Well, in Patong to get girls for ST or overnight, there are a few options, but they all center around Soi Bangla.

They can walk into any bar, and there are freelancers sitting around, and a deal can be struck for whatever services and duration. Alternatively, there are streetwalkers standing along the main Soi Bangla soliciting for business.

Another place to go are clubs like Hollywood, Seduction, etc, where there will be freelancers that you can chat up and also strike a deal.

The most surefire way is to go to Soi Seadragon where all the best a-go-go bars are, like Diablo, Suzy Wong, Exotica, Candyland etc are, walk in, have a drink or two, pick the a-go-go girl you want and barfine her(between THB600-1000). Some barfines include ST(THB2600), and you can pay more if you wanna extend the services.

Almost immediately after the fire, a new, bigger, better Tiger(3 floors) was set up diagonally opposite the old one. You can't miss it when walking down Soi Bangla.

The ground level is a pool bar and a gathering of open a-go-go bars(read:barfines), 2nd and 3rd floor pool tables and disco(mostly FL). There is a cover-charge to get into the club, I think THB200 with 1 drink.

Actually I don't know, maybe try Hollywood? Banana? The less sleazy clubs in Patong. Or maybe they go up to Bangtao/Surin at Catch Beach Club, Bliss or Xana(but from my experience mostly angmohs).

Regarding SIM cards, when I arrived, there was a True counter selling SIM cards in the baggage collection area. They had micro & nano sizes, all 100bhat. However, True data is not 3G, its EDGE. And they limit how much data you can use for free a day. You want more data, its ~130bhat for 200MB, or ~300 for 1.25GB.

As for the rest of the telcos, I didn't see their counters anywhere in the baggage collection or arrival areas...

True have to use hotspots. I prefer Thai AIS which can be used countrywide.
Those in town the counter is now located in Robinsons. Bought Ais 3G card include number for 480 baht. Have 1gb and last for a month.

For Coyote bars(like Duzz, Barzaah, etc), my favourite is Glamour, which is situated at the open air carpark beside the Metropole Hotel. It is directly behind T2(local disco) if you know where that is. Private, girls are hot, fun, and drinks are cheap(for members, ladies drinks THB 250 for models, THB 150 for coyotes). The cheapest membership is THB 7000 for 3 bottles of Chivas, unlimited mixers/ice, use of VIP room for 1 night.

I second that! Went to Phuket twice for 1st trip and bachelor party. During that time, we hooked up waitresses from Sound club inside Jungceylon shopping mall. My first trip was waitress from Bangla road, forgot the pub name and we keep in touch using Hi5.com (before facebook, hi5 was popular among the thais) .

I wouldn't recommend following bar fine written on the menu. While i was there, i paid 400B for SYT who just started work about a week through verbally nego.

Timestamp: Friday 10pm 2009 (peak hours)
Age: 20
Popularity: Little, alone most of the time, sat with 1 customer

These three factors above gave me bargain power to negotiate with her about bar fine and LT. There was no mamasan/papasan during that time. I offered to pay her more if she provides good service LT thus cheaper bar fine quoted by her 600B initially. Agreed upon 3000B and extra 200 tip (on the pretext of paying her taxi) coz she accompanied me up till 9am plus if i could remember. That was 11 hours LT service with drinking clubbing, jokes laughter over supper, GFE, 2 moneyshots, breakfast companion and few thai language words taught by her.

IMHO, in my VERY HUMBLE opinion, I think that most guys coming over to Phuket is missing the whole point about going there/thinking that this is just a pure sex destination.

To me, Phuket is much more than that and the mongering scene is only a tiny fraction of the whole gamut of attractions/delights there. Patong is great, yes, but it is actually the worst area of Phuket as far as it being dirty, gaudy and rather unsafe.

I prefer to only make the occasional visit to Patong whilst in Phuket - mainly to "re-stock" my supply of companionship, but then spend more time enjoying the many more delights of this wonderful island; swimming, snorkeling, golfing, dining and even shopping at the various malls, shops and of course at "SuperCheap!" Limiting my visits to Patong gives me more time to do other enjoyable pursuits with my companion for the visit cause if all I wanted to do is bonk, there are a lot of other places which is way cheaper, with better quality/quantity and easier/more convenient to get to.

Like I said, just my very humble opinion which I thought worthwhile to express, to give bros here some food for thought. Please just ignore if you don't agree/subscribe to. THANKS!

hi guys,
was in patong for a quick swing last month. noticed that the Russian bars have gone rather quiet. the real deal is in the side lanes off bangla. saw a couple of Russians of dubious age playing snooker in one of the less well patronised bars. wouldn't recommend to try unless you're looking at time in the Bangkok Hilton. saw one dancer in the tiger that looked like she would have been worth the $$. young and pretty.
as it was off season surprisingly the prices were very reasonable. had dinner at the wine connections near banana disco and the bill was very reasonable.
banana was not packed but lots of Russians again and some locals.
in town was in timberhut on a Saturday night, was packed to the brim. lots of Korean girls in groups, didn't see them go off with any of the farangs or locals around the bar.
there is a bar in the princess of songkla universcity that is worth a try if a local went with you. it's cheap and lots of students chilling out there nightly!

For China passports I think can do visa on arrival but best is to apply visa in advance before you set off.

Also what if immigration does not want to let the China passport holder to exit without a visa? Think about it.

Actually I had done some research on this as I had brought a PRC friend with me to Thailand. It is of course true that visa on arrival is available for PRC nationals in Thailand but the problem is with the PRC immigration who will only allow their nationals to exit if they are part of an organized tour group; solo travelers will NOT be allowed to exit to go directly to Thailand unless they already have a visa to Thailand.

This being so, just ask your PRC friend to go to any travel agents to apply for a visa for her - extra Rmb 200 or so and only takes a few days - but well worth it as having to travel to go to the Thai consulate in the major cities just to do so is something that's really not worth doing.

There is another way, which is taking quite a bit of a chance which is to exit to Hong Kong or Macau using a two way permit, then leave directly to Thailand using a passport - but the Hong Kong/Macau immigration MAY give problems - especially if your ticket back from Thailand is to Hong Kong/Macau as then they cannot enter using the passport (no right of entry/visa) and also not the two way permit which can only be used at mainland exits.

Just get a visa prior and save yourself a lot of problems.

Sign says metered taxi. But in reality (high season), you'll be 'quoted' a rate and take it from there. You had range -so you know. Find out, and live to tell us. For goodness sake, you are on vacation -neither will you be ripped off from public taxi stand. And benchmark from what your hotel has to offer on transfers.:cool:

Just a reminder as its getting closer!

High season in Phuket centers around the Christmas holidays and only tapers off towards the end of the Chinese New Year holidays; this high season coincides nicely with the drier weather - but unfortunately, also higher prices for everything; including and especially accommodations which can be as much as triple the rates for the low season - overcrowding at many attractions AND very sharp practices/hi-pressure tactics etc and even criminality etc.

Please keep this in mind when trying to gather information on Phuket for a sojourn there during the high season - prices, recommendations and general information gotten should be calibrated to take into account this approximate two months period my friends and I jokingly, but quite correctly, term as being Phuket's Winter madness!

And still wishing you all a great time there!

The Mafia-like taxi/Tuk-Tuk services in Phuket has long been a blight on it's great reputation as a tourist and sex destination. This and the criminality of the jet ski operators have been THE regular topic of discussions at the monthly meeting of foreign countries' consul generals, as problems with these two items regularly befall their visiting nationals.

This being so, I routinely recommend to visitors to Phuket to arrange for their own self drive car rental, which can be as low as thb 1,000 per day all inclusive during the low season for a nice smaller air conditioned car like a Honda jazz; cheaper jeeps and even motorcycles for those of you more adventurous and willing to negotiate a two-wheeler amongst the crazy drivers of Phuket are also available. You should arrange for pick up/return of your vehicle at the airport (several good car rental companies at the airport).

This negates the need to take the overpriced/rip-off transportation offered by the con artist sharks preying on tourists at the airport - which invariably also necessitates the very unwelcome, practically forced detour/stop to go shopping at some over-priced joint or even having to attend some high pressure time-share sales pitches; a truly appalling and irritating welcome to this true island paradise.

And of course, do also try to stay away from the temptations and joys of getting on a Jet Ski in Phuket!!
Yeah, seems like a nice, exciting thing to do whilst there - but when you try to give back the jet ski to the operator, don't be surprised when the guy then claims that you've incurred some scratches or cracks on his "Pristine" craft; followed by some quite menacing moves unless you pay up!

AoT to raise airport departure tax

The Airports of Thailand board of directors has agreed on the need to raise the airport departure tax for both domestic and international passengers by 100 baht, AoT Chairman Sita Divari said on Thursday.

The departure tax for domestic flights would rise from 100 baht to 200 baht, and from 700 baht to 800 baht for international flights, Mr Sita said.

The increase still needs final approval from aviation and transport authorities.

The new fees would apply at all airports operated by AoT when approved.

The latest attack on tourists' wallets comes on top of the government's move to charge foreigners a new arrival tax at airports and land border crossings.

On Sunday, Public Health Minister Pradit Sintavanarong said the government is considering a plan to charge foreigners a 500-baht entry fee from January next year. He claimed the extra charge would lead to an improvement in the quality of tourists entering Thailand.

It would also offset the costs of state hospitals treating tourists who have accidents or fall ill and have no insurance cover.

Foreigners who arrive at airports would be charged 500 baht while those who enter the country by land would be charged 30 baht a day.

The foreigner-entry charge has been widely criticised on web forums, by tour operators and people working in the hospitality industry.

Malaysian tourists are the latest group to complain.

Withaya Lim, a tour operator in Hat Yai, said many tour agencies and tourists from Malaysia had contacted him to complain after they learned of the entry charge plan.

"This will increase costs for tour agencies bringing people to Thailand and they will have to pass the cost on to their customers," Mr Withaya said.

"I'm afraid this will result in a drop in the number of foreign tourist arrivals, particularly from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Brunei."

According to the AoT, passenger traffic through Thailand's six main airports showed robust growth in the fiscal year to last month, climbing 20.4% from the previous year to 86.13 million travellers, both domestic and international.

The number of flights through these airports increased by 16.5% to 559,397 during the same period.

Suvarnabhumi, the country's gateway airport, continued to dominate traffic volume with 50.90 million passengers and 287,997 flights, accounting for 59% of overall passenger numbers and 51.5% of all take-offs and landings.

It was followed by Bangkok's second airport Don Mueang, which largely serves discount airlines, with 15.56 million passengers and 135,976 flights.

Phuket airport recorded 10.98 million passengers with 70,198 flights.

Chiang Mai had 5.17 million passengers and 41,295 flights, while Hat Yai had 2.47 million passengers and 17,056 flights, and Chiang Rai 1.05 million passengers and 6,882 flights.

Suvarnabhumi is served by 107 international airlines. The airport connects Bangkok with more than 150 cities around the world.

The top five nationalities of tourists arriving through Suvarnabhumi are Chinese, Japanese, Indian, South Korean and Russian.

PHUKET: After landing at Phuket Airport on October 7, I passed all the scam businesses and made my way to the metered taxi stand.

I’ve used it for years and know that despite the word “metered” in the name, the price is fixed, about 550 baht to Patong.

But with the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) visits, it’s a new era. I asked the price to Patong. I was answered, “We only go by meter.” So far so good.

I told the staff that I wanted to go via Surin instead of over the dangerous mountain road in Kathu. They told me that it would be more expensive to go that way. I said fine.

Then I paid 100 baht surcharge and got a stamped receipt. This surcharge has been levied for years – legally or not, I don’t know.

Inside the taxi, the meter was on 50 baht. I asked why. No answer. 150 baht just to leave the airport.

No problem, I could afford it.

I told the driver the name of my hotel. He’d never heard of it. I said, “I can show you the way,” but he preferred to stop at his office near the airport to ask directions.

A woman came out to ask the hotel name. I said, “I will show him, just get me to Patong.” Pointing to the running meter, I said, “Let’s leave.” Then the boss came and asked about the hotel. I said, “The meter is running, let’s go now!”

“You are a crazy man,” was the only thing he said, several times. We took off. Before long, I told the driver that we had overshot the junction to Surin by several kilometers.

“Where are you going?” I asked him.

“I go Kathu way,” he answered.

“No, no, we agreed on the Surin way,” I said.

“No, we go Kathu,” he answered with a dangerous look.

I asked him to call his boss and they argued for a long time before he made a u-turn.

He was very angry by this time and I realized the threat. Thinking of all the stabbed taxi customers in Thailand, I tried to stay calm.

When we arrived, I jumped out of the taxi and asked for a receipt. He just shook his head, “No have.”

The trip was 635 baht on the meter. I took a photo and gave him a 65-baht tip to ensure that I could walk out of my hotel later that day without getting beaten up.

Metered taxis seem like a good idea, if they drive the shortest way and don’t mess it all up with wrong directions and stopping at their office and so on.

Not giving a receipt sounds like a tax scam. How many trips do the owners actually report? Does anyone dare to ask?

IMHO - always best to rent a car from the airport.

Only thb 1k per day or even less and save you all the hassles and frustration of having to deal with the taxi mafia in Phuket - from and to the airport as well as during your holidays. Even if it ends up costing a bit more, it's well worth it just to avoid these bandits during a time when I don't want stress.

On top of that, with your own transport you will be able to discover just how wonderful and nice PHUKET really is; patong is actually only the armpit of the pearl of the andamnan.

I wouldn't go as far as boycotting Phuket!!

To its credit, it IS a beautiful island with many and varied things to do; and that's the key to enjoying Phuket. If one goes to Phuket just to screw/monger, then yes, one is going to be sorely disappointed for really, things are more expensive vs Bangkok, pattaya etc and the quality is probably a small notch below.

But if one goes to Phuket to have a real holiday with all the trimmings, then few other places can match. I'm talking about golfing, sightseeing (best with your belle for the day), good dining, rafting, island hopping, shopping, elephant treks, shows (fantasea, the katoey shows, etc) or even just laying around the beach. And forcrissakes, I certainly am not talking about patong beach. And thus my oft repeated suggestion to always hire your own hire car whilst in Phuket.

Phuket is aGREAT place for a complete holiday INCLUDING some nights spent at Patong; but just SOME!!! Lol

Yes indeed, Phuket IS expensive and IMHO it's a function of how popular the Pearl of Andaman really is as a total tourist destination. Very unfortunate, but that I guess just cannot be helped.

One thing though, Phuket is especially expensive during the high seaso, which coincides with the dry season starting from around now to the end of the Chinese New Year holidays. The rest of the year, prices - especially for accommodation, drops down drastically. Hotels routinely double or even triple their high season rates compared to the rest of the year.

And things aren't as hectic during the lower season - and it's really not all that wet - you just gotta get lucky! Lol

And compared to where most of us come from, Phuket remains a bargain any season! And for just about everything!!

I wouldn't worry too much in Phuket or in the rest of Thailand actually.

Just go to the bar area, which in Phuket is Patong, although there are bars all over the place and the girls will waylay you!!

It's their job to get guys into their bar and they'll practically drag you inside!

As far as rates, first thing first, you better be aware that the bars will levy you a "bar fine" which goes to the bar owner (but which the girl will take a bit of a cut), and the actual "cost of the bonk" is to be negotiated on top of that. Both items are quite variable one place to another, One hour vs a later hour, one girl to another and especially one customer to another - they Loooove to fleece the shy newbies!!

So do negotiate and do NOT give any hints that you're really out of your depth and especially do NOT be too eager and you should be OK. And decent bar fines should run you around the THB 500-1K and overnight fees on top should be circa 1,000 - 2,000. All depends on your bargaining power.

So do negotiate and do NOT give any hints that you're really out of your depth and especially do NOT be too eager and you should be OK. And decent bar fines should run you around the THB 500-1K and overnight fees on top should be circa 1,000 - 2,000. All depends on your bargaining power.

Went there from 3 dec 13 to 7 dec 13 as a total fuck trip but it was quite a disappointment as the price of the gal have increase quite alot compare to my last trip at August.

First day reach phuket at 2200 hrs, rent a car and manage to reach bangla street at around 0100. High season, you'll be hard pressed for sub-2k. If ST, can try beer bars as opposed to aggs.

If lodgings are not girl friendly, cut your losses (unless prepaid) and move on. Taxi rides expensive in town, can add up ...so best to stay near Patong and Soi Bangla stretch.

Even i club u hardly get any chick for 2k if u want to get a LT, most LT in club start from 2.5k to 3k. LT from bar ( waitress and pole dancer) cost 3k and bar fine 1k. Due to high season, is very hard to negotiate with them on the price as there still many other taker around.

Just came back from Phuket from a 4 days trip. Read in this forum where taxi range is about 600 - 700 baht however i bought the ticket from the booth which cost 800 baht. Not sure it's consider expensive or not as the booths are anywhere once u out from the departure gate and i arrived late due the delay of my flight which is almost midnight.

The taxi stop by their office halfway (not sure whether every taxi do that also or what) where the office lady came out and greet us and promote their day tour package. Politely reject all their tour package and end up taking their taxi services from hotel to airport for our last day. Cost of taxi 1K baht which considered fine for us since the guy had to pick us up early in the morning at 5:30am and now is the high season in Phuket.

1st night: Reach hotel around midnight. Visit Suzy Wong after we grabbed something to eat. Plenty of people and the girls are very pretty. ST = 3000 & LT = 5000, bar fine not included. Same goes to Suzy Wong II. I find it out of my budget & didn’t go for it. So we bar-hopped around and end up at some open bar beside the street. Managed to find myself a freelancer and she agreed 2K baht for LT. My friend also settled for 1 freelance but the price was 3K for LT. My girl was friendly type with not bad looking. The overall sex was good. Had 2 sessions with her and ask her to go back since she had a daytime work tomorrow & I’m quite tired and prefer to sleep alone.

Just came back from Phuket on 13/01/2014. No protest at all so need not worry.

Day 1
First night spend time watching soccer at Tiger..
Waitress offered to follow me back at 2k.. But I was too tried and wanted to sleep alone so I told her I will come back for her the next day.. too bad she wasn't around the next day. We went to Taipai (along the main street towards the shopping mall) as the music seems happening.. The waitress is willing to settle at 2k too which my friend took it.. so I guess the rate is around there. reached hotel at 5am she left at around 10am

Day 2
Went to tiger to watch soccer again. The girls standard wasn't really good since the front few pubs were all occupied so we end up settling at one of the pub at the back near to the toilet. Leave once the soccer ended and we went to the pub right beside Tiger (cant recall the name of the place, is one the right hand side if you are facing tiger, just beside Russia bar) another friend took a pole dancer at settle at 1.5k (the girl seems to like him a lot) reached hotel around 4am she left at around 10am.

Day 3
Went to Christin Massage (pink building) to check it out.
Went in and it was like our fish tank.. check out the rate and the manager told me 3k until midnight. I thought it was a ST place but it seems like a escort type one. Flying off at 8pm so didn't try out. End up going into one of the road side message opposite the shopping mall near Bangla road. Massage was no bad. After an hour of massage, she offer HJ and BJ. initial price for HJ was 1k.. Managed to bargain to 600b for BJ. Able to take top off and autorom top.

This is my first trip to Phuket.. personally, I did not find the girls there 'WOW'.. Wanted to try the Russian bar but I heard is very expensive and you can end up paying thousands and not able to touch them. Any bros tried Russian bar?

New Phuket airport Terminal X opens Feb 5, 2014

Phuket International Airport's new Terminal X is complete and will open to passengers on Feb 5, according to Phuket governor Maitree Inthusut.

He said the new building was necessary to serve rising passenger numbers and reduce congestion at the existing terminal.

The airport currently serves 192 flights a week, up from 170 flights in the summer of 2012.

It hosts 34 airlines with regular flight schedules and another six airlines for chartered flights.

The new terminal building was built at a cost of more than 100 million baht.

Passengers will be able to check-in at the terminal. A bus service will transfer passengers in between the two terminals.

Terminal X will have the capacity to serve up to five million passengers a year or around 4,000 passengers per hour.

Mr Maitree said the new terminal will officially open to customers on Feb 5,2014 but the building will be open for other purposes from Feb 1, 2014.

Phuket International Airport is meanwhile in the process of building five additional aircraft decks.

Once construction is complete the airport will be able to accept 20 aircraft arrivals and departures at the same time.

The airport is expected to serve around 10.5 million passengers in 2013.

Hi bros, was in hkt for a week. Seems like less tourists around. Found some new places to go and get girls. If you're staying in patong you will need a tuk tuk or taxi.
There are some new clubs which they call Bimi club up in surin beach. It's a kinda social club where you can meet lots of tourist and locals.
You can google catch beach club or Bimi club. It's is bit like club med and lots of Thai and faring girls go there. Easy to hook up with the foreign girls there.
Went to one of the russian clubs I think moulin rouge and got ripped off there. Lt is 5000 baht for rusky. I didn't try.

I'm I'm Phuket town till next Wednesday . I've been several places and some have closed down. Indigo n nanang. Dutz the cayote club still going strong. Kotomor is hot and so is the new open air place next to it lots of young syt but with cash. Dun speak Thai or middle age forget it.
Lots of drinking holes in Thaiang area but with lots of farangs too.
Went to phon pon lots of new fuck joints there, must say the quality is not bad as of last year. This is probably due to influx of chinese tours.
The place that turned me back on is Bazarh. The pole girls were like the old fantasia days. Don't waste your money on them cannot book out. What caught my eye were 2stunning girls sitting at the bar. Generally in town it's a tad more expensive than patong. Go to phon pon the usual price for short time 2500 tbht, plus pay for the hotel room. Clubs 3000thbt for st or up to 5g for overnight depending on the girl. Most of the girls in Bazarh you got to play along like the old cafe style. Go out, shopping etc, they like a little less work and a sugar daddy.
This one I got was a stunner, a chiang mai girl from bkk. A real syt and 19 yrs old. I didn't want to take her to kotomor in case the kids there might make a pass at her and create a headache for me. Got watts apps pm your no to me and I can send you a pic.

It's off season. You will get lots of rain and do not enter the water when the red flag is up. Many people get into difficulties and drown in seemingly shallow water.

Phuket is not really a prime destination for Civvie action, but there IS some hope!!

As you already mentioned, Patong IS the center of Pay-to-play action there, but invariably, there would also be the curious gawking tourists who - with a bit of liquor in them and in such a heady sex-charged atmosphere – somehow become less inhibited and probably more open to approaches. Another place to hunt for tourists in Patong is the Jungceylon Shopping mall there – lots of cafes, open air seating areas, restaurants etc. where pick-ups are quite natural.

If you like Local Civvie pick-up, then the place to go is Phuket Town – lots of pubs, clubs, bistro etc where the locals go to – Timber Hut, T2 Live etc etc are where the supposed Phuket Hi-So hangs around at. But do be careful as lots of the girls are with their “own Crowd” and Thai young guys can be quite hot-headed….and are quite brash especially when in a gang!!

Otherwise, there are a lot of 5 star resorts in Phuket with their own little lounges where some of the tourists have their cocktails etc. The Laguna area has half a dozen of these nice hotels and of course there ARE Luxe resorts all over Phuket.

The main area for the expatriate community to hang at is around the Surin/Bang Tao area – and there are a lot of nice bistros, bar/cafes etc there as well as all over the island. These expatriates are quite friendly.

Since there is nothing of a personal nature in the questions, I hope he doesn’t mind that I reply publicly below; hopefully it is of some use to others too.

1. Surin/Bang Tao beach is about 10 minutes by car to the Laguna area across Cherntalay village. Laguna used to be an old tin mine grounds that has been developed into basically a separate and distinct area of deluxe hotels, shopping centers, marinas, lagoons (the old dug out tin mines flooded), golf course, and luxury housing development. The whole area practically feels as if it is not actually in Phuket / feels more like Hawaii or the Australian Gold Coast etc - very clean, well laid out, orderly and unfortunately, also a lot more costly. Also, there is NO part of Laguna where lower class local residents/villagers live at.
Surin Beach is next to Cherntalay village and is typical of Phuket – more rustic, disorderly traffic, tiny/dirt roads, locals, shops and restaurants haphazard all over the place and….. charming! It is also the area where a lot of expatriates seem to live and congregate at.

2. I really would NOT recommend any hotels in Phuket town itself as these are usually chock-a-block with PRC and other cheaper tour groups. On top of that, IMHO there really is NOT any nice hotels in Phuket town itself.

3. Good clubs/good music – all depends on your definition of what is good! Lots of night entertainment all over Phuket and I’m very sure you’ll be able to figure out which ones you’d like to go to; as soon as you arrive at Phuket airport, gather up all the Tourist brochures which will give you more than enough information to allow you to do so!

4. This is my strongest recommendation to you – YES, do hire a car for the whole time you are in Phuket; in fact, you should pre-arrange for a car-rental company to meet you upon your arrival at the airport there. They will be right outside the arrival area with your name on a placard, take you to their office to sign the rental contract (or even just do it kerbside if you arrive too late at night and the office is already closed) and you’re on your way.

I usually get a fully air-conditioned, automatic Honda Jazz (or similar) for around THB 1,000/day all in and use it until the time I drive it back to the airport to go home. This allows me to never have to patronize any of the way over-priced/rip-off taxi/Tuk-Tuk mafia and ends up costing me not only less money, but more importantly, less hassles, arguments etc with these dangerous crooks. Phuket is an island and except for inner Phuket town, it’s very easy to drive around yourself. Having a car at your disposal, you will be able to truly enjoy all that Phuket has to offer, and of course you can now just check in and stay in one hotel the whole time there; just jump in your car anytime and go wherever you want to go.

These taxis will rip you off each and every time you take them - even from when you arrive at the airport, they will insist on not only over-charging you, but will also way-lay you on forced/unwelcome shopping stops and time-share sales pitches etc

The roads in Phuket to and in Phuket Town are not easy to navigate and you'll probably need a GPS(or google maps on you phone) to help you get around if you do decide to rent your own car and drive if you aren't familiar with the roads.

If you're looking for local clubs,(Phuket Town) there's Sofa, Kor Tor Mor, T2, to name a few. You can actually bring your own bottles(duty free or from 7-11) into these clubs without paying a corkage, but you'll have to pay for ice and mixers and probably the cover charge to get in. Bottles from these places are pretty cheap as well. Places like these usually are a mix of dance music and a live band, a combination which the locals seem to like very much.

Expat-mostly clubs will be in the Surin/Bangtao area, like Bliss, Catch, the newly opened Nikki Beach Club, and the Laguna area has Xana(in partnership with Singapore's own Attica). You'll find mostly tourists here, and the thai version of the SPGs

In the Patong area, there is Famous, on the rooftop of Jungceylon, Seduction, and of course Hollywood along Bangla, and Banana along the beach road. The first two are mostly tourist joints(Famous is a russian club) with the occasional working girl, but I'd say the most unpretentious place is Hollywood where people actually have a lot of fun. However unless the girls you meet inside are undoubtedly tourists, almost all the Thai girls you will pick-up there are freelance working girls.

Just read the Phuket gazette.
New curfew hours from midnight till 4am. I bet the clubs in town will close the doors and party till 4am then go home. It's not uncommon for them to party till six in the morning at the beer gardens like James garden in phon pon.

Just some info on true SIM cards for visitors. I got one for my local hp at the shop in town and topped it up with100 baht. To my surprise the calls are a baht a min and if you check the msges you send to local nos, the msg are sent via + 66 and not the Thai local number. I reckon that's going via international call. My card ran out in 1 day. Usually I use Ais esp for wifii. The packages are worth your $. :eek:

The nightlife in Patong is normal as usual, not much tourist, most of it is farang... disco are almost empty, A gogo with bikini on as alot of police patrolling along blanga rd...

ONLY one or 2 girl take off bra and dance for A quite one and bikini on back... Can see a lot of students in A gogo, less ppl and easy hook on a syt... Im with a girl friend of mine, hence no action for me this trip... WHAT A WASTE!!!:rolleyes:

Town girls definitely to our taste. Call girls now standard much better than I had expected. Undoubtedly if you speak fluent Thai and can throw some cash around possibities are limitless.
I prefer Phuket to bkk basically they are concentrated in such a small town. Go to max three clubs sure to hit the right one.
