Sembawang flat: Normal HDB unit by night, shady vice den by day
StompThursday, Jan 08, 2015

Obscene noises can be heard coming from a flat in Sembawang during the day, but it looks like any other regular unit when its doors are wide open at night.

According to Lianhe Wanbao, vice activities that are going on in the unit - located in a block along Canberra Road - have switched to operating in the day to appear less dubious.

Reporters said that the 'den' used to operate at night until unhappy neighbours complained. This prompted its operating hours to be moved to the afternoon, during lunchtime.

To avoid suspicion, the unit would have its door open every evening, making it seem as if a normal family lived in there.

When reporters first received a tip-off about vice activities going on in the unit, they observed the place from a distance in the afternoon.

Its windows were shut and the scene was exactly like what a reader had described.

Three men were seen approaching the unit during the four hours that reporters were there. Instead of knocking on the door to get in, they made a phone call.

Reporters noticed that each time a call ended, the wooden door of the unit would open immediately and the men would enter. They stayed in the flat for between 45 minutes to one hour.
