I too dislike ala carte or add ons incremental charges. It all becomes so very commercial. When a person becomes calculative (rightly or wrongly), she takes away the emotional connection and replaces it with business motivation.

While I agree with you, we must understand Singapore culture is relatively different from the other countries. We grew up in a 1 standard price for top service, no matter if you work like a dog. There is no incentive for working hard. Look at our service industries.
In some of my casual conversation with the MLs, the lots that are spoiling the market are the super stingy and calculative ones. Likes to compare, likes to ask why he gets this service why I don't, why no CIM, why no this, why no that?
Tell me how many bros here actually tip if the service is really good and you do feel it is out of the norm good? If the session is out of the norm good, we probably think 'tan tio', or 'she likes me' or 'I must be handsome'. We had this conversation many times before here in this thread. As Singaporeans, our belief is one standard price, you work your ass off. It is normal. It is my right as a paying customer, and you better show me you love it.
On a personal note, I do prefer MLs to provide me the standard, so I do not have to start worrying if I need to tip. First session is usually base expectation and sets the standard for the next session. Next session improves, should I tip? Then the next session gets better, more chemistry, should I tip? Tough question isn't it? Not forgetting this ML is another human being and do gets tired; fatigue; monotonous overtime, but she still put in effort to make each session better than the previous. After a few times, even after making an effort to make each session better, she still receives the same rate, what incentivise her to do better, for you only? It is natural prioritisation, isn't it? This goes for all other service industries. If I want the waiter to remember me, I tip him. I get prioritised. I definitely gets special service; free desserts, no queue; more attention. By the way, I tip a lot, because I like being remembered, and not just one of the customer.
So I do think Ln does carry things to extreme, knowing her character. She is the super service oriented type, but probably felt taken advantage of. My preference is still one rate, as it provides me the opportunity and the joy of tipping.

It took me a while but I have recently subscribed to tipping too. Exactly what you have brought up, I have also come to realised that genuine hard work should be rewarded.
So for the ones I appreciate, my regulars, I do give a little extra. Ever so often, I'll leave a few extra reds... sometimes I'll place four blues notes on the table. Just to silently tell them I truly appreciate what they have given me. And I won't take advantage of their hard work.
