as you have been there umpteen times ( i am sure ), you must know the place very well...

Actually i would like to go there and check out Jkt, look see only if you will, kinda like an intro visit...Just a short three day visit.

So i need a place to stay ( clean and simple and safe not too ex, maybe up to $50sg), and some places I can meet girls (free lancers) and massage . As for shopping and stuff, I think I can manage. Hope i am not asking too much......Just some recomendation will do lah....do not need to be in details

Tried to negoiate with him but driver didn't agree, saying he is the special in-house cab for GC as he pay them monthly license fee. He threatened to drive me back to GC. Got no choice but to ask him to proceed. Ended up paying him Rp30k through the help of the hotel staff and the security guard (it helps that he is carrying a rifle). Though not a big amount, was feeling very mad for kena rip-off.

Next day, having learnt my lession, got the silver bird to drive me to melawai hotel (after reading the post from one of the bros here) and asked the cab to wait for me. Paid Rp300k and got to choose from more than 30 pros. Room is dirty though the gal is pleasant. Anyway, she offered to come to my hotel for Rp400k for 1 hr and gave me her hp. Any bros can comment is this the market rate?

Place renovated but quiet compared to before. Girl were not as many too and not too friendly.... Only 2-3 local and one Bule customer when I was there.... Drinks is also more costly now.

The place is H20, a nicely decorated bar or maybe a lounge on the 2nd floor of a japanese resturant next to Fine Karaoke in Block M.. It's painted in Blue on the 2nd floor and the place is so small with a bar counter for 5, a table for 5 and another sofa below the stairway for another 6 maybe. The 3rd floor is painted in white with a pool table and in term of design, it is kinky and very posh. As usual, it is totally quiet and we were the only customer there for drinks. Later came a few police as I was told to "check-out" the place.........

left and proceed to Falentehan area, A small lane behind Block M bus terminal and my god... those old run down bar and pub have undergone some face lift and I presume would be like maybe Duxton in a yea or so...

First Stop is "D's Place", quite a new joint. The ground floor is a small British like pub with lots of Bule and ger..... Yes... Should be 40-50 of them. Went on to the 2nd floor, a so called disco with a dance floor for maybe 20 head max?? Nice place I would say and yes.. Special indeed being the once Chinese there with 2 local friend surrounded by hundreds of girls and some Bule..... Girl came and ask for drinks.... Told her no but she can drink from our jugs only no new order allowed.... Why??? hehe... I do not like her..... Then I met this lady... Wasn't she the one that left with Toresoul???? hahaha.... Talked a little and she suggest we go down the street to another Bar cum disco that opened just last week.... okay..

Off we went together down the street to "My Bar".... Wow... I would thought this is located inside some 5 star hotels if I have came half drunk and not on this sleezy street in the middle of nowhere. Decor wise.. I would say the best that I have seen so bar. Comparable to Embassy Disco or ever better. unfortunately, it was not as crowded as I expected considering it have the biggest dance floor in this neighbourhood with a nice DJ stands, Some Bangkok like or rather, Tanurmall like dancing rod or pole in the dance floor.... Play pool a little and as usual, it was not long before some ladies... came asking if we could buy them a drink... She is so old.....hahaha... Bule like them maybe.... My little girlfriend of mine smile and suggest we ignore her....Couldn't have agreed more......hahaha.... It was closed to midnight when we left and was told the place would be packed only around 1 am when the bar around the area closes and girls would all gather here...

Anyway, decided to check up the newer and most famous bar/disco in the sorth.... Name is Centro located inside the new Damawansa Complete. Heard so much about it but never knew where it is... Lucky this friend of mine knew and so off we went.... Reach there in 10 min and surprised it is closed... Shit....attiude problem??? Dolly is only a km from Shangri-la. A word of warning to the uninitiated and faint-hearted: the place looks and feels INTIMIDATING but to seasoned old eagles like yours truly, its nonconsequential.....sup sup sway.
I had been to Surabaya numerous times but usually for only a nite. In my most recent trip two weeks back, I stayed for four nights and head for Dolly every single nite.
On my first trip years back, a local friend drove me past the place but refused to let me alight, saying that its too dangerous for me - a misquided assumption which I had since proven wrong many times over.
I was able to sample Dolly's delights only on a later trip when I was with two Indo friends; one from Bandung and the other from Semarang. They are seasoned chiongsters but even they would not venture into the smaller lane, prefering to walk me along Jalan Jarak only. Despite my exhortations to explore that more interesting offshoot, they insisted on our getting the chix from the main road only.
As I had observed and noted the route I was driven along, I headed for Dolly alone on my next trip and of course went right into that tributory road.
Rainman; this is NOT the place for you but Martini and xyz7766 would feel at home. I believe Moon would be ok with it too.
Anyway, the atmosphere is that of a rough neighbourhood but despite the constant "harrasments" of the pimps, there is absolutely no danger at all. The lowlife were there to make a living (as okts, not thieves or robbers) and if you do not start to make trouble, they won't. Of couse the usual common sense caution of not flaunting your valubles (and bravado) still apply.
I hate their annoying practice of touching/holding my arm and even worse, putting theirs round my shoulders but they are actually harmless; in fact they are quite polite. Not so me. I usually slapped their hands away but with a smile. Most of them now know me so well that if one who did not know me were to start to reach out for me, the rest would laughingly warn him off.

This is definately NOT the place for the kiasi, but for the worldywise, its a cheap fun place to chiong. The choices are plentiful too.
Btw, I had four splendid and memmorable melons during my last trip and I went there at about midnight each time. Prices for 90mins ST ranges from Rp55k to Rp80k. I was quoted up to Rp500k for overnight and had two before on previous trips; once at Rp280k and another at Rp220k...after much wrangling.

Jakarta each way at RM88.88 plus airport taxes & insurances
(have to take bus or taxi to Senai of course - not that bad if you know how)

B) From KLIA

1) Bandung from RM 99.99 each way plus airport taxes & insurances

2) Surabaya from 139.99 each way plus airport taxes & insurances

The departures are early morning, so you take overnight coach (last 10pm departure) to KL and train to KLIA from KL Sentral. Fucking Taxi from KL to KLIA will cost you RM80 - can you imagine that?

Remember that these fares can only be enjoyed if you book via the internet at their site and comply with their "booking period" and "travel period" for all these promos.

Theres more bargain than we have time to access from what I can see.

Think I will either check out the Jakarta promo or the Bandung promo next opportunity. Have a nice lady in Atmosphere Bandung who I want to win over - unfinished business form last trip there!

Anyway, last nite, I enjoed the Kampong chicken very much ! And we were drinking like from 5pm till 3am anyway! No wonder the kampong chicken had a good demo that this old uncle can tahan lama last nite which was unusual!

Located very near to CGK Airport is a local redlight area called Dadap or something close to it in pronounciation. It's nothing more than a one-street shanty town of near-dilapidated huts housing bars, pubs and karaoke joints.
Rainman had been there once but he wouldn't get off his vehicle much less to set foot..:D
I was there two weeks ago; a local friend drove me there at my repeated behest but he would not accompany me due to the fact that his nearby shop is being patronized by the ceweks and he wouldn't want to be recognized. As taxis are hardly spotted in the vicinity, my friend told me to call him when I'm finished and he would pick me up.
It's a place strictly off-limits to the faint hearted. Only those who had walked the mean streets of the real ugly world would not tread with fear along it's dark foreboding dirt track.
Stretching for a few hundred metres, the place is alive at night with loud music, red lights and painted ceweks.
Much more than a hundred of them lined the joints along the track. Most of them had seen better days and slimmer shape but a significant minority are quite young and pretty.
I spent over half an hour giving all the joints and its denizens the once over. I fended off persuasive bothersome okts. As I've reiterated umpteempth times, such places are dangerous only in the mind of the nanny boys. Wordlywise chiongsters could stroll nonchantly without any trouble; with the religious observance of the cardinal rule of not looking for it.
I was actually spoilt for choice; spotting at least half a dozen youthful melons.
I finally settled on a cheerie 18 y.o. sweetie-pie melon named Ita.
She was not very experienced but her bubly personility more than make up for it. However, the "room" is a huge letdown. It's not more than a rat hole; cramped, hot, smelly and without water.
I hurriedly went through what she had to offer and made a hastly beeline outside once I finished; which is a paltry 10 minutes or so.
I was attracted to the goods - at least to a few percent of them - but was thoroughly put off by the "rat hole".
As for return visit? Yes, but just to stroll around and shop for the cewek to "ta-pau".
Anyway the damage for my ST is 100K though my friend told me it's 70K for the locals.

footnote: As I waited for my friend to pick me up, I actually spotted empty taxis cruising by....two of them within 3 minutes of each other.

was in jkta this week. was staying in mandarin oriental. tried the massage at the health centre. quite a gd massage. oso went to a ktv that is owned by my friend. this ktv is located at the golden boutique hotel. was told tat they intend to expand the size of the ktv over three floors. expect to complete the expansion within the next two months. they got a fleet of chinese as well as local gers. drinks and room are cheap, tipping is the usual upmarket rate of IDR500k each. wonder if this was true or was i a 'robert' by chance? anyone care to advise?:confused:

Then 50kIDR is still too much. Sounds like a 1-2USD/shot area in Cambodia.
Once I met a quite reasonable around 25y/o hooker somewhere at railway station in JKT. She stood at the street, agreed on 50kIDR. We went to nearby rooms, I had to pay another 20kIDR for 2hrs room.
Before enter the room, you get key, fresh bedsheet, towel. Attached bathroom, toilet and water vat to por over. No smell, no rats, cleaner than expected. Paid her 70kIDR for excellent service and returned even twice to her on a boring afternoon.

Pending the Master himself’s arrival back home later tonite, let me post a preliminary brief report of his first 2 days in Indoland.
Pablo was received at CGK airport on Wednesday evening by no less a personage than Ximen-Chao, umpteenth descendent of one of the greatest tongue artists of ancient China; Ximen-Ching (from the Golden Lotus).
Surviving the horrendous traffic of Jakarta’s chaotic new “busway system”, they were met by yours truly slightly before dusk at the lobby of the aptly named Olympic Hotel which was to be the venue of Pablo’s “Indo tongue painting olympics”. After leaving his bags, we set off to a short rendezvous with Rainman and his buddies at a nearby karaoke.

First stop after dinner was at the highly popular La Artists club in the Pen-Jay canvas stockists enclave. The other two top outlets there are the Sari Artists club and the Master Tongue-artists Rhapsodic club.
The canvas selection at the three clubs was wide enough to cater to differing artists’ preferences and tastes.
All sorts of Javanese canvas was available; with an occasional chinese silk or two thrown in for good measure. Pablo cast his experienced eye over the dozens of stocks on the shelves and settled on a juvenile material which was the newest arrival at the L-A club. But sad to say, before he could get to work on the delicate tapestry, crimson weevils began to attack the fine threads, rendering the fabric unsuitable for painting. Pablo had no wish to subject his tool-of-the-trade to such onerous contamination, so he returned to see the club manager and with the help of Ximen demanded and summarily received an immediate full refund. He rejected the manager’s offer of other stocks in his inventory as they were not as recently-manufactured as his unfortunate first choice.

He hopped across the street to the Sari Artists club and managed to get one of equivalent quality and newness at a even slightly lower price than the first instance.
Back in the hotel, Pablo set to prepare his material and other implements and in ten minutes he was ready to begin work. He phoned me and invited me over to view his first attempt of his eventual three practice runs of the night; before his scheduled performance at the Top Contemporaries college of fine arts the following afternoon.

I shall leave it to Pablo himself to describe the vivid details of those painting sessions.

As I have my business meetings for the whole of Thursday, I did not accompany Pablo to the T-C college.
We met again only for dinner and then it time to do his purchase of fresh canvas once again.
So off we went to Pen-Jay but history repeats itself in S-A club where we landed and the fine-thread-count canvas he purchased turned out to be another dud. Ximen got him another refund but Pablo had by then lost his inspiration after his aborted practice run at the club’s premises and he retired for the nite without any brush work.

On Friday morning, Pablo set off to a couple of malls to check out the independent canvas vendors before his afternoon performance at a artist colony in a rougher neighbourhood.

Not not bad for Pablo after all lah.
He got his full refund both times and he painted thrice on the replacement canvas the first nite.
Though he did not paint in earnest on his second nite, he did get to closely inspect and test the canvas' fine texture for free. Morever, earlier that afternoon he did perform at the T-C college. And just yesterday morning he got another freebie inspection on an independent silk stockist too.
Ask him about his Friday afternoon canalside seminar at Tanah Abang and his evening workout lastnite on your flight back together.

Let me know your plans tonite. Shall we activate hustler and gang for a midnite kopi at you know where?

At last I have found a moment to write an Arts Review following my trip to JKT from 14 to 17.01.04:

First of all, I would like to thank Ximen once again for his kind hospitality. He took the trouble to pick me up at the airport and bring me to the hotel, that was very kind of him. After checking in, Ximen, Phenom and I met Rainman at a nearby KTV, after which we made our way to an art gallery. JKT is indeed a very nice cultural centre.

Canvas number 1, thread count of 14/sq cm had to be returned to the seller due to red particles suddenly appearing on the canvas a hour or so after the purchase. What a shame, that was a very fine item recently brought in from a countryside cotton mill. I would have loved to tongue paint that specimen.

Canvas number 2, thread count of 16/sq cm served me well. I painted three masterpieces on it, at 11pm, 3am and 7am. Phenom witnessed the first demonstration and took some notes whilst the Master tongue painted. Your efforts will eventually be rewarded, dear Student.

Canvas number 3, thread count of 15/sq cm was of average quality. It served its purpose for some afternoon practice and smearing of paint here and there.

Canvas number 4, thread count of 16/sq cm was thoroughly inspected for 20 minutes. The Master eventually returned the canvas for a full refund as it reacted badly an instant before the tongue got into contact with it.

Canvas number 5, thread count of 15/sq cm. Reacted very well to tongue painting. Good chemistry, resulting in nice special effects on a very wet surface. Once the first coat of paint was dry, a second coat was applied just as successfully.

Canvas number 6 (thread count of 14/sq cm) and canvas number 5 were painted on simultaneously! The Master found great inspiration in painting on 2 canvases of this grade at the same time for more than 90 minutes. All angles were covered several times on each piece of art. Touch-ups will be made during my nest visit to Indonesia.

During this trip, I was unable to source any canvas from canal and railway trackside vendors. Greater attention will be paid to this alternative source in the future, especially since the thread count me be even finer there for a lower cost.

I will keep you informed of future seminars.

Great FR, Pablo though a little too brief.
Would like to see a more thorough description of your simultaneous painting of masterpieces numbers 5 and 6.
That they are from the same factory though manufactured a year apart makes your work even more interesting. And I'm also looking forward to your next trip when you would endeavour to attempt an unprecedented triple paint job on your nos. 5, 6 and an even finer thread count canvas of 12/sq cm fromn the same factory yet again. Have you placed your advance booking with the plant manager yet? I might lend you a hand...on the coarser thread count material with my airbrushing as I am hopeless with tongue painting.

The FR was done in a rush after a heavy dinner, sorry fellow artist.

Yes, I have asked to purchase the canvas thread count canvas of 12/sq cm but was told that I would have to come back another time. Patience is a vertue... I will be back!

Canvas 5 reacted very well to tongue painting, better than canvas 6 as a matter of fact. However, canvas 6 would have been ok for airbrush painting without latex cover which is something I do not practice outside my residence. The joy of simultaneous painting two canvases coming from the same factory (some cotton mill, produced by the same two staff) is difficult to describe. I would tongue paint one canvas for a while and all of a sudden change to the other and vice versa. Eventually I finished tongue painting No. 5. I tried the same technic on No. 6 but towards the end high pressure airbrush technic was required. Once I tought No. 6 was completed, I tried a few airbrush strokes on No. 5. By then both canvases were very damp and any tool was suitable. I could not resist the creative stimuli and started airbrush painting, alternating frequently. The latex cover started sliding so I took it of to change it. No. 6 placed the airbrush at the centre of the canvas and said "Masuk!" and it took me a while to torturously refuse the offer and replace a cover on it. A little more airbrush painting followed before the cover was taken off again and that brush needed to be blown in an effort to dislodge a paint clot further up the pipe. Both 5&6 took turns blowing. In the end I asked 6 to finish that job as her sucktion was more effective and touched up No. 6 one more time with my tongue. Without warning, a sizeable clot came off and landed in No. 6's sucktion head. Some dribled out whilst No. 5 was watching closely. Without second thoughts, 6 moved and stuck her tongue brush in my tongue brush holder and the two tongue brushes were used to mix the remaining paint. 5 joined in and that was fun too. Tongue brushes 5 and 6 did not come into contact, the closest I managed to position them was simultaniously on each side of the airbrush for a final clean-up.

As I relive these intense moments and recall the the beauty of the canvas frames (15: B to C, 14: B-), my airbrush beeps signaling that the battery is charged. Thus, I will now close my eyes and imagine what thread count 12 looks like whilst I manually clear another paint clot.

i'm from belgium but living and working in jakarta for the last 2 years.
i've been to many places all over town but i'm still looking for "the" place.
baseikly u can get a HJ or a BJ in every SPA u want all over town even in the fancy hotels like HILTON and so on...
Spa's r nice but not my cup of tea.
in kota u can find many many small hotels with KTV's and spa's and even fuck joints.
untill few mounth i used to go to a place called "travel hotel" 3rd floor u go in pick up a girl from behind glass a window all r native indonesian but young good looking maybe 10-15 girls just choose.(no knokouts but ok)
u pay the mama 175,000Rp which is really cheap!! u get a condom from her and a cup of water.
the girl comes lead u to a room (i think there r 10 rooms).
rooms r nice with AC and shower many mirrors. but also very clean.
she shower with u and clean her self and u then BJ and FJ. u have 1 hour ,
been there maybe 5 times with differnt girls service was good with all.

And I tried to go back. But I could not take a blue bird tax from Kota Indah. In Pangejaran Jayakarta, a few blue bird run. Many guys of Bajai and other dangerous taxi tried to rip me off. I was scared. I should have hired a silver bird. However sometimes from a hotel there is no silver bird and is forced to take a blue bird. Blue bird taxi driver does not want to wait. So I shoould take a risk. But it is worthy taking the risk, since good melon is over there. :o
