Thumbs up Ass Loon CALLS ON ELECTIONS DEPARTMENT TO UPDATE CONSTITUENCY REGISTER OF VOTERS

PM LEE CALLS ON ELECTIONS DEPARTMENT TO UPDATE CONSTITUENCY REGISTER OF VOTERS

Post date:
2 Feb 2015 - 5:04pm

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has called for the register of electors to be updated by April 30.

This means the elections department must decide on the electoral boundaries and constituencies and ensure all voters are accounted for and on the correct register.

In order to qualify as an elector or voter, a person must be a Singapore citizen aged 21 years or above as of Feb 1st this year.

They must also not be disqualified as an elector.

The person also needs to ensure that their Singapore residential address is registered with the Immigrations and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) before Feb 1.

Anyone with the wrong address may be put into the wrong constituency and may not be put on the register of voters for the correct constituency.

The elections department is expected to make the new electors registry public later in February so that people can check their names and ensure their details are correct.
