2009年2月，妻子以丈夫行为不合理为由，申请离婚，法官在同年10月宣判两人离婚，并由丈夫承担150 0元堂费。针对赡养费问题，法官裁定，两名孩子每月花费是4733元，丈夫承担其中2400元是 合理的。

百万妻并没有为自己要求任何赡养费。

Bro, to put things in perspective, according to the chinese posting, the wife does not receive any maintenance. The money the guy has to pay for is child maintenance and not for the ex wife. This I feel is reasonable.

No doubt, we need to see things in perspective. But I think in this case, the judgment is based on simply since both kids expenses is 4700++, so husband needs to pay $2400, without taking into consideration of the vast differences in finances between husband and wife

Let's see things in perspective. Wife has 5 properties, earns 1m per year and has 3.2m cash in bank. Husband earns 90K a year

So having 2400x12 is quite a big portion to his 90K. It's not that the husband does not want to pay for kids expenses which he wants to pay $1600, which I think is fair

Since the kids are living with mother, and mother is so rich, of course the expenses would be higher than normal families. So still fair to expect husband to pay 50% of the kids expenses?

In other cases of divorce whereby husband is more wealthy than wife, man is expected to pay 80-100% of the maintenance. Now, if man is so much poorer than wife, he still need to pay 50%

So, is it fair to men?

The ex wife makes her income from stocks trading and collecting rentals monthly. That's the thingy with some local women, if the men having their own bank accounts, they will KPKB complaining husbands don't love them eonugh to share......but then again, what's theirs (women) is theirs alone and it is ok not to share!

IMHO, why can't the ex-wife just let this poor husband go with complete freedom - financially and emotionally?

Well, all circumstances nonwithstanding, I feel that as a Father, he should rightfully pay at least half of the childrens' maintenance. It's like a guy thing, we dudes are supposed to provide for the family whether or not the wife is working or making how much money. It may not seem fair in this age where we talk about equality but it feels to me thats the way it should be.

However, I should say that I am single nor have any kids, it's just my thoughts and what I believe I would do if I was the father in that particular case.

Bros, under the women charter, all man, whether married or divorced need to maintain their wife. Only things available to the wife are what they called matrimonial assets, which are assets acquired after the marriage, and this is divisible between the couple. On the issue of maintenance, if the wife is more than capable to maintain her herself, she gets no maintenance or nominal maintenance, say $1. However, the man cannot escape maintaining his children and should not escape as children do not deserve a divorce and should be well taken care off after divorce. If man is unhappy with the amount of maintenance he has to paid, he can engage a lawyer to apply to court to vary or amend the maintenance amount.

Another way around this is through negotiations. Instead of paying alimony to her, you can negotiate to offer certain of your assets foregoing her monthly maintenance. I know cos I've been through it. For me, this serves as a clean break with my ex and not having any tussles with her ever again.

Yes, prenuptial agreement is not legal in Singapore. The women's charter prohibits any form of prenuptial agreement.

i myself did not even ask him for a single cent when we signed papers. ( u can say i'm stupid or watsoever).

Nt all ladies divorce will ask the other half for half his assets.... My fren divorce his wife and his wife did not ask him for any alimony... all she ask for is my fren to pay the utilities bills monthly & my fren gave her the apartment on his own will. 2nd case, my best bud divorce her husband nt asking him for any alimony as well. nt only did she nt ask for alimony, ahe gave up custody of her kid as well. u can say her heartless or watsoever. i dun give a damn.

a pre-nup is not a legally binding contract in singapore...although the courts will take it into consideration... there is why so rich people go usa to get married where pre-nup is binding

Bro, whether you are unhappy with the division of the assets of your marriage known as matrimonial assets such as house or maintenance, you can get a lawyer to help you redress the injustice. The Womens Charter is incidentally known as WC, get the drift, needs cleaning up by professionals.
