This is what it looks like when a corporate spin-doctor refuses to swallow his own lie. Watch this Monsanto lobbyist’s reaction when offered an opportunity to … tell the truth.

Patrick Moore, a Canadian scientist and environmentalist and the former president of Greenpeace Canada, recently came into contact with a journalist from a premium French cable station. The journalist identified Moore as a Monsanto lobbyist and asked him to drink a glass of Roundup Herbicide, the world’s most popular and widely used weed-killer.


Interviewer, in parenthesis: (You want to drink some?, … we have some here)

“I’d be happy to, actually.” (ya?) “Not, not really, but” ( not really?) “I know it wouldn’t hurt me.”

( If you say so. …I have some glyphosate…) “No, no … I’m not STUPID.”

(oh… ok, so you…) “No…” ( …know it’s dangerous…right?)

[note: talking over each other] “No no.. but I know people have tried to commit suicide (no no no… let’s … let’s …) and fail regularly (…tell the truth) …”
“It’s not dangerous to humans…” (It’s not dangerous?…) “No.. it’s not”

(So you are ready to drink one glass of that?) “NO. I’m not an IDIOT…”

What is… Spin?
Political and Corporate spin happens when a speaker attempts to influence listeners to perceive a situation from a certain perspective. It belies truth. It’s is politically coached. And in the case of Patrick Moore, quick to roll off the tongue, but not true enough to back up with action.

What happened?
The interview was supposed to be about Golden Rice, … but the interviewer either had planned to switch topics at the end or decided to change topics once the original interview was completed.

There is something undeniably wrong with this person. To have this two-faced kind of spin pour out of his mouth is worthy an inordinately long liars nose!
