The last time I checked with their SG branch they charge S$100 for the first min S$1000 and follow by S$70.00 for the next S$1000. The money will be credited right away if you have a Bkk bank account and you also can update your bank book during their banking hours.

Bro, your maths failed la, example sgd $1,000 they charge sgd $100, that is 10% remitted fee, 2nd sgd $1,000 they charge another $70 which is 7%, so example ฿25 x 90% (after minus the remitted fee) = ฿22.5, correct me if I'm wrong.

What i understand from sin MC is the rates here is only slightly better then Bkk MC, but if u changing like big amount example sin 30k and above, u have no choice to change in Bkk, reason is Singapore custom only allow u to bring sin 30k per trip out from Singapore.

Guys, there are 3 main ways for your THB fix:

1) Outward remittance (from Sg). You BUY thb from either banks or remittance shops (GM or Western Union).

There's a cost to handling cash -so banks thb SELLING rate maybe marginally better than cash (which explains 24.86 transfer from Bkk Bank Sg to THI). BUT there's also remitting bank charges to ADD on, variable rate on face amount. Then, if your receiving bank is ABC (not same Bkk Bank) -kena possible receiving bank charges, never mind few working inter banking delays.

Remittance shops in GM charge a flat rate (next 24 working day) whilst WU's charges are higher for immediate credit.

2) Cash (MC). What you see here in this thread. There's a cost to handling cash (vs banks SELLING TT rate abovementoned).

3) ATMs in THI. From your VISA or SG bank account. From VISA, kena prohibitive cash advance rate. From SG bank account, got bank charges (except for Citibank). But either way, exchange rate SUCKS. This is a money spinner or income stream for banks.

4th way, pass to a trusted friend

It is almost the same.... if u change a bit, dun have to look around the whole BKK for the best rates.

Assuming the rates different between the best and the average is 0.2.

If you change 1000SGD, the different is 200THB. Your effort, time and transportation to the particular location is more than 200THB. Unless you are somewhere near it, then change from there.

Just confirm that Kasikorn Bank (K Bank) locate in airport link level 3 quote a higher rate than the other banks
in the airport terminal. This going to cause some competition among the other banks at the airport. The same standard rates also apply with their other K bank branches nationwide.

The currency fell for a fourth week as global investors sold nearly 7.3 billion baht more worth of local stocks than they bought in the past five days, data from the Stock Exchange of Thailand showed.

The SET Index finished the week down 1.9% from the previous Friday, its third successive weekly decline.

"Investors are risk-averse and stock markets and Asian currencies can still test the weaker side,” said Nalin Chutchotitham, an analyst at Kasikornbank.

"Importers may be buying the dollar as well because month-end demand is usually high and also because they are worried that the dollar may rise further."

The baht was trading late Friday in Bangkok at 31.66/68 to the dollar,compared with 31.57/59 on Thursday and down 1.1% for the week, the most since the week of Dec 12-16.

The yield on the 3.25% government bond due in June 2017 rose five basis points to 3.56% this week, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

For Superrich, go to the main branch at Rajmari Rd. Google for the exact location. Other branches not as good rate especially the one at BTS station.

Another good one is Vasu, its very near to Nana BTS near Soi7/1. They have rates comparable to Superrich, sometimes just abit more sometimes a bit less. Its more convenient than superrich main branch.

Thai tycoon sends Sing dollar to 11-year high

SINGAPORE - Most emerging Asian currencies rose on Thursday, thanks to strong US corporate earnings and construction data, while the Singapore dollar hit a 11-year high against the baht on hopes that a Thai billionaire will launch a takeover bid for a Singapore company.

The Singapore dollar rose to 25.25068 against the Thai baht, the highest since 2001 September on expectations of demand for the city-state's currency linked to a $3.8 billion sale of Singapore Fraser and Neave (F&N) stake to Thai Beverage plc.

The Thai company, controlled by tycoon Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi, said in a statement that it has agreed to buy a 22 per cent stake in conglomerate F&N from Oversea-Chinese Banking Group, its insurance unit and the Lee family, which is the banking group's biggest shareholder.

The deal limited the baht's gain against the US dollar, although some foreign banks bought the local unit amid bond inflows to the country, dealers said.

The baht also faced technical resistance at 31.615 per dollar, the 50.0 per cent Fibonacci retracement of its weakening during earlier this month.

The Thai unit is unlikely to break through the resistance soon with domestic importers' dollar demand around 31.600, dealers said.

No, Arcade is smack in financial centre. Many MCs, suggest you go to the bigger outlets (after comparing rate with rest) for your this amount.

To change any foreign currency, just make a trip down to The Arcade. They really give the best rates there for any currency, be it US dollar, HK dollar, Baht, etc.

To be frank, I was shocked too. Internet rate was only 25.34 this morning.

Even for Ringgit too. Internet rate was 2.500 and they are changing at 2.495.

I like that place partly because they displayed all the rates on the screen and due to competition, they have to give best rates. Hate those places where you have to ask for the rates and they always give a farked up rate so when you walked away, they will call you back and give you 0.005 more...knn! Those at Parkway are the ones I am talking abt.

Agree, it's 'open' and transparent .. Can just browse most of the shops (or stalls) and transact. Not just Parkway, many other places you gotta ask (as not displayed) kns. Or they display reverse rate, then have to calculate

Talking about foreigner fighting for girl, one incident, at monkey, this particular mixed breed farang who can speak fluent thai, disturb my friend's gik, so some commontion between the mixed breed farang and my friend. A fight nearly takes places, but we managed to stop in time. This farang claimed to be a 100% thai, and even when he surrounded by us, he still stay calm. After going out from monkey, we find out he is a farang instead of thai. My friends decided to go inside and whack him, but managed to calm him. Othewise I'll be ban from entering monkey again.
