Warning - what I copied from FB

Tess Tan —
Disappointing, especially after reading the -mostly-positive reviews online. Food was OK, like eating at a zi char stall, but everything was WAY overpriced. We had the fried prawn paste chicken wings (large serving) which cost $48 - you could barely taste the prawn paste flavour. Had crab (1.4KG) glutinous rice @ $168. Fish soup was good but at $128? Not worth it - you can totally do it yourself at home. Our bill came up to $700+ for a table of 7, when we hadn't had any dishes with expensive ingredients - just the crab & fish soup? There are so many other restaurants with better food at much more reasonable prices in Singapore. Take your $$$ elsewhere! You've been warned.

Zheng Xing Fried Kway Teow Mee. Toa Payoh Lorong 8 Market #01-35.

The least oily char kway teow I've ever eaten in Singapore but still packs full taste. No long queues here as they use a queue system and you're handed a black numbered disc. Note the number display. I love that the tow gay (bean sprouts) is cooked yet crunchy. The see ham (cockles) are still bloody. Not too sweet or salty. Normal chilli added isn't spicy enough so I always ask for more. This is a $3 portion. Available for $4 with $1 for extra cockles. One of the cleanest if not THE cleanest food stall I've seen in Singapore. Business hours? When they feel like selling. Usually if open, 12-7 pm or they sell out. They're very popular when open.

Wing Seong Fatty’s (Albert) Restaurant

Upon some chatter on an old Fatty Weng 肥仔荣 name on the social media, I got to know that the original stall (which used to be at Albert Street) is now located at Burlington Square. (Not to be mixed up with the Fatty Weng Restaurant at Smith Street or the one at Singapore Badminton Hall)
Made my way down to savour a past favourite and pleasantly noticed some helpers were still around, albeit with grey hair now.
Personally I would not say they were as good as before but not a fail. However I must also confess that my tastebuds would have also changed with time and cannot expect the status quo.
This time, I went for their sang mee (crispy seafood noodles which is probably the best of the lot), claypot liver (missing the pork taste), roast chicken (not dry but shd hv been served w salt, pepper and prawn crackers), lohan vegetables (bit on the bland side).
Their current signatures will be meat roll, Singapore prawn fried rice, chilli kangkong and house tofu.
A nostalgic affair nonetheless...

With the increase in water prices, looks like these drinks vendors are following suit... is the increment really proportionate to the hike or are they simply profiteering ?

Saw a member's post on 麻辣香锅.. couldn't resist the temptation. So we went to this popular stall in people's park for dinner last night to satisfy our cravings!! You won't miss it when you are there cos it's the one with a long queue. You order in front.. and collect from the back. They are a little different from other stalls that i have patronized as they do not charge according to weight. You need to tell them the no. of people sharing (一人份, 两人份) then the staff will just grab the ingredients you want.. It's hot and spicy!! Super shiok!!

Just for info: my 一人份 cost $9 and the super big bowl shared by 3 of my colleagues cost $36.50 but they were struggling to finish so in the end the massive load of food was consumed by all 6 of us!!

Used to frequent this place during the old Ginza Plaza days when fresh imports come in few times a week week which are then cut and sold at retail. Upon my recent return, I was pleasantly surprised they have renovated by adding more seats and expanded the Mart.
Apart from a full menu of sushi, noodles and starter items, customers can choose from the chillers ready-to-serve sashimi and ask the chef to slice them and serve them for dining.
There are also whole fishes and clams that can be served raw or cooked.
At this mall now there are also a few sportswear factory outlets where you can get some bargains when there.

This stall serves good portion at good prices that taste pretty good. I believe a lot has to do with lower rental at industrial areas but this is one stall I felt that is worth a mention.
Caution that this stall does have its following of workers from surrounding areas so a queue is expected.

Yong Tau Foo, SG50 建国时代

Saw KF Seetoh recommendation in New Paper today.

Last Sunday, long queue at this Yong Tau Foo stall caught our attention at the Bukit Merah View Food Centre. A newly opened stall that had quite won over the neighborhood as we saw many coming with 'tingkat' or containers for takeaway.

It is unsurprising for the stall's popularity because handmade Yong Tau Foo stall is hard to come by; especially one that is going for a song - $3 consists of noodle and 9 pieces of Yong Tau Foo! If this is too mild for you, go for their Ampang-styled Yong Tau Foo, named Yuan Yang ($6); or the deep fried platter ($4).

Having assurance of the homemade goodness, we returned tonight to a comfortable crowd for another MSG-free meal.

$15 each full duck is definitely a good price. Worth a shot... @People's Park ground floor near MRT exit. Anyone tried this ?

It's an actual live-spin tempered glass oven n sold at a friggin ridiculous $15 fr whole duck...uncut only n bochap. Allo, at that price wadaya expect..a Chinook flypast with a banner screaming "bojio". !!
This one ah, best finger eaten with four buddies n four cold2 beers. At Peoples Park grd flr..nx to mrt exit.

Latest- folks, dun rush it, they will be around for quite a while. They may mess up cooking methods/rules and your orders as the queues have stretched to 2hour long waits. Go this weekend or later..

Singapore 099114
Opens Mon to Sat :
9.30 am to 7.30pm
Closed on Sundays
Price from $2.50
(Next to Harbourfront MRT and Seah Im Bus Interchange)
Quite an impressive stall manned by 2 gentlemen in their 30s with nice Taiwanese street eats on the menu.
The signature here is the full flavor yet not overwhelming braised pork rice 招牌卤肉饭. Mee sua 大肠面线with intestines is quite like the Taipei 阿宗面线. Salt and pepper chicken pieces 盐酥鸡 and fried intestines 炸大肠 are not over-fried. Braised cabbage 卤白菜tastes great and soft too too. Bittergourd pork ribs soup 苦瓜排骨汤 is light and not salty or bitter.
The queue can be long.

Kiat Huat Wanton Mee
吉发云吞面
Haig Road Market and Food Centre
14 Haig Rd #01-62
Singapore 430014
Opens 10.30am-8pm
Closed on Thursday
Prices from $3
Dropped by at Haig Road Food Centre for Putu Piring and ended up with this old school wanton mee.
Stall was around since 1977 dishing out Cantonese style noodles stirred in dark sauce with sesame oil. The spicy version has chilli with "hei bee hiam" in it and can be pretty hot for some.
The specialty of this stall is the handmade egg noodles used which is really q... The wanton, be it fried or boiled, is pretty meaty.
Serving is pretty ample too.
Rival wtm stall, Hoe Huat, is like only 2 stalls away, also has its own customer base.

ShunFu Mart Food Centre honestly is not a destination for lots of good food, it was built in 1980’s, the Market and Food Centre has become a little run down, but one particular stall attracted me to come all the way here is this Char Koay Teow (or Char Kuay Tiao).
The only place that serves Char Koay Teow with an Otah in this hawker centre. Finding this stall is easy, once you reach ShunFu Mart Food Centre, look for a queue, it’s this stall.
The first impression I had of the fried kway Teow was very wet and oily. It was a generous amount of koay teow, fresh cockles, eggs, fish cakes with a handful of beansprouts and Chinese sausage. Be take note this was $2.50 portion.
When I've had the first bite, it was moist with strong fragrance yet not too much of wok hei and not overly greasy feeling. The healthy part is that no pork lard is added in but you could request for it if you like to have them. It was surprisingly good!
This is one of the best and one of the most underrated foods I've had in Singapore and you ask "Will I return?!" Confirm a YES when I craved for any Char Koay Teow! Fans of Char Koay Teow, you definitely do not want to miss this.

Queue or no queue? Guess everyone who is in the line think like this.🤔 Saw a couple of guys leaving the queue after a while.🚶🏾
.
This is the second time we joined the queue. First time we gave up and bought the prawn mee stall instead. After a while, we ordered takeaway Wanton Noodle $3.5. We tasted the noodle and it is not as springly as we would have liked. The highlight are their own in house roasted Char Siew & Wanton (3 wontons in the pack). 🍲
.
We feel so stuffed by the gigantic noodle. Not quite satisfied with the overall Chili taste. If visit Pek Kio market again, we have some idea which queue to join instead.👌🤓

I personally prefer the dark roasted char siew with fatty belly portion....available at good roasted meats stalls that also sell noodles

One example would be Fong Kee (shit..did i rem the name correctly?) along Keong Saik Road....the only roasted meats stall along that road. After you pass Kok Sheng Zi Char by...walk on further down the road, the stall would be on your left. Avoid lunch time, for sure. Not too sure if they open for dinner time as I have not gone there for dinner

Their char siew, is thoroughly roasted with sweet caramel coat on the outside, making it so damn crispy and when your teeth sinks further in, oh my, that is when the gastro-orgasm is happening....the juice just gets squirted out and the soft soft pork melts in your mouth and you wouldn't want it to stop but you have to swallow it so that you can put another piece into your mouth and restart the cycle again...oh my, I just jizzed myself

Oh my the way you described it .... I almost cum too :D
