Thumbs up 10 worst jobs - in Canada

An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

We all have to work. Well, not all. Some are lucky and are talented in sports, music, and get paid to "enjoy" their pursuits. The rest of us trudge along and grumble on the way to work, at work, and look forward to the end of the day, hopefully to down some cold beers. If you've got work, all I can say is, don't complain, hang in there. The day will be sadder when you are laid-off. Well, if you still think your work sucks, here's a list of the 10 worst jobs. May not agree with your views, but nevertheless, here they are.

Cheers!

Ask enough people what they think is the worst job to have and you’ll likely find someone who believes it is their job.
For a job to receive the title of "worst", it goes beyond low wage. While many of these jobs are invaluable to a functioning society, factors such as stress, work environment and market demand were also considered by jobs rating website Careercast.com when they compiled their 2015 ranking.
Let’s see if your job made the list:

10. Mail Carrier
Paperless bills, emails and text messages have made the mail carriers' load especially light. While it ranks as the tenth worst job to have, it has a less-than-sunny growth outlook, according to a Service Canada job futures factsheet.
9. Firefighter
According to Payscale Canada, the median average salary of a firefighter is $59,000, and while the position can garner nearly six figures for veteran employees, it is considered one of the most stressful jobs around. And the work environment can get a little hot too.
8. Taxi Driver
Taxi drivers make the list for a number of reasons — regular patrons include intoxicated customers and those that are rude and sometimes violent. The hours are long and the pay is low. Plus, new disruptive services such as Uber are making the field more competitive, and with a median salary $25,000, it’s competition the drivers can ill afford.
7. Corrections Officer
A corrections officer comes in at the seventh worst job a person can hold down, and it really isn’t a surprise. The position offers average annual compensation between $40,000 to $75,000, which isn’t a lot of pay for a dangerous and highly stressful job.
6. Photojournalist
The field of journalism was represented on this list with a total of three roles. For photojournalists, trying to capture an image the world will remember may take your entire career. In the interim, the pay is often low and most of the time professional photographic work is contracted out. Full-time positions in this field are also rare.
5. Broadcaster
Broadcasters are just slightly behind their career cousins, the photojournalists. Positions in this field are highly coveted, the pay has decreased over the years and it is a highly stressful position to hold down.
4. Cook
Most people are familiar with the adage, “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.” Cooks work in hot, fast-paced environments with long hours on their feet. But unlike servers or bartenders, they don’t often see generous tips. It’s stressful, demanding and the pay is relatively low - sometimes just a scrape above minimum wage.
3. Enlisted Military Personnel
They serve and protect, but whether in combat or in an office, the salary ranges from $30,000 to $64,000 on average. It's not a lucrative field considering the dangers, stress and extended periods away from family that come with the job.
2. Lumberjack
Lumberjacks work in dangerous conditions, often in isolation, thus earning the number 2 spot on the list of the worst jobs of 2015. The profession is largely dependent on the needs of publishing and construction companies — two industries that have seen considerable declines in the last ten years due to technological advances.
1. Newspaper Reporter
Coming in as the worst job for 2015 is newspaper reporter. With its long hours, a median salary of $34,600 annually or less, stressful environment and decline in advertising revenue - on which the industry relies heavily - it is no wonder this position wins the worst job of the year.
