thai baht rate update

Was told by laujiaos that if bring big note to Thailand can change better rate? 1K note and above, any truth in it? Also now change money in thailand still must produce passport? (something to do with $$$ laudering). Sorry but I lost touch with Thailand for a while.

dont know bout the big notes thingy but change money no need passport. changed last friday at pratunam rate was bht 23.99 to 1 sin.

last wk in SG b4 gg saw GM rate was 24.0
chg here as experience always tell me SG rate is better than BKK airport rate
and BINGO again!!!

One more question, what's the limit on bringing in foreign currency? 10K USD? If so must covert all to Baht then bring in? thanks

You are suggesting changing S$ to US$ to THBHT? Don't you think paying the bid/offer spread twice is obviously disadvantageous to you? Shame on you as a Rocket Scientist!

No lah bro, USD more stable mah. My company sending me over to LOS but paycheck can choose to be in SGD or USD. Some countries offer higher rates for USD because greenbacks is 'lingua franca' of $$$. btw i am not a rocketscientist

I agree absolutely, for the relatively small sums of money we change for personal consumption while on vacation, the difference is frequently not worth running around all over Singapore. For those of us who work around Raffles Place it's easy to demonstrate this for ourselves with a few quick queries around The Arcade. Incidently this site has accurate real time mid rates:

For Baht I think best rate in town is from Golden Mile right? And best for ringgit is Woodlands, best rates for so and so in Arab Street and so-on?

At 6.20pm, 24/08/04, the rate at BKK Forex Pte Ltd (Bank counter design) is 24.02. Most of the MC around have the same rate.

tats why i say chg in SG better rate
if chg back SG also chg back in SG better return
but i doubt u left any RAMA9 note.......

Just back from GM, latest rate $1 = 24.06bht.
Hope it drops further..........
