I have mentioned many times about this topic, if you changing maybe 500 SGD n if u staying in Jurong West, while the exchange is in Bedok n different is 0.1... will u go all the way there to change? Assume 23.5 vs 23.6, u gain 0.1 X 500 = 50 THB. Your effort will cost more than 50 THB. Unless u telling me u exchanging in high thousands...then different story.

If u think it is worth the effort, might as well head down to Raffles Place, there are many exchange shops there for u to compare, else head to golden miles.....

It's not gonna make much of a difference whether u changing here or there if what u intend to change is less than 1000SGD,

Superrich gives the best rate from what i know, and they're almost everywhere in bkk

for example, if u intend to change like sgd2k, change it there, the rates are slightly better, and do bring them in 1000 notes

just change enough here for some minimal expenses when u reach bkk

there's normally a 0.05 difference between changing in 1000 notes and lower denominations.

this is how they have it on the board:

2-100 (notes) = 23.85
1000 (notes) = 23.90

$1000 in $100 notes you'll get 23850
$1000 in $1000 note you'll get 23900

but if u look at it this way, its only a 50baht diff, that's like only 2 something dollars

go to the arcade, then go superrich website. You have the actual rate in thailand and singapore. Both presume to be best rate in singapore and thailand. That way you can have the most of your exchange:cool:

It pays to read n be street smart. Excuses like no time is lame. A post earlier than yours had given u a hint.

Just change where it is convenience to you. U won't want to waste 2-3 hours traveling effort for a mere 0.01 or even 0.05 difference right? Assume u changing 1000 SGD, the different is only 50 thb unless u telling me u changing 100,000, 1 mil SGD.

Depends... If you talking about sg shopping malls in the neighborhood area, then majority of them is lower than what you getting from i.e Chinatown/Raffles and so forth. However if you changing probably about 500 sgd then the amount of differences is very low, probably lost about 80 cents to 1$ sgd.

If you talking about Super rich which usually one of highest rate, then maybe yes. If you changing 1K with 1K note sgd, you will get 23400฿.

Otherwise if small notes to make up 1K is 23.25 for Super rich and Chinatown offering 23.33.

If you are changing large amount...... their underground banking networks give the best rates.

Rates are always poor at the airports. Change some before flying in or wait until you reach town to change.
Last week rates amongst the different moneychangers in Suva airport ranged between 20.95 - 22.85. None offered above 23 but I manage to get 23.25 at SuperRich Makkasan.

Thai baht is appreciating. Compare it to most currencies, (in fact all the currencies I use frequently, cambodian, Laos, malaysia, US, hong kong, vietniam...) can see the obvious scary trend. Time to stop going LOS for now. My friends working in thailand are laughing their balls out.

The rates at airports are always a tick lower than those outside the airports even for the same banks. It is the same in every country.

The baht is on an upward trend now and probably will peak just before Songkran and decline again after that.

The SuperRich website has real-time rates for all the branches. But beware, some branches hv super long queuing time, the worst is the Rama 9 branch, kenna 80 minute wait there. These days, I just go to my nearby moneychanger in Singapore. If changing several thousand amount then they can usually match SuperRich rates. But if u got the rare One Thousand SG dollar note then maybe go to SuperRich.

Rates at airports are usually poor compared to moneychangers in town. People usually change a small amount of the local currency for travelling expenses to their hotel..... then change the bulk of their $$$ in town.

U can take the airport train to the city if u r not carrying too many bags.
Once in city u can choose to take the BTS (depending if u r staying near one), taxi (using meter), even the bikes if u dare(ask for price before u take). Tuk Tuk need to nego the price first n they can take 4 pax maybe 5 sometimes(sit on the floor board).

For bros that are changing money, there are two different SuperRich companies - SuperRich1965 (Orange Logo) & SuperRich Thailand/Oh! Rich (Green Logo).

Went to Central Rama 9 yesterday, the Green SuperRich was offering 26.1 (crowded) while Orange SuperRich was at 26.05 (empty). Now Green SuperRich making people fill in even more details like contact number, email & hotel room. Change money also so mafan.

But always see the Orange SuperRich at Asok BTS with long line, guess not much difference for small amounts lah.
