Bangkok: Afternoon Activities

I'm at a loss; anyone has any clue what to do or where to go in the afternoons? I'm talking about early afternoon, say, noon until about 5pm.

Too early to go anywhere, really. Massage places will be mostly empty, etc.

Anywhere other locals hang out at? I'm thinking along the lines of spa, etc., but a nice quiet place to read the newspapers or whatever will do as well, I guess.

Nowadays, I find myself with nothing to do in the afternoons. I'm driving around town aimlessly with nothing to do.

This is what I do in the afternoons:

#1 Hang out at Beer Garden at Soi 5, armed with my notebook computer, have lunch and do some work there (wifi is free!) and maybe let some poo ying chat me up!

#2 Hang out at some air-con billard bar in Soi 11, quite a few if u bother to walk all way in, not a lot of people there, usually there are a few cute looking waitresses to have a game of 2 with you, if u good, can adjourn for dinner later and supper followed by even breakfast next morning ;-)

#3 make a booking for VIP massage at Health Land in Sathon Soi 12, this kills 2 hours, very relaxing.

Come on man, I can't believe that you're bored in Bangkok! Why don't you join California WOW, located in the Esplanade, its a walking distance from your house! Work out and scab at attractive young Thai girls in their skimpy outfit! You're not only building muscles but in the longrun you'll live healthier life in Bangkok. Or go to Rajadamri Spa near Pratunam. I never been there but I will be going there next month. Do me a favor, find out exactly how to go to Rajadamri Spa and I'll teach you how to workout at California WOW. Go to VIP or Subway Massage for 2 hours of traditional massage and you might meet a nice working girl for a girlfriend!

Good heavens !. In busy BKK and do not know what to do !.Go to the gym as bro Norice suggested or go to a temple ( countless, in Bangkok ). Go a less trodden one or the inside sanctuary of a well known temple. And meditate peacefully.........can do wonders for body and mind.

Watch a movie lor very cheap......go pray 4 face buddha......go traditional massage.....go for a swim make full use of hotel facilities

Some of the massage places (soap + FJ) are open from 11 am onwards - been some time since I went to BKK, dun remember the name but it was on petchaburi road - about 3 -4 places close to each other.

Also some escort agencies - haven't tried them myself, a friend tried it but mixed results, also quite expensive.

Or if you're looking for not so naughty activities - check out some of the malls (I liked Pantip Plaza) or shopping areas (Chatuchak) - or just wander around town....

Deptri4u,

I need your help, I used to go to Manhattan Hotel at Sukhumvit Soi 12 for hot whirlpool, cold pool, dry and steam sauna but it's closed. Where is Health Land Sathon Soi 12? Please give me better direction or location. Also can you recommend other sauna places for straight men, not gay places or I have to cut your ding ding off!

the cinema at esplanade ratchada quite posh.. and always quite empty on weekday afternoons.. good place to idle away a few hours. problem is i dont even have enough time for shopping, massage, food n club..

even on a weekend sat night, the cinema can be quite empty too

i was also quite surprised when i watched a movie there for the first time on a fri afternoon.. it was virtually empty even for a blockbuster movie. guess thais not as into movies as us. bonus was i sneaked to the sofa seats at the back with blankets n cuddled up with my companion. kinda distracted myself from the movie, haha...

keke... tat wat I used to do when years back while stay at BKK.

beside that, also go for movies as what other bros mention.

did went for some early open MP which not within town area,
can't remember those place exactly as alway drive by frens.

sometime go for bowling alone or with some kakis
bowling at BKK also cheap.

alots of things can do at BKK around the clock.
depend what you are looking for.

Friends, if you're bored, go to Beergarden located on Sukhumvit Soi 7, cheap place to meet freelancers, foreigners and delicious food. Also, lots of great places to shoot pool. I like to cruise around various shopping malls and stake out some nonworking girls for future prospects.

This forum is very important to me because within 2 years, I will be taking early retirement in Bangkok! I hope, I don't get too bored during daytime! I need additional advice from BKK residents how they keep themselves busy during daytime. Most likely, if you live there permanently, you'll find a longterm girlfriend so you won't get too bored due to your girlfriend and her friends.
