Passed by Boat Quay the other night and was approached by one guy on the street to head down to RAV Club as there will be a beauty contest. Curious to know what's in store, decided to drop by and take a look.

Supposed to start at 9.30 but delayed till 10pm. Should be 10 contestants but I think one dropped out so left with only 9. The event is called "Not4Ugly - Ravishing Fiesta" but IMHO the girls are anything but ravishing! Their occupations ranged from poly students to part-time model and even a nurse.

The usual stuff you will expect from a beauty pageant: talent item, evening wear, swimsuit, Q & A etc. A couple of them looked cute and figure not bad while others seemed pretty nervous. Only a handful can barely sing (without music) and dance (with the exception of one cheerleader who wowed us with her stunning moves and splitting of her legs - "yi zi ma"). Well it's only the 1st heat... Too bad I didn't bring along my camera phone or else will post some pics here.

The event will go on every Wednesday and finals will be held on 25 Aug. $12 at the door inclusive of one housepour.

Another place I've recently been to is not a club/disco/KTV but rather a nice cosy place to chill out or tcss - Lobby lounge @ Sheraton Towers. Relax in one of the big comfy sofas sipping your favourite drink while being serenaded by soothing tunes of the piano. The pianist is the main attraction here - local Chinese lady in her mid 20's (I think). Sweet-looking and talented I must say. She plays in the evenings from 6-10pm Mon-Sat.

Very much smaller place compared to Beyond 97 or Marina but can be quite intimate. Live band very versatile, can sing in Mandarin, Canto and English too. One thing to note that this disco open till 5am daily! Maybe it's a weekday, so not much people in the early part of the night, including myself, only 4 tables occupied. The place starts heating up when the party crowd comes in after 3am. Groups of men with ladies in tow, presumably from nearby nightclubs.

Introducing another new joint: Carnaval @ Chijmes (next to China Jump).

Basically it's a club with live band entertainment. No cover charge. DJ plays a wide variety of music, from retro to Top 40s. Intimate place with friendly waiting staff (Indians and Malays). No TVs for football fans but I did saw a projector and screen, guess they will show important matches only. Matured crowd.

First time tried the "Dentist Chair" (idea copied from neighbouring joint?). Not really a dentist chair but you sit on the barstool, open your mouth and tequila will be poured down your throat. The waitress will then pass you the lime slice by her mouth...:D $5 per shot...cheap thrill?

Hi clubbers morning, anyone went to MW last nite? It's not a FR but just to give a heads up on what's happening. Now abit mountian turtle liao. I have not been there since yr 03, just happened to join my friends for bday celebration. No change in deco, but it brought back those old memories that I have often been. At first I thought last nite there was a SDU function or something in simlar. Saw those ladies and gentlemen putting on prefect, student and lecturer badges. Then I discovered that this was just a gimmick. :D

Saw a group of early 20s all wearing student uniforms, some in white-blues ones white-checkered and those in sports wears. All of them wearing revealing skirts with safety shorts beneath. Quite a eyesight for me. Finally I found out that those all models who occasionally went to MW to promote tequilla shots and dance on bartop. Saw one female manageress in her early 30s who is in charge of the models, her figure was overwhelming, wearing a board white tube with big boobs. Although abit bak bak but her face was those mature type. Mummy! When those models started to dance on top freely, all guys dashed in front taking/fliming photos, saw chao geng and admiring them.
