Yes, Dongguan is sort of like a SEZ (special economic zone) in Guandong Province, hence it's a city running like a municipal.

This is considered a more 'up-market' town for Hongkies and other foreigner who setup plants there. Generally, it's slightly more expensive than in ShenZhen, but cleaniness and quality is a key-plus point in the Saunas and KTVs and some restaurants.

I usually hang around the WanJiang (万江) District,　ＨＡＩ－ＹＩ　ＪＩＵ-DIAN Hotel Nereus in the WanJiang has a nice Sauna on the 3rd Floor.

Dongguang is accessible by coach from HK airport and Guangzhou, there are several stops so be sure where you are going, you can also travel via LoWu
in a coach.

the ferry is every hour at the longest, it might be half an hour. I was there last month and never waited more than 20 mints for ferry. for hotel you have to go to a 2 star. they are clean. I stay at on in LouHu in the three island complex 4th floor it only cost 140. so take a taxie to the area you want and just look for a small hotel. hope this helps.
