Four people died when a helicopter carrying a television crew crashed in Chongqing on Sunday, Xinhua reported.

The Bell 407 GX aircraft lost contact with ground control and crashed at about 1pm after taking off from Wanzhou district.

The helicopter’s pilot and co-pilot and two members of a camera crew from Chongqing TV died in the crash.

The helicopter belonged to Chongqing General Aviation.

The helicopter was being used to film footage for a popular programme called “A bird’s-eye view of Chongqing”, which began airing in 2012.

Rescuers found the remains of the victims and debris from the helicopter at around 6.30pm in Hucao village in Liangping county.

The cause of the crash was under investigation, the report said.
