PEASANTPORE: In theory, the process of getting premium subsidies for the new MediScam Life scheme will be made as hassle-free and automatic as possible but peasants must always be able to pay the premiums or be shamed if they decide to ask for some help to pay the premiums.

That was the assurance given by Senior Minion of Regime for Expensive Health Amy Teh Khor on Sunday.

Those who still cannot afford to pay for premiums even with the subsidies will also get more financial help but they will be shamed and the Phua method of shaming them will be used.

Premiums hikes are assured to go up when MediShield Life kicks in next year.

The increase in premiums will also in most cases be covered by the 1 per cent increase in merchant's Medisave contribution, which kicks in next year. The merchants will simply pass the costs to peasants via price hikes and it be back to square one.

Dr Teh Khor was speaking to the media on the sidelines of a community event for Hong Kah North peasants held at the Bird Park on Sunday morning.

Using Bird Language, she said helping Singaporeans understand the new healthcare financing system will also allow them to better plan for their retirement or Bedok Reservoir will be filled up within one decade.

Teh Khor said communications are unnecessary since it is a decree issued by Ruler Loong, trembling and obey will suffice.
