Upon arrival at reception, fill in a short survey form informing of a 90mins talk.
A personnel will escort you into a briefing room which secured and accessible by finger scan only. The room is filled with other selected gift recipients. Once settled down, personnel will start to chat about travel habits. A manager come and go a couple of times.

Basically, It’s a VIP membership consisting of

Its followed by thick catalogs of various hotels included, travel photos and a short demo at Welcome to DISCOVERY VIII to do hotel/airline booking.

In between all this, did another short survey and obtain a free Air Revitaliser System voucher.

Kept asking for the membership cost along the way but was told that will be revealed at the end of the presentation. The presentation reached closer to 120min. Personnel then asked for feedback on the scheme/program and what price is considered within budget so the manager can help to work out the payment. The manager finally came and gave another presentation which includes selling and "renting out" the membership.

Politely declined and manager wasn't pushy. Personnel became less chatty on the way out.

You can't deny that there are those time share that are useless, but you also cannot deny that there are also a few good ones that operates for many years. So your thread is UNFAIR.

For many of us, it is to blame ourselves because due to our limited leave, most slots will be taken out by others especially during school holidays. By painting of rosy pictures by these trained Sales personnel, we bought their ideas. So when we realised that we cannot utilised these perks due to poor planning or lack of slots, we think we kana "conned" by these company, but we failed to believed that we bought something that does not suit us at all simply we cannot take such long leave.

There are a few people whom I know pre planned their holidays at least 6 months ahead using Time shares. They enjoyed long holidays and most of these people are self employed.

I believed that people that will benefit from it are self employed people.

Bottomline is they are bordering being conmen and women.. imagine their gift certificates for those who attend their talks are nothing but hoax. so what if their product is genuinely good? does it warrant cheating ppl's time with useless gifts?

Now,there's another company by the name of Zealz development international located at Amoy Street thats goes around calling existing time share member saying they can buy back the time share but gotta pay up another 15K register fee or something like that...

Any bros or sis got encounters? Pls feel free to share, so we know whether it's another scam? Are they from the same co. ?

Something like 8-9 years ago, I got into something like that, did a simple survey, won a super duper prize, hire a lorry and go up some alley to collect your prize. Its along Orchard Road, and apparently many people were falling for it (the office was damn pack).

I was brought into a mass interview room like those mass dating event, and sat down with a sales person who was chewing his gum and looking at me popping irrelevant silly questions once every couple of minutes. I was supposed to spend 45 minutes with this guy in order to collect my prize. He said, 'relax! 45 minutes very fast one, just sit here and wait. Want a gum?'

Later on, a really cool-looking manager (who was chewing gums too) came sat down and talked about his trip to pick strawberries in an aussie farm last week. A trip just to pick strawberries, admirable.

Well, it really din occur to me how he got time to for frequent holidays , but me being gullible and green like a terrified seaweed, believed everything he said. He added a few perks into the deal if I sign up there and then, and closed in for the kill. The only thing on my mind was, cheap hotel rooms in famous places in the world. In the end, spent 10k to buy a timeshare package (something to do with hotel rates at 99 bucks for 7 days). Paid in full some more.

When I signed on some form of contract and gave the manager my card, a loud noise came out and filled the entire office. Its like they've stolen that bell from long john silver and struck it with a hammer. A female voice rang out and announced 'Welcome Mr. <name> as a new member into our timeshare club!' or something to that effect. Everyone clapped and look at me holding on to my pen on the contract. I was telling myself, man this is NOT going to be the proudest moment of my life. Another thing that occured to me was, I din hear a single ring on that damn bell throughout my 2-hour stay.

Later on in life, I realised they have used almost every possible means of sales tactics on me on that day within 2 hours. Yes they also fed on my greed and pride (note: i was green). I guess the only way to do that is to get the best sales people in town, and that means high commission, high cost on the company, which probably means that I had just paid a lot to someone to tell me about how he picked strawberries, and worse still how he ENJOYED it. Damn...

By the way, I went abroad shortly after and never came to have another look at that timeshare package, until now sometimes it still cause a little pain when I see a bottle of chivas 'only' cost 300plus. However, I believe the concept of time sharing is an excellent way to get a place to stay on a free-n-easy holiday. Maybe the way it is being marketed is less than honourable, even more serious these days with more competition. But look at it this way, time sharing is almost always marketed in this manner in many many big cities in the world. The only way to successfully sell it to so many people of different cultures points to the fact that they are targeting basic human traits, and that is, in my opinion only, the work of a genius.

Just be careful and give yourself time to 'cool-it-off' before making a decision if you are planning to get such timesharing plans.

PS: if you're the wavy haired malay manager, pls PM me. You've got to tell me about that strawberry story again.

By openly labeling it as offtopic to me, is a signal of respect that I intentionally to go off-topic to create an awareness of an issue I believe is of importance to all of us and not a blatant disregard to the forum.

I accept and I concede. but not without setting the issue right,- i.e. there was no intentional blatant disregard to the forum's rules, but an intentional intend to seek to inform and educated an otherwise non-sexual topic.
