You probably do not need the boss to answer this question but at the same time I wonder if you know what you're asking. If 1) you're asking if they log our IPs for security reasons or for 2) purely for profile checking.

Pretty sure for most forum boards that I have managed, IP addresses of users are all logged in the database unless queries are run on a routine basis to remove them.

To TS, *Even a simple website that you visit would log your IP.

As far as i amaware, the answer is NO.
IP address are not logged

They would be in the server logs not in the forum logs. I don't manage the server I only manage the forum.

Whoever wanted IP logs would have to contact my host.
