if no court summon to attend, than it not complusory. but it will be best them you drop that a note that you will not be attending due to xyz reasons.

Do note that, if aNy issue arise with your child, these are record reflecting on your behaviour and commitment on upbringing the child. I believe the session wont take too much of your time. If you can afford the time to go, then i suggest you to attend as there wont be anything to lose for you just time. the appointment can be adjusted to suit you.
