Snoring Issues

Sorry, I don't know whether is this the correct channel to ask this question... nonetheless, hope there are some bros out there who face the same problem as me and may have some useful advice. thanks in advance.

any bros have this snoring problem which ur gf/wife complain to you? how did you work out the problem if your partner is a light sleeper who needs silence environment to sleep? did anyone went to consult ENT? how much is the ENT consultation cost and which hospital did you went? can it be paid by medisave? I heard that after consultation, the doctor will suggest appropriate operation to solve the problem, any bros went thru it? how much is it?

thanks a million!!!

I suppose this is most people's way of saying "I don't know but I don't care so long as I get my way?". How's this question of yours even remotely related to the theme of this section of the forum. Anymore with a basic understanding of English would know that. But you did you imply you don't give a rat's ass anyway.

Re: Snoring Issues

I do have such problem, and sometimes, I snored so loud that i woke myself up.

The way i sort out is to have a higher pillow for my head when I sleep, that helps.

Re: Snoring Issues

from what i understand, snoring is mostly to do with sleeping posture within your neck. change your pillow and something else to support you head or neck so there wont be constriction at your wind pipe.

Re: Snoring Issues

I have the same problem, plus i have the problem of easily becoming very sleepy even if i have 8 hours sleep. i went to the polyclinic and was referred to TTSH, series of tests were done, including the sleep test, the operation costs 2K plus if i remembered correctly and can be paid by medisave. After the operation, the breathing seems much smoother and although i still snore, it is much less lighter according to my wife, but my sleepiness problem still persists.

Re: Snoring Issues

Before I start, please do not zapped me.

I joined a tour group to Malaysia lately. Accordingly to the local tour guide that in east Malaysia, there are those who stay in the village who are able to treat snoring, what they believed is that there are worm in our nose that cause the problem, part of the reason that resulted this is due to the food we ate

I not quite clear the address but there a big sign board on the Malaysia High way to show.

For sharing purpose and no offence to all

Smile Re: Snoring Issues

Snoring issues are a potential sign of sleep apnea disorders. As what some Bros describe, you can seek out ENT doctors where they diagnose you in a "sleep clinic" before proceeding to determine if you are suitable for surgical op.

Another method which my friend has tried is to purchase a patented made in Japan product "mouth guard" that you train your muscles in your gums to grip tighter. After 2 weeks of use, Outcome is that your mouth will close properly during sleep and tounge will not roll back. It retails approx $100 at a push cart at the ground floor of Laing court. (Need bros to verify) It also helps people who have a habit of drooling during sleep too.

Re: Snoring Issues

Bro,

Ask ur partner to observe ur sleep, if you appear to be holding or catching ur breathe during ur sleep, u r likely to be suffering from OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea). If not, it's likely to be cause by sinusitis.

If yes, would suggest u seek treatment from ENT ASAP. If u r worried abt cost, get referral from polyclinic.

Re: Snoring Issues

After all the sleep tests, the ENT will determine what to do.
I did an op to remove part of my tonsil and a small piece of bone in my nose.
Total op cost 20k+ (claimed company insurance), stayed o/n at Mt E since my ENT based paragon.
That was 3 years ago, and I had congee diet for 2 weeks. Lost quite a bit of weight and my boss called me Mr. Singapore.
The funny sounds were gone, but only for as long as I maintained my weight. Am slightly overweight again and snores are back, though not some funny sounds.
You can also try CPAP, a smart system where u sleep with a mask on. When your airway collapses while zzz, the CPAP will send strong air pressure to keep the airway open and you will have undisturbed sleep. No snores too. I got a Fisher and Pakel one for 1.7k.
Suggest u try this first before any ops.

Have a good nite!
