Singaporeans are lucky

Unlike the elderly of other countries who waste away their time looking after their grandchildren, strolling in the park or playing a game of chess at the community club…the old in Singapore have far more important things to do like go to work. Yes, the PAP govt ensures that Singaporeans are motivated to work until a ripe old age because there is insufficient subsidy for their medical care and essentials. Also, when they were at their prime, they couldn’t have saved much for their old age because they have to spend the bulk of the income to service the HDB loans for their subsidised housing.

The Worker’s Party tried recently to poison Singaporean’s mind by suggesting that the elderly be given sufficient subsidy. How dare they damage the work ethnics of a 64 year old?!

Elderly Singaporeans are so lucky they have to stay productive and work for a living. They are lucky the govt gives little aid and sells public housing at a price that takes more than 20 years of monthly installments to pay up. They are lucky to have someone willing to hire them despite their arthritis, hearing aids and wheelchairs.

The PAP Government is a blessing to the elderly because CPF funds are protected with several layers of instituted regulatory mechanisms from the elderly themselves. Unlike elderly of other countries, your CPF are protected from you in the form of Minimum Sum, Retirement Account, CPF annuity and Medishield Life. Elderly Singaporeans are lucky they do not get to touch their CPF easily and ended up economically-unproductive wasting time like an unemployed in the name of retirement. Nothing can better enshrine the ethos of employment better than to have elderly Singaporeans think about money for tomorrow, and yet feel rich when they look at the yearly CPF statement of account.

We are lucky that the PAP Government has designed a meritocratic system where the next generation do not have to worry about others’ retirement except for their own. In fact, Meritocracy starts young in Singapore, and Singaporeans are ensured they do not get a single entitlement or privilege just because they hold the Singaporean citizenship unlike their foreigner counterpart. Singapore is also one of the most equal society, the PAP Government legislated that Singaporean males serve two years of National Service and yearly reservist training so foreigners and new citizens can start on equal footing. From cradle to grave, Singaporeans are indeed a fortunate lot and very lucky.

It will be scandalous to insult the PAP government and it is only right to send those who denounce their meticulous hard work by sending those ungrateful critics to a mental asylum. Be grateful, lucky Singaporeans.
