the front row seats.

Hmm...this movie has all along been not bad. This is part 5 of the Underworld movie and it surely didn't disappoint me. Price for the ticket was still 25k per pax at this time at Nagoya Hill Mall.

It was close to midnight when the movie ends and we took a taxi back to hotel. My friend who linked up didn't have a room and since I am staying a one room one hall room,i thought maybe he could come over to stay over. There's 2 toilets,2 sets of basic toiletries ,eg towels etc,so there's no inconvenience. I would say it is pretty silly for my friend to spend money to book a room at pass midnight and then check out again the next morning.

Internet was down...again (its an everyday thing). It seems to be a common thing for Biz Hotel now. I have to call the hotel every day regarding the internet connection, which I have to give this hotel a minus and minus and minus points.

Chatted with my friend till almost 4am before heading to bed and my friend gets to sleep on the sofa at my room's hall,hehehe...this is also my final night in Batam.

The next day, after my girl goes back to her joint and I checked out, we headed for brunch at ibu joko before helping my friend check in to his hotel. We went joint-shopping for a bit to help my friend get his girl before heading to the same spa I visited over the last 2 days. Again,i needn't repeat myself,and we manage to kill about 3 hours there before heading back to his room and I am have to get myself prepare to go home sweet home (while my friend stays for the night).

After my friend drop me off at Harbour Bay Ferry is where my MOST DISASTROUS part of this trip happens, hehehe...

Most friends and bros here who joined me my Batam has been asked the then, ridiculous question/s before.

1. I often ask them,if one day after collecting my boarding pass,i checked into the custom where the officers already chopped my passport and while walking towards my ferry; What will happen if the wind blow away my boarding pass into the sea before I board the ferry?

2. The next question is similar to the above ; What will happen if the wind blow away my passport into the sea before I board the ferry?

When I can ask this type of 'question',i am most often very careful to make sure such things I asked wont EVER happen to me BUT believe it or not,in this 35th Batam trip of mine,it truly happens to me on Number 1. So i conclude that if bad luck really wants to fall upon me,i cannot escape regardless how prepared i am,hehehe...

While I was walking towards the ferry...I was admiring this beautiful scenery and decide to take a shot using my mobile phone....

It was sunset and the ambiance was all peaceful as well as beautiful...but the wind at that time was too strong and I was carrying many stuffs on both hands and guess what?! The next thing o know,something flew off one of my hands where I was holding my passport and I see my boarding pass flew off into the sea near the ferry when I am STILL NOT ON BOARD the ferry.

I also want to know the end result of this situation, so I approach the guy who were suppose to collect the ferry ticket and tell him about my situation. He got my passport particular and start calling Horizon to verify and within the a good 5 mins,i am actually on board the ferry. I think it could be becos i am in Business class which makes my information easier to trace back (business class only less than 5 person during a Sunday,hehehe...).

For a while,2 things came in mind.

1. It gives me a good reason to stay another night in Batam as I might need to purchase another ferry ticket back.

2. I could be detained for crossing the custom w/o a boarding pass?

Anyway,its none of the above. The ordeal last about 10 mins and ferry was delayed by a mere 5 mins before setting off. I would have called this incident a close shave. The 1st thing in mind about upon boarding the ferry is,must go back bathe flower water...hehehe...

Time for the Penis for my thoughts of this trip :

This is no doubt a trip no better than my previous 34th trip but I already use up to 16 posts of the forum (and this thread) to write this summary. I have done much in this trip,...like meeting up with old friends whom I have not seens for a while, making new friends, some linking up, arranging for my CNY 2017 etc and all that has kept me so occupied that it actually makes my trip less fun. Not forgetting the final disaster that hit me has left me with a faster heart beat to the very last very mins before I head back to Sillypore.

Going to Batam is to relax,take things slowly..hehehe...how am I going to relax and take things slow when there is so much to do in this trip and with so many things in mind. I don't now how my coming CNY 2017 going to end up but well...I seems not 100% prepared for it. I will have to take things even slower and cut back being confident on everything in Batam.

1. Accommodation preparation. Visited Formosa hotel at least 5 times in this trip to give them a few pieces of my mind and to prepare for my next trip. Glad to see that most parts of it ends up well and my confident level finally return on my last day of my trip. Still,for hotel wise,i standby a plan B.

2. Girl-wise. I may just take up all ,plan B and plan C. Who knows I may end up with no girls at all or if things went on the optimistic side,i may have too many girls all in the same room,hehehe...I even have prices pre-negotiated in advance. A gentle reminder, i only have one dick.

3. Must remember to bring mandarin oranges to Batam,hehehe...and my free room-stay voucher.

4. Have to set aside a small budget for fireworks. I am replacing part of my fireworks with some light saber,hehehe...

6. Many Chinese operated money changers will be close on the 1st day and 2nd day of CNY 2017. And rate would be very very pathetically bad with less competition. I may go Arcade or Chinatown to exchange my rupiah instead of doing it in Batam.

In 2016 CNY,the exchange rates in Arcade was the same as changing in Batam, surprising huh?

Add another 50k for weekends.

Suite room : 510k + 30k for newly renovated room. (weekend add another 50k)

This trip,my overall rating is 6.5/10. I focus too much on praying, making friends,buying things for others and searching for info/stuffs for myself and others. Too little on relaxing and enjoying myself. 4D3N of batam trip,so much to do,so much i need to complete and so little time. Next trip,it wont happen again,hehehe...

Everything is almost as what Bro Nono had posted from the admin portion of booking both the ferry and Hotel to the part, to wary of the Kings massage girl opening their lion mouth to chop carrot.

I'd brought this up to him what I'm going to say here.

For those of you who are browsing this site on mobile, I would advise you to set your browser to NOT download media. The simple reason being I checked my data usage and between 1400 - 1600 hrs, I used up as much as 700 mb. For someone who rarely using close to the 2 gb each month, to consume 700mb on 1 day is already shocking, let alone 700mb in 2 hours.

I had politely requested for bro nono to do something about the gif files (each between 7-9 mb) in his latest field report cos, regardless of the platform (desktop or cellphone), as long as the gif file is playing, it means you had downloaded the gif files and data is used. Probably remove some of the gif files, or at least quote-lock the FRs.

Hence, for the time being, if you find yourself surfing this thread actively, you might want to set your browser to NOT download media. At $10 per GB, data is not exactly cheap.

I am still a noob when it comes to recognizing the direction of places/location i wish to go to; so i will almost certainly try to remember their nearby landmarks (if any) whenever i hope to go to any of them around Batam Nagoya/Penuin area, eg hotels,shopping malls,tourist attractions etc.

Hai Ou was also featured on the Batam Food List too. And i am sure no one would have not know where the food list is,hehehe...

This trip, I stayed at this quite new hotel in Windsor Food Court residential area. L Hotel, if you had not guessed it. And, it's a terrible mistake to make.

Good sharing bro,which reminds me that anyone can stay in any hotels away from most of the cheonging places but...their transportation from point to point and their capability to navigate will be one of their KEY issue to find the things they are looking for in Batam.

Like in an RPG game,one move faster when they are riding on a vehicle than walking. If the location is too far out,it simply takes a longer time to walk, or would I rather ride?

Solution is simple and yet not so much known to most.

After that, it's movie time. We caught UnderWorld at Nagoya mall. Great show. Caught my full attention throughout the entire movie. After movie event is back to hotel for chill out and men's talk. Shared with bro some of the issues I'm facing in life and, as always, he gave great advice.

Underworld is cool....hehehe....I wouldn't mind watching it another time tho.

After a few more trips there,i probably drop that place off becos the place is about the same price as the one I went to previously. And since it is about the same price (cost just a little more tho) with the similar quality of girls,i may just stick to my regular spa places.

But, my opinion immediately changed when I tried the pool. The warm pool is just that. Warm. The killer was... Algae was spotted in the water and that's a definite no no for me. No matter how affordable. Left the pool and tried the sauna, steam room and then, the oxygen room, in that order. Nothing much to shout about for the sauna and steam room, but I enjoyed the oxygen room. The only place that has this is the Octopus spa, iirc.

One of their customer were complaining to me about the algae and it cause his skin to itch. Algae on some term is good for health (pun intended),but on the skin,it really depends,hehehe...a gentle reminder however, please do remember to wash off the algae (whether if algae exist) upon exiting the hot pool.

The algae reminds me of Enter Spa's 'sea monkeys',hehehe...no one I seen has used the hot pool and yet algae already existed in it. Or was it really sea monkeys? Hehehe...

O2 room is good,especially for those smokes,and those with breathing issues. Much often,i would see the oxygen producing machine in hospital's ICU for patients with cancers. And there are 2 of such machines in that O2 room,hehehe...Octopuss only has one. So they won Octopuss in that aspect.

After the oxygen room, we decided to proceed to our massage. I had specifically requested for a small size girl and, lo and behold, not only is she small size, she's pretty as well. At least a 7.5/10. The downer is... She won't open her clothes during the complimentary handjob, even when I upped the extra to 200k. Well, I still get to shoot my first load. Just that I saved 150k in tips.

This place has got no short of customers for now, so they (the girls) have the "financial capability" to 'Reject' their customers. The next 15 minutes tells why we should not stay at this hotel anymore. Not a single taxi at the parking lots, not even a single ojet available. And, 10 minute after telling the security to call a taxi, it's still on the way. Luckily, I called the driver that my bro uses and he happened to be in the area. Brought us to A2 food court for our dinner. Fried prawn in floor, fried egg, fried chicken and vegetables plus drinks came up to about 200k. Nice and cheap meal.

Like I have said earlier,if one plans his way of travel well enough, he would have anticipated by staying in a hotel far away from the most basic amenities (food places, cheonging, shopping etc), the key of travelling from point A to be point B would be crucial.

I think your hotel is the 1st hotel that I knew of w/o ample taxi or ojek around. I believe that would tells you more about the hotel,hehehe...every hotel in Batam should be a good hotel,as long as i have the capability to find everything i need conveniently (with minimum effort).

Reference to earlier food finding (seagull zi cha) post / guild , I've got one thing to report: mission accomplished ! Walked there from Nagoya mall, took me about less then 30 min of leisure stroll. Bro nono map spot on. Just follow it and u will reach seagull swee swee.

Mixed feelings about the food. The fish head (ok it's fish body) steam boat is good. I ordered kan kong. Average. The salted egg chicken is a failure. No offence to anyone, just my two cents. And the price? Heheh. $165k plus coke. Cheap cheap. Almost no tourist there. I like it!

On the way there, saw a very happening food court behind da Vienna hotel. Not the burbur Johor, it's just behind da Vienna. Can see the hotel from seating place. Very full v bustling, smells good too! Too bad I've got limited stomach space for food. So got to kiv.

Night activity is bumming around NED pub street. Sat in chilli pub and waitresses came up to me chat. Nothing happening there, ended disbursing 50k to each girl to chit chat away my evening . (I don't drink and I didn't buy them any drink. I recon they will prefer hard currency rather then fermented carbonated wheat drink) They waitress look good but I dunno how to ask them to follow me back. End up going off myself. Duh.

Oops forgot about the hotel. Stayed in barelang hotel. It's a small budget hotel around harmoni hotel area. Some taxi drivers don't even know of it. Easier to disembark at harmoni hotel and walk over. I paid $28 in agoda, which I recon is fair. The hotel is very new, so "no run down issues" at all. Nothing else to shout (or complain) about, a typical budget hotel. Location wise, I took about 10 min walk to formosa. Its located right along the NED, ideal place for brudders who want to go drinking. Also have KFC and mac Donald's around the corner.

Additional stuff :

Didn't get to have a good massage this time round. My usual place, Bridge massage, sent a hell of a steel finger masseur to massage me. Almost broke my old bones. Arrgghh! Saw another massage shop opposite farmosa, might give it a try next time. Or any bros here know of another cheap massage? Below 100k per hour.

That about sums up this short trip. Back to save $$$ and be back again soon!!

I guess what irritates me about the Ojek riders are that as they chase after me, they sometimes swerve in front of me and force me to sidestep; that's why I feel unsafe. Not that I feel that I will be robbed or anything (anyway I never bring all my cash out at once). But getting knocked down or accidentally burning myself on a hot exhaust pipe isn't my idea of a good vacation experience. :rolleyes:

As for the FLs, yeah really, when I went there, the place was totally empty; just a few guys prancing on the dance floor. Or maybe I went too early; was there around 11pm and stayed till just before midnight. Perhaps you could advise me when is the best time to hit the discos? But heaven is on our side. We know something that is call unite.
We unite together to bring the price down. We hope to give them a chance to do business. If they willing to reduce their price. But unlucky for them. They refuse to bring it down. They thought that if we no go and eat , Other Dick and John will go and eat. We no go they won,t die . Hahaha , they had underestimate the power of unite.

Good feedback about Seagull. I've been there several times and that's the first time that I had the fish steamboat. Next time when you order this, try this. When the steamboat arrive, scoop up all the so first and then ask them to refill.

The busting eatery beside Da Vienna Hotel is one of the Ikan Bakar Acia that I know of. The other one is behind Nagoya Citywalk. That one, not so busy. At dinner time, you will have problem finding seats at the one next to hotel. Not sure if Ikan Bakar Acia is the shop name or refers to the way the fishes are cooked. There, you choose the fishes you want and tell them how you want it cooked. Another good to try there is the Orh Luak without Orh. Haha, I take it this way cos I'm watching my cholesterol lever and oyster is not really my cup of tea.

1. Yes, Formosa is a very good spot. The boss spend several tens of juta putting up fireworks display every year. My fave spot is just in front of Tea Story.

2. For an affordable and decent gynae, you can ask your friend to go to RS Elisabeth. It is one of the more affordable yet decent hospitals in Batam. Try Dr. Dino, he practises there in the morning and he also has his own clinic in the Kepri Mall area. His clinic is next to Vista KTV there.

If your friend has more budget,the best gynaes can be found in RS Awalbros. Price-wise is about 40% more than RS Elisabeth. Basis consultation + ultrasound + administration fee is about 350-400k per visit; meds & supplements will of course be at an extra cost.

3. For good and affordable breakfast & lunches, Pasar Mitra Raya is always a good bet. There are at least 8 good-sized coffeeshops there with lots of comfort food like fried carrot cake, you tiao, BKT (white or herbal), bakchor mee, 小碗面, chicken rice and many many many other selections. That area is like a Little Medan and many of the stalls are helmed by Indochinese.

Erm,the best place for me to watch fireworks is right where I am standing in Batam which I will light them my own,hehehe... Believe me, Batam's fireworks is almost all the same as what you could buy from the roadside. (its at least 3 to 5 times more expensive than in China during festive season, for your info) And it often breaks my heart to hear a big bang from any firework whenever I am in Batam (during CNY),hehehe...as each loud bang from the firework on the sky cost an average of about nearly S$1 ,hehehe... :D

Best place to watch fireworks if you wish to see some more fanciful firework display would most likely be in KTM Resort higher hill area chalet where you can oversee Singapore's Marina Bay Sand. Of course,it is provided if that evening's night sky isn't cloudy,hehehe...

Biz hotel,Da Vienna Hotel,BCC,Zest Hotel,Nagoya Mansion etc where the hotels were taller can be considered to watch some simple firework display too.

Last year,most of Formosa's fireworks is done just outside Formosa front door carpark area (the security guards will help out) and outside Center Point Mall (its an almost empty building). Do note that I am speaking base on CNY 2015 and CNY 2016 experience.

First, do not confuse DISCO (e.g., Pacific, Newton, Planet 1, Planet 3, ...) with PUB (e.g., No Name, Foreplay, and the dozens in Kampung Bule). Two different places, different environments, different people, different girls (well, this is not so true, not always at least :p).

For DISCO: best time is 1am-4am. (nearly all the week, although of course Sunday and Monday are slower)
(Do not miss the "Ladies' Night"! - I don't tell you what day, ehehe)
For PUB: best time is 12am-2am (Thursday through Saturday to see local regular girls)

There are actually 5 Sport Massage outlets in Batam. This one is the main outlet.

Yes, it's almost directly opposite the standalone KFC/Harmoni Hotel in NED. So basically if u're standing back facing the KFC/Harmoni Hotel, cross the road and it's around that area. It's situated right next to the Circle K convenience store.

3D2N virgin Batam trip quick report

I followed Bro Nono's guide and reach Formosa w/o any issue. Tried King massage and pay school fees- not able to bargain down to 300K so settled at 400k with no.20. Had failed to bargain down with number 12 which intended to chop super big carrot of asking 1m from me and not willing to lower the price, so skip her after 2 hour massage. For member of Formosa Hotel, you will not be awarded any Formosa point if the booking is not done at Formosa website. You may also WhatsApp Formosa staff to arrange for 2-way taxi service from Habour Bay to Hotel and return trip @ 50k

I did not buy any SIM card, so I load the google maps while in Formosa Hotel and experience Batam by foot to Dynasty 99 where I paid 1.1m - I think I paid school fees again, Habour Bay to catch Assassin's Creed etc. Btw, many place have free WIFI, just need to ask politely.

Food wise, had tried A2 food court and 双凤bak ku teh nearby the Biz Hotel along Baba Food Street. And strongly recommend not to miss the curry puff beside Biz hotel, eat it while is hot, super nice. Diana Kuet Lapis also cannot miss, smell super nice and make me hungry on the spot. Btw Diana Kue Lapis are able to deliver to your hotel, price are 250k for original and 300k for prunes kue lapis.

Thanks to all Bro that had contributed in this forum to make my 1st Batam trip a smooth one, let aside the school fees that I had paid. I believe I will do better and continue to sharpen my bargaining skill during my next trip. Cheers.

Thanks for the tips in timings for the pubs and discos, mate. Obviously I went during the wrong timings... crossed them over; went to discos too early and pubs too late.

Will be in Batam again 29 Dec to 3 Jan. Will keep all of your advice in mind.

Ok,thats what some of my money changer told me (as below). It also really depends on each respective money changer shop.

If you change your money in the earlier part of the money,there is a likelihood that what you are getting is Yesterday evening's last closing rate. So if you compare it with today's XE rate,its usually not-so-accurate.

The theory is the same as changing money in Batam during Sat,Sun and Mon morning. It is usually base on Fri's last rate or Sat early day rate.

Example : XE rate is 9500/SGD Friday evening and if the money changer A ONLY buys from the bank on Friday evening and not on Saturday,the rate in that shop thru out Sat and Sun and up to Mon morning will give their customer the best rate of around 9470/SGD.

But if XE rate on Sat is 9600/SGD and money changer B has buy about that amount from the bank on Saturday morning, they will be able to give you a better rate than money changer A thru out Sat,Sun and up to Mon morning. I haven't count in the part that they were able to average out their amount etc yet.

Lesson:
you don't try, you fail immediately,
You tried, you might achieve or at least closer to your goal.

5. Hmm...true to some extend. I have been with my part time boss for a while and over a period of time,i have seen a fair bit in the entertainment scene (he runs several night clubs in Sillypore). However I notice at most time,the wiser ones hold the leash while the not-so-wise one were at most time being held by it (being leashed up).

The wiser man don't try to win over nothing too.

We should not be stingy (i.e., bargain to excess) when we are with a girl who earns little money and have problems to sustain her baby and life, but also do the opposite is wrong (that is, stupid).
One thing is having a generous hearth, another is being stupid.
Finding the appropriate balance is not always immediate, but that is what one should aim at.

c) I refuse to give to children who came to beg rotatingly when I am having my meal or thru a vehicle window in the middle of a busy traffic and I am a stingy man?

d) I buy packets of food from stores to give them to the children (next time I may buy boxes of curry puff instead,hehehe..can feed more of them), buy several indo newspapers which I cannot even read from kids who sells them at 5k each and I am a generous man?

Answer to my above example is an obvious NO,hehehe...egg come 1st or chicken come 1st? Everybody is going to have a different perspective.

In our present case, from which this discussion started, "stupid" people are those who overpay a service, without reason and getting no additional service or quality.
They are "stupid" because:
1) they spend more money than actually needed indeed (thus, they incur in a personal loss);
2) they cause the market price for a service (e.g., massage++) to raise, without a corresponding increase of the quality (thus, they cause a loss to others).

I think we will all agree with the 5th Law, also in this case:

I can say with absolute certainty that the queue will be MASSIVE... At the first scanning point, the queue will likely be all the way till the 7-11 store. When u reach the departure hall, you are not very likely to be able to see the flooring at all. Ferries will all be delayed by 30 minutes if you are lucky; if not, expect the ferries to depart 45-60 mins late.

Be there at least 60 minutes before your stated boarding time and make sure your load your heart with a shitload of patience... LOL...

Yes, it's almost directly opposite the standalone KFC/Harmoni Hotel in NED. So basically if u're standing back facing the KFC/Harmoni Hotel, cross the road and it's around that area. It's situated right next to the Circle K convenience store.

Inside Nagoya Hill Mall, Delta is the only naughty one I know. But, get to King's Massage at Formosa Hotel, almost - almost only - all in that area have some form of plus2 service.

Most spa of Batam do not have that expertise to do that and it will cost quite a bit, not to mention the waiting period of the after-wash which may cost the pool to be shut from customer/s for a bit.

Which could means a lost of income for them.

Looks like the price for CNY eve's ticket is now standardized (all day thru S$60) and i could no longer take advantage of their S$48 deal (during CNY 2016) to go there anymore. Hmm...looks like thru out the whole year round,only during CNY time they have this peak period charges.

And it seems like 2017 onward,there might be a slight change on their ferry timing from Harbour Bay to Harbour front.

If my aim was just going for a see-thru toilet,i wont take BCC's Premier suite but instead would just take their standard Premier room or Deluxe King room,hehehe...which is only about half the stated price. They all have the see thru toilet too and their other rooms dont.

The price of S$100+ is also inclusive of a standing glass shower area plus the bath tub,hehehe...where most other hotels would not have. High floor room and looking down thru the window of that bath tub while bonking my girl,hehehe... (but must be extra careful tho,as the bath tub itself is very slippery)

Visited New Spa yesterday wanting to start the new year with a bang. Learnt from the GRO that due to some issues, their TH2 (FJ package) is temporarily suspended.

Initially,i was looking at Batam City Hotel. No,not their normal room type but their Presidential suite since i saw it during my last trip (https://hive.am/35trip) that it has some kind of promo going at 900k for weekday and 1 juta for weekends.

900k rupiah for a Presidential suite of a hotel with a toilet that has so much mold (and rust) on its tiles isnt acceptable for me. Could that be the reason why they drop the price from 1750 000 rupiah (according to brochure is 1.5 juta,but facebook says 1.75 juta) to 1 million (or 900k on weekdays) rupiah? i do however read in some recent Oct 2016 reviews from other sites that their other room type's toilet were also quite moldy tho.

Went to Batam yesterday. there was no crowd going there. Reach Batam centre at 9, and mall was not opened yet. Decided to walk to see how far I could go. One thing I experienced, for less than 1 km I walked, not less than 10 Ojek stopped me and offered me their services. Finally gave up walking, took ojek to Nagoya, cost me 20K rupiah. Journey was fun, but I was supposed to wear the helmet which is really really dirty.

Had breakfast at AW, killing my time inside the mall. Visited Delta, I believed I was the 1st customer. Hot pool was not really hot yet, decided to go up. Took a normal massage package, it cost me 500K+. Nothing much to say about the massage, it just standard + HJ.

Feeling bored, then decided to go back to SG. Back to Batam Centre and confirmed 5.40 pm ferry. My gosh, the crowd was too much. Maybe it was the last day of holiday so all Singapore were rushing back.

Entry to the kost is controlled by magnetic door, so security is quite good. Speaking from experience as I rented a kost from Apartment Lai Lai for about 1 year before moving to my house 2 years ago. Back then, my rent was 2.45 juta.

When I first rented the kost at Apt Lai Lai in Sept 2013, rental was 2.35jt if I remember correctly. This is for a unit facing Lai Lai Hotel (rooms facing the other side is 200k cheaper). On average, the rental increases by about 100k per year.

One thing not so palatable about Apt Lai Lai is the high cost of the electricity. 100kWh is given free monthly, but sure exceed. On average, I paid about 350-400k more per month for electricity (aircon usually on for 12-14hrs per day).

Wifi access is another add-on cost; they have option for unlimited usage on a monthly charge basis or you can buy based on usage (can't remember how much though, maybe 50k rupiah for 1GB?)

The rooms sizes are the same, but the 2.75jt room faces Lai Lai Hotel/RM Ibu Joko and thus have better ventilation and natural daylight. The 2.45jt room faces the other side and the window is literally just 1-2 metres away from the wall of the next building (back of Batam Star Hotel), which equates to bad ventilation and zero natural daylight. In my opinion, the 300k extra is a must-spend, otherwise the room will probably feel like a prison.

What you don't see in this paper is that they also have a "junior suite" kind of room available for rental, but very limited units; only 1 unit per floor. It comes with a kitchenette, living area and sleeping area. It was 5plus juta several years ago and I suppose the rental now should be about 6juta now.

And the category of girls that I always book cost around 1.2-1.5 juta. Why not just use the money to go for ST? Booking joints do provide St too, albeit you have to do it at their location. I have been using my beginning part of my basic Batam guide in almost all my trips, and if it goes wrong I would have known. But sometime luck do play an important role too. It applies in all countries.

Got the room about 12.30pm, book a 2hour massage package from King. As usual the girl pop the GQ and quoted 1m... ( so i use the trick :1st time to Batam, my friend told me HJ- 100 and FJ-200), and it works..

When you mention the girl's number,i would have known who when she started with 1 juta,hehehe...its a hotel MP afterall and they usually dont come cheaper than those individual shops. But recently,most Utama area of MP's special service pricing went up to be almost on par with Hotel Massage Parlor after bargaining due to an influx by the lesser intelligent.

If you are looking for a better ambience with more quality massage, some Hotel MPs is the way to go,but if you are looking for younger girls with lesser experience in terms of massage skill,Utama should be a better choice. Price-wise for special service, almost the same.

fj 200k ? it is no possible in king massage..

Oh yea,hehehe...not going to comment much becos 200k to 250k fj in King Massage is not what most could get. It is however not impossible. I would not have said that, if I have never got 200k fj in Kings before,hehehe...

Thanks for the up bro, I strongly agree with you that we need to keep to fair price. Just because we are Singaporeans with stronger spending power doesn't mean that we should be taken for a ride. This is particularly true for my follow-on visit to New Spa.

I went to New Spa again on 3 Jan and this time round, I asked the GRO to recommend someone young and pretty. She suggested V**s who matched my requirements. 22 years old, tall (1.68m or so) and slim, pretty and had previously worked in Octopuss for 2 plus years.

Massage was not bad and she was teasing my balls for quite a fair bit during the massage. I asked if she does FJ but she said no, so I didn't want to pursue.

During my vitalitas session, I told her I'll tip her if she strips; she ask how much. I said 100k and she looked shocked, and countered with 350k...! Regarding the guided tour...

I don't claim to be an expert in things Batam. There are bros here who know more things about Batam than me. I do think that, having covered most of the booking joints here on foot, I do have something that I can share with the newer bros. Or those who have been relying on taxis to get around the joints and getting fleeced by these drivers. That why those that bother to pm me, asking me to bring them around, I usually will not reject. But, at the same time, while I seemed to be there almost every week, my travel schedule is quite impromptu type. It's difficult to accommodate many bros at one time. Hence, I almost only being 1 or at most 2 along. I'm not a professional guide, I can't handle too many bros at one time.

The latest bro whom I brought over for 2 days visiting the joints on Saturday, end up, he found 1 cewek at Happy8 for very reasonable price, given that it's New Year's Eve. I'm sorry that I had to make him wait for about an hour in the joint while I had a rolling good time with Cecilia. He knows I'm there for personal matters, so won't be booking any girl and won't be with him after he got his girl settled. So, he kindly offered to wait for me while I ST'ed Cecilia. In fact, he's so happy with his booking cewek that he extended her for another day. I didn't get to see him again for this trip. Bloke must be so pleased with his girl that he even rejected having breakfast with me on his final morning. Lol..

Intelligent as in you know when to withdraw yourself when things (pricing) don't seems right and knowing when to move in for the 'kill'.

I went for my FIRST batam trip by myself (solo) after reading up what the seniors have written here. 2d1n, just to get a feel. All in all, first timer flying solo can definitely try batam. Small place, relatively cheap (even kenna carrot also not wont cost u an arm and leg) near to SG, and so many Singaporeans around there lol.

You stayed in Da Vienna Hotel,if you were to be lazy enough yet isn't as wise and were to blindly tried Vienna Spa,one of your leg or arm would most probably be gone,hehehe...(if you approach that place w/o doing some homework)

I stayed there quite a few times too.

First timer take note. Batam is quite a run down city. The city being the city in general, not referring to any particular place. Ill discuss in more details on individual places i visited. If u are looking for atas stuff, dont look there. By run down, i mean the city is .... "lok kok". (no offence hor) But the price to pay for being run down is ... CHEAP!! If u ask me, im willing to sacrifice atas-ness for what batam has to offer in cheapness.

From my perspective, appearance atas or not isn't important,whats important is if the 'inside' of it is atas,hehehe...I am more into cheap and good aka in your term, atas yet cheap.

Hotel : i stayed in da vienna boutique hotel. The hotel is good! for all the "run down-ness" in batam city, the hotel is definitely not run down. It is really as good as what the various online reviews wrote.

In case no one knows, Da Vienna was one of my back up hotel. If you like Da Vienna,it could means you like those Majestic looking appearance hotel...in that case if you are in Batam the next time round,you may wish to try Pacific Palace or Harmoni Hotel.

There are many internally Majestic-looking hotels in Batam,why Pacific and Harmoni and not Grand I-Hotel,Nagoya Hotel or even Swiss Bel Harbour Bay or Planet Holiday Hotel...reason is simple, the price factor and its location to MOST cheonging places.

Girls : i didnt get a booking girl as i wanted to explore the city as much as possible. So no booking girl joint experience to share.

Once you have an overnight booking girl, you are likely to feel "attached", hence restricting your movement. I usually leave my booking girl in my room for a couple of hours while I move around.

Massage : i went to delta spa massage. 600k package including hj. The joint is also VERY nice. U wont believe the inside is so nice by the look of the outside. Girl is so so. Personally i find it a bit not worth it.... Maybe the girl not chio enough?

Girls do age. The place been in batam for a while.

Its becoming like Yun Nan hair salon after a while where 99% of their targets were foreigners.

Massage (clean type) : i popped into "indothai" and ran out when i see the price list. 300k and up. Disclamer: I am a cheapo. lol. Then i went to a roadside shophouse massage. Simple deco, cant compare to delta spa, clean rooms (no dirty wear and tear marks etc), hall with curtain partition. 80k per hour HAHAHA. 120k two hours. Wow. Pressed until i song song.

Hmm...why run away? When you ran away, you don't get info. Talk to the receptionist or anyone who is in charge there, check for discount. Usually at a certain hour during weekdays, they may have some discount.

Road side massage the ambiance inside the room usually not so good as those in Indo Thai,plus the massage quality not there. Be greedy a bit next time, pay low low price but look for Indo Thai similar standard of room and massage quality... hehehe...the best of both world.

Food : the dish i had the most in batam is a&w root beer float. My favourite. I find it even better the malaysia one. Their spicy fried chicken also v delicious! Ate some ramli styled burger. Nothing to shout about. Ate some roadside stall anyhow order food. (i dont even know the name of what i ordered, just point to opposite table) tasty but give me slight stomach ache.

I am a lazy man,i want like to be serve like a King, if I am in your shoe, i will dial if I am looking for fast food. They deliver your order right to my room doorstep,hehehe...

Shopping : their groceries are cheaper then SG. (no surprises here) Im not a fan of the rest of what the vendors sell in nagoya hill mall. (clothes ect) Lots of cheong branded bags around.

Try BCS mall ,then DC Mall and later Nagoya City Walk Mall the next time. So you know what they have to offer and at the same time make a price comparison the next time you visit Batam again.

I found a vape shop (electric cigarette) somewhere in one of the shop houses opposite nagoya hill. Friendly boss. Good for vapers who can stock up some essential items before heading back home.

Not so sure on this one, but if you planning to bring it back to Singapore, do be extra careful tho. I don't think its legal and Sillypore custom is fond of looking for such stuffs.

All in all, a good experience for me. Nice place, cheap price, highly accessible! I'll definitely be back, i promise.

It has been over 2 years since I've been to Batam, and I just came back after 5 days there. Going for another 5 days from 29 Dec. I don't usually write FRs because most bros who cheong the relevant places I do are so much more knowledgeable than I am. But here is an FR of my trip just done:

Anyway,I will just reply for the sake of allowing myself to know what I would have done if I am in your shoe when i am in similar situation. Not so much on helping you understand but more of me trying to 'absorb' your experience.

Notes:
1. I stayed at Han's Inn. Very central location for me. Price was decent, RP2,020k for 5 nights. I liked the hotel, except for the fact that the internet is freaking slow. I do some work in the day time and I'd like a faster and more stable wifi connection.

Hmm...you should try Barelang Hotel,its a new hotel and when it is new,it also mean new IPs,new network,new routing system etc. And base on your FR,you look like someone who are the night-out guy. And with Barelang Hotel being pretty close to NED (about 5 mins walk),I would say it would be within you budget to stay for the 5 days and 4 nights (or longer if you change your mind).

2. Too old to be a serial bonker, will be evident a little more below.

Day 1: took the 1415hrs ferry and checked in. Did some work then went for dinner. I like drinking, so I walked to Kampong Bule and did some bar-hopping. Drinks prices vary a lot, and I realise some pubs charge tax and service charge while others do not. I was planning on getting a bar girl to go with me for the night.
