She was really excited and waited for me to pick her up. We had a nice early dinner at Ma Miason's. Seeing her that radiant brought that smile to my face, sad that this is going to end soon. We held hands and headed for home for I knew that she was going to Alan's place tonight. I did not get angry. We went home and she just embraced me tightly. Hsien: How I wish that we were always together. I love you Max. She looked at me as she leaned forward and gave me a peck on my cheeks. her fingers wiped delicately down my face. The tears started rolling down even without knowing. Seeing me like that Hsien could help but cry too. Hsien: Why are you crying dear? Don't be like this... I just going to Alan's for a night. My heart has always belonged to you Max. You know I always will. I tried to look away. But my emotions couldn't escape as my body shivered as I curled up. She kissed me and left unwillingly for she heard the honk. The door closed as I heard the car leaving. I looked around the house. Breathed in the smell of what belonged to the both of us. Sat down in the darkness, hearing the frantic beats of my heart. I then received a sms from Hsien: Dear I will buy your favorite fritters and your Horlicks Soya milk tomorrow ok? Wait for me. I love you. Seeing that message made my heart shrink. I walked to the living room where I took out a piece of paper and started scribbling. My fingers were trembling whilst writing, together with ink smudges from the little drops of tears falling from the corners of my eyes. I folded it nicely and placed it at her dining table. "I'm sorry Hsien." I told myself as I left and closed the door. Each footstep weighed a ton and I found it hard to leave. Shutting my eyes and thinking of how I met Hsien, how she was always there for me when I needed someone. I turned and looked at the door one last time. Took a cab and saw our love nest getting smaller and smaller. Hsien was happily buying the fritters and queuing to buy 2 cups of the Horlicks soya milk. Hsien: Yes! He must be waiting hungrily. She grinned and fastened her pace, carrying all the items on one hand. She opened the door. Hsien: Dear... I bought your favorite drink and food! Smells really good! She looked so radiant and happy. Hsien: Dear! No response. Hsien: Dearie! Her voice echoed the walls. She searched the room. Not there. She searched the kitchen. Not there. Bathroom. Not there. Then suddenly the flashback of him suddenly breaking into tears came to mind. Was something wrong happening? She tried to calm herself down when she saw something lying on the dining table with the words: For Hsien. She took up the letter with trembling hands. The cups of soy milk fell slowly to the ground, splashing puddles of liquid everywhere, soaking the fritters that she bought. She found herself collapsing on the pool of spilled soymilk mixed with oil as she read the letter. Word by word she cried. Sentence by sentence it tore her apart. Her pants were soaked with the mess but it didn't seem to matter to her anymore. She just sat there. As the wind blew, the letter on her hand flew and landed on the pool, soaking and smudging every letter. She stared blankly into space. She looked as though she was emptied inside out. Literally. The pain was excruciating. Was all that she done for him never enough? Why does it have to happen this way. What has she done wrong to deserve this? She stood up, and walked aimlessly to the shower. Turned on the tap with her clothes on. Took the sponge and kept scrubbing herself until her skin was all red. *Was it the reason that I'm dirty?* I will scrub till I'm clean Max. *Is it still not enough?* She scrubbed till there was abrasion on her arms, where it hurt like burns with the water dripping. She looked at herself in the mirror. And threw the shower head directly at it, shattering the reflection of her into bits. That reflection totally said it all. She was already broken to pieces, never to be amended together again. She cried and cried until the tone of her home turned orange red. It was already evening. She walked out of the bathroom. Her heart dead. Emotions gone. Eyes devoid of affection. She was bleeding from the stepping on the shattered glass but it didn't feel pain. There were mixed feelings the moment I received her sms. But there was no other way but to confront her and pass her the keys.

That moment would be forever etched in my memory. It was there that I lost myself. Life began to be different.

Every single day I come back to an empty house, devoid of warmth, life was like a hollow. Seeing Shirley, she would just avoid me and brush me off. There I stood at the center of the traffic junction, seeing the endless vehicles passing by, people rushing here and there. Traffic lights blinking and changing every minute. I lighted the cigarette and took a deep puff. It was my own indecisiveness that led to the scenario that I have today. Seeing the person I loved married to another guy and living together happily just proved one point. I deserve the plight I'm in. Taking such a long time to think about divorce. And always thinking about the 'high and mighty' attitude whom I thought I KCed others, I was completely wrong. In the end, I was the loser. I threw the cigarette butt to the floor and stepped on it with my shoe and joined the busy traffic crowds. Life was empty and cold. And I had to live with the consequence. And there was nothing left to look forward to nor expect. Just have to take everyday as it is. Places my hands into my pants and walked towards the lifeless apartment I call home.
