Thumbs up No news on Jason Neo case after more than 3 years

An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

In 2011, a Young People’s Action Party (YPAP) member, Jason Neo, had posted a religiously and racially offensive caption to a photo which he uploaded on his Facebook page.

The posting showed a photo he had taken of a school bus with Malay children from Huda Kindergarten, in Woodlands, dressed in their uniform which includes traditional Malay headwear.

Yesterday (30 Mar 2015), TRE managed to contact Mr Abdul and asked if he had been contacted by the police over the case, since then. Mr Abdul told TRE that since the last letter he received from the police in Jan 2012, he has heard nothing. That is, more than 3 years have past and nothing is heard on the outcome of the investigation on Jason Neo.

Mr Abdul added that had an opposition member been involved, he is sure that the police would have acted “quickly and efficiently”.
Meanwhile, Amos Yee, a 17-year-old Singaporean who had posted a YouTube video criticising the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew, was arrested on 29 Mar (‘17-year-old Amos Yee arrested‘). In the video, he also made insensitive remarks about Christianity.

The 8-minute video, which went viral, was called: “Lee Kuan Yew Is Finally Dead!”. It was posted on Friday (27 Mar) and had been viewed more than 680,000 times.

At least 20 police reports have been lodged against Amos Yee since he posted the video on YouTube.

It remained to be seen how the police will be treating Amos Yee case.
