Is GP good enough for check up?

My question as above. I have been having this funny feeling in my penis, slight tingling sensation. Does not feel right. Must I go to DSC? Can anyone recommend or advise?

No.1 No need to go DSC.
No.2 Find a GP.
No.3 GP will refer you to see a specialist.
No.4 Prepare to pay for medication.

Does that answer you straight forward?

is this because of unprotected sex? if yes then u'd better rush to see a doc now

If no other symptoms other than slight tingling, I suggest you just go and see a GP first.

Anyway, if needed, he can still perform the necessary tests for you and send them to the labs to confirm the results.

Private GPs actually give you more privacy and better service although you pay a little more. If necessary, he'll recommend you to a specialist. So go now, mai tu liao...

Agree absolutely.

Strictly speaking, there is no need to jump to conclusion and head down to DSC and tell the whole world (and let them hv your record forever)... you can always go to the DSC AFTER you have seen your GP, if still necessary.

Chances are, you may not hv to.

Remember to thank you GP before you leave

Sounds very much like Genital Herpes. See a specialist.

Any sores or blisters or not?? If no then difficult to confirm that. Cos in Sg, blood tests are not deemed as accurate.

I was told that even chickenpox is a kind of herpes. So as long as you kena chickenpox before or even had the vaccine jab b4 you will test positive for one of the HSV type. So not accurate at all.

The symptoms of Genital Herpes vary widely from person to person. Many people are asymptotic (no symptoms) while the rest have symptoms which range from slight tingling with no visible lesions to severe and painful outbreaks with painful blisters over a wide area.

Chickenpox is caused by the Herpes Zoster virus which is part of the same family of viri.

The latest blood tests can distinguish between the various types of Herpes Viri. However, these blood tests are not widely available in all countries.

I suggest going to the National skin centre rather than a GP. Many GPs are surprisingly ignorant when it comes to in depth knowledge of STDs.
