I was Naive (Story)

There was no one for me to intro Ah Kai and we parted ways after dinner, I paged Evon after I treated my cut wound with some "Qing Chao you" (Chinese antiseptic solution) and it was a stingy experience.

I paged Evon after that, and we chatted on the phone.

Evon: I don't think your friends like me.

Me: why you say so?

Evon: The way they looked at me, it was kind of scary. I think they see me as a threat.

Me: haha, you think too much lah.

Evon: No Lor, I think they like you.

Me: haha, so are you a threat?

Evon: Maybe.

Me: what is maybe?

Evon: I don't know lah

Me: Eh you like me ah?

Evon: I don't know

Me: how can be you don't know? Like or don't like only.

Evon: I don't talk to you already, I go do my homework.

I decided not to push Evon and we hung up after saying our goodbyes.

This was then my pager beeped, it was a number I thought that I would never see again. It was Pris.

I took a while to recall the events that happened between Pris and me, but I still decided to give Pris a call, after all we are still friends and I do have something in mind.

Me: Hello?

Pris: Yang!

Me: Yah you page me for?

Pris: Do you remember what day is this Sunday?

Me: huh wat day I know Youth Day coming la.

Pris: check your autograph book la!!! (We used to write all these autograph books before grad in P6 now kid I don't know have or not.)

Me: tell me la? I lazy to find.

Pris: My birthday lah, I am having a party. So I was thinking if you could come?

Me: I can come, but first I need A favor from you, I want Stephanie's pager number.

Pris: Why you like her ah?

Me: You want to give or not?

Pris: ok I give, but you cannot say I give one ok

Me: Ok.

I took Stephanie's number from Pris and she told me the party will be at her home on Sunday. I assured her that I will be there and thanked her for the number before hanging up.

I paged Ah Kai on my phone and left him a voicemail.

My voicemail to Ah Kai: Kai, just now you asked me got girl intro you or not right?

Ah Kai called me back immediately, but I told him that I was tired and we will talk about it at school tomorrow.

I paged Jane, and we spoken on the phone. I told her about today's events with Ah Kai, and she was very concerned when I told her I was cut by a pen knife.

Jane: You mean you got slashed?

Me: No lah, small cuts only, some like scratches.

Jane: Got put medicine or not?

Me: Put already lah.

Jane: must still be painful, I know you were protecting your Brother. But you also must be careful mah.

Me: Why you heart pain huh?

Jane: A little Lor.

We spoke a little more and we hung up, to me now Jane was the only one I can really tell everything to. Maybe it was because I never really need to face her like the rest of the girl, and maybe she was very supportive of my actions. I did not think much about Jane after that but focused on how I can make Stephanie impressed with Kai. It was so tough that I gave up after 30 mins and finally decided to sleep.

The next morning, I went to the bus stop as usual and met Evon.

Me: Good morning, Miss threat.

Evon: Huh?

Me: Oh so someone don't want to be the threat huh?

Evon: Who ah?

Me: Don't know, I forgot her name but I think you know her very well.

Her bus came

Evon: I have to go, page me ok?

Me: Ok

I wave goodbye to Evon as her bus move off, I too board my bus soon after and thought about my plans on the way to school.
