There is a Singpost (I think newly open) at basement 1 of People's Park Centre (NOT People's Park Complex) which offer good rates. The money changer, which operate by Singpost, u have to press the bell den got staff come and serve u (doesn't matter if u check rate n dun change). Last fri, i checked rates for RMB (497 - wow) and baht was 256 (most money changer offer only 254). So far this 2 currencies is the best at this Singpost (Note: Does not apply to all currency cos ringgit and USD is lousier than other place)

Actually no. The markets have interpreted the coup as an attempt to control the crap. Now whether the authorities are able to maintain that control is another question. Not a certainty which way it will go, but the article reasonably accurate based on previous experiences. Remember that the downward value of the baht over the last year already has a significant amount of 'crap' already baked in.

SGD surged earlier this week, breaking 24 barrier due to MAS status quo and also greenback's moving south (temporarily?).

Last week hovering 23.82 most places Sg. So 25 is a pipe dream for now

Imho, best to change in Sg (especially Arcade well documented here). Not only because Sg's a financial centre but you need the 'seed' money for your whoring. Granted Superich Bkk will give you marginally better rate -with 1000 note (I not seen or used this:o).

If you are in BKK just go to the main Superrich office . It's opposite Central World, next to the Big C. I usually bring a few 1,000 notes. I don't use it all & keep the rest for future trips.

Why I mentioned THB heading South? Simply, I feel militants are not geared to run a country, so text book theories are/were applied.

No, nothing to do with Kra canal news resurfacing for umpteenth time (from 1930s):p.This was a nonsensical private sector lobby thing (vested interests) with both country official denials.

More has to do with other market forces, like capital inflows, adjusting to central bank rate drop etc (haven't kept my finger on it last days).

As for nest week's upturn, if only we had a crystal ball we would be very rich people:D
