Re: Hepatitis

If you are talking about hepatitis B then below is the list of
HOW HEPATITIS B is transmitted.

* Sexual intercourse with an infected person
* Receiving contaminated blood products
* Infected mothers can pass it to the child during birth
* Needle sharing and needle stick injury
* Sharing contaminated equipment e.g. tattooing and acupuncture needles

Re: Hepatitis

i work in a laboratory
Hepatitis is a general name which means infection on the hepatic gland. which is the liver.
depends on whether it's Hepatitis A, B, C and i've even heard of Hepatitis E.
typical.. when it comes to STD.. only hep B is in the picture and hep B has vaccine. so not to worry so much bout hep B. but if u had gotten hep B then it's a real headache as the vaccine might not work on u after u hv contracted hep B.

Re: Hepatitis

Hepatitis is not easily spread via digestive system as the virus is very sensitive to gastric acid. But of course in large amounts like in totally uncooked cockles will some sip into the small intestines and go into the blood.

But yet the most common way is through sex. Sex is a direct blood-to-external contact via vital fluids. But if someone has Hep B he/she will have abdominal pain upon pressure and then later swelling of stomach.

So watch it, no cure for hep B. Get vaccined.

Re: Hepatitis

Just a brief introduction to hepatits to bros,

hepatitis A - transmission through fecal-oral route mainly via contaminated food. This is not chronic and infections usually clear on their own, abeit after a nasty week of diarrhea, and if serious, jaundice. So go easy on the kwayteow with extra 'ham'.

hepatitis B - Similar transmission like HIV. However, vaccine is readily available.

hepatitis C- transmission is like hepatitis C (blood borne). Unfortunately, no vaccine is available. Treatment via pegylated interferon alpha and ribavarin for 2 - 4months. If untreated, chronic infection may develop into hepatic carcinoma...bad news.

hepatitis D - requires infection of hep B for its own infection, as it 'borrows' hep B virus for its propagation. So if u r vacinnated for hep B, you are protected from hep D

hep E - transmission is similar to hep A, with main source of transmission being lifestock and contaminated meat...so if you stay in singapore...should be ok...unless u r into sheep.

There is also hep F and G, although not well documented, and sometimes believed to be variations of hep C.

To sum up, get your hep B vaccines and pray you dont get hep C .

Re: Hepatitis

It defer from ppl to ppl. Best is to always check for Hep b immunization level.
