You dun need any vn number to grab. U just need wifi to connect to the grab network and book a ride. U need to know a little vn to inform him where u are, to assure him that u need a car.

I always use this trick to prevent them from calling me to verify as mine is registered with my Sinkie number (expensive IDD calls :eek:), I will use the in-app messenger to text them the pick-up place immediately upon confirmation and 99% of the time they will reply OK with no calls :D

Makan
20k dong road side noodles to 3+m dong per pax at restaurant.


Hotel
Anywhere from 300k dong per night ( once at bein hoa ) all the way to abt $9m per night ( hcm riverie hotel ). I went lang co and danang, i pay even higher thn the 9m dong per night also. shall not say price, later bro here call me stupid... hahahaha :D


Massage ( Clean )
this one quite standard, +/- 200k dong per hour. not much diff.
If use lux hotel spa abt 3 - 4x more. usually 90 mins 1 to 2m dong.


KTV n girls
Seldom go. but usually end up ( assuming 4 pax ), mayb abt 1.5 - 2m dong each pax for more atas ones with 2 liquor.

i hv never get a girl from viet ( my frd call ) so only can say ktv all asking abt usd 300 LT. which usually bargain down to abt 250-300 S$ from those slightly atas ktv.

Its the same as hotel, u go lux hotel, the restaurant meal also higher price than the cheap hotel.

girl service from wechat/ bell boy etc, all rush rush, thts wht my frd tell me, abt 100. i no try, so up to u to try

if you expect very good service n low prices compare to malaysia or singapore, its gonna be tough. unless local frd ( gov or biz man ) bring u around or ask a very experience bro to bring u ard.


Transport
1) not so extreme. day use, usually 1.2m to 1.6m.
2) taxi, get vinasun, base on meter.
3) grab, easy to use, not difficult, just make sure the location is correct, cos sometimes gps might b off by some distance ( esp u are in the building or block etc )


Location wise
depend on bros, those regular there, can stay anywhere. me stay d7 now.
those first time there, i think stick to d1, got inexpensive hotel there also. or anywhere u think hv the best day or shopping activities ( example u wana go casino, ben thanh, church, visit gov building, opera etc etc, stay walk distance loh ), thn D1 best bet.


Change Money.
those first time there... dont change in spore.
once pass immigration, change there. firstly safe n rates kinda standard.
change s$1000 compare to those money changer outside ( not bank ). diff only 300k dong per one thousand sing ( or less thn $20 diff per thousand ), not worth the trouble. better be safe. beware of taxi driver taking yr wallet to look for change, also yr bag, they will snatch away while walking on road. yr handphone also.


anyway, abv is just my view, and for first timer. regardless how many times i hv been to hcm, i still a noob, compare to most bros here... haahaha . .. 60% of my trip there is only a day or 2. no cheonging. i remember got one time, morning go, night come bck. hahaha :D i dont station there, so wont be able to advise much, i believe some bros are stationing there, those might b able to gv more info. :D

I tell you real life incidents hor, which you can easily verify with my 4 other regular travelling kakis whom you already know them if we do happened to meet at the airpork again.

In the beginning this Director and Brokenback also same like you, kept insisting the Grab drivers will not call them, so I asked them to book the car instead of me as 99% of the time I am the one booking all the transport in HCM, almost immediately the Grab driver called them back :cool:

Anyway the first time I kena last time I gong gong answered the call cos forgot its linked to my Sinkie number, kns kena IDD calls charges when back in Sinkie.

So when the next time I boarded the Grab car I actually asked the Wetnamese driver direct why they need to call when they already know the pick-up location leh and they replied 2 main reasons,

- firstly many times they encountered Wietnamese will not bother to double check the pick-up address in the app and they just simply key in the destination only so a lot of times the pick-up location is off by a few units due to GPS so the drivers have problem locating the passengers if they dont verify the pick-up address in advance

- secondly most Wetnamese do not like to wait by the street under the hot sun for the Grab car and instead wait inside the house until the drivers call them to tell them they are here so its kinda became a habit liao, when you tapao you will realised the VBs will stay inside the room until the driver call them that they have arrived liao before they will go down.

No right or wrong here but simply a matter of probability & statistics, if you use Grab many times in a day the probability of this happening will increase accordingly.

This is all true. BTW Please update to the latest version of the grab app. They can now make calls thru the app using data. Just like WhatsApp.

I just tried this call service last few days. 2 out of 2 times I cannot hear what they say. Signal/voice quality very lousy. I'm using hotel wifi. I'm not sure will it be better if use data plan for phone.

Try using 4g. The wifi in a lot of hotels are somewhat slow.

Just go a bit west on Nguyen trai to D5, most things pretty good.

I usually just eat road side store. Cheap and good.

One of my favourite that I go each time I am there is Quan An Phuong Khanh, on 140 huynh man dat (off Nguyen trai in D5) They have very good Lau de (mutton hot pot). Owner is Viet Chinese so can speak Chinese.

The other one is Pho Le at Nguyen trai. A bit expensive at 70k but big serving.

For malaysia..... Melaka also hv. I went to one ktv in melaka a few times. Sometime bck. Dunno still open. U want I pm u. LT 550rm. From Girl ok to leave til 10am. Pay to ktv. 10am they will arrange transport to pick them up frm yr hotel.

Value for dollar. All viet, that time quality n quantity all hv. Not sure still open. Can try find out

Actually hor most of the ones that go overseas are those that have already outgrown their "expiry" dates at home, so need to go overseas so lesser competition from those younger new waves :D

Thats why most of the time when they are overseas they are much more fiercer as they are old birds & eagles liao :cool:

There will always still be the odd places in any places regardless of cities or rural areas, in HCM you can still get 2m & 2.5m for LT in some local KTVs but unfortunately many dinos & zombies so normally our group visit once & thats it, even if I wana go my other kaki will kill me.......:D

Our modus operandi is more on quality vis-a-vis prices so now if it is 4m LT maximum we will still take but seldom more than that :cool:

I dunno if it is just me but KL KTVs are damn expensive and playability quite low if any at all :(

Melaka KTVs damn jia lat cos mostly run by those syndicates that basically "enslaved" those poor naive VBs :cool: years back when they first open up there were quite a number of poor VBs that got trapped in this and one of those was our dear Zaryl's old flame and she told us those real stories :eek:

Thats why they will practically escort them to your hotels and escort them back :cool:

This reminded me one time we had to walk the tarmac of the Budget airport of sg, this old vn lady laboured to carry her barang 2. The gentleman in me( very rarely seen) offered to carry her wet market bag which was totally heavy and was rewarded with a beautiful succulent mango when we reach the inside of the airport.

Depends lor. There are many vietbuis that simply prefer to work in MY or SG. They don't want to work locally. But as with SG, MY has been cracking down and the general weakness of the RM has discouraged many of the nicer ones to return.

Quality is a toss up. But there are nice ones that are as good as home turf if you know where to look.

KTV in MY is still decent if you don't go for the really atas ones. With a group of 4 blokes, can budget in 500 each for room/beer/girl sitting.

If want to tapau, better arrange your own unless you really like the girl you sit with. But playability is on the low side.

The ones I go still ok, still got the old VCD karaoke system, that time Pioneer brand is almost everywhere, only thing need to refer to a book for the lyrics, those were the weird old days :D

Now this Live electric organ method still have in HCM orh in those "Hat Voi Nhau" joints......only thing its open and you need to go on-stage to sing but at least got a screen to show the lyrics but its live music playing from the electric organ player :cool:

I also so long never go Greater Karimun. Last time I only eat fish so go fish for soon hock. Eat till gao gao. Also there got Tanjong batu. That one so stone but so many tenggiri that they make fish balls. That island so small I accidently found my boat man there who otang me one juta. In the hinderland of Sumatra especially facing Malaysia got many SYT. I know it is obvious but in one kampong very ulu I stumbled upon so many cina you can have a cina Farmhouse. But like i said I was always minding my own business, fishin and bashing thro tropical jungles. Sometimes if no preplan fire plan, adventures awaits the fisherman

I travel on weekends nia nia cos annual leaves is damn Pte Ltd liao due to too many overseas trips, was tinking can pop over Sat & Sun then no need take leave but like what you said, must be damn early or else eat leftovers liao :o

Actually to each his own cos everyone will have their own thoughts & analysis as to when & where to buy :cool: sometimes I see some even arguing until like life & death situations on forums with each claiming too be very knowledgeable but they only regurgitate what they have read from others whom they perceived to be knowledgeable which those other people also actually read from others....ETC & the vicious cycle goes on.....:D

There are a lot of things that I should have taken the risks/plunge years ago and I chickened out due to uncertainties & differing opinions & I have regretted some of them until today :cool:

In simple words take calculated risks if you can afford the money as long as those are additional funds you can afford to spend (not borrow or clear out your savings) and/or if you are buying for somebody else (which please don't as it undermines relationship esp if it is a Viet spouse) ;)

Offer price maybe around 34 to 35mil psm...:)

A group of us bought in the west of hcm last year around 20mil psm...but those lobang will never come back becos Akari City launched recently phase 1 and fully sold out at around 31 to 33m psm...:)
