I reckon Starbucks in the normal glitzy districts such as in Ginza (Omotesando), Shinjuku will be a good start. I normally pop by the one in Roppongi Hills due to proximity to my place.

From what i observe, its not always true that Starbucks is a good pickup place. Many just wanna kick back and enjoy a cuppa with their friends and catch up. Compared to the West, its harder to just chat up a JP lady in a coffeeshop setting.

Best bet is to head to the Supermarkets and Basements of the large shopping malls (where the food/drink area are). Most often, you can at least get digits. Another good alternative of course, is the fashion shops/clothing stores. Zara is a good and safe bet. So is Gap/Uniqlo and if you are feeling a little confident, try out the Omotesando stretch. A nice spring blazer, a nice bag and sharp shoes armed with a decent Japanese language mastery, will bring you places.

Looking at the number of AV fans here, I suppose many of you in this forum harbor a wish to bed a real Japanese. However, the lack of Japanese language ability hinders your progress in the sex scene here in Japan.

Was in Tokyo over the weekend. The airport is like stepping out of a battlefield.

Anyways, had coffee with one of my Japanese store manager (female). I do find that japanese women in general (im talking professional women) are still traditionalist at heart. That means they often take the cue from how the men act and behave. You can have a lady decked out in designer from head to toe, but end of the day, she still expects the guy to make the first move and take the lead.

Essentially, in JP, one has to be bold and confident to excel in the hunting scene. Should not put these ladies on a high pedestal because i found many to be suffering from internal low self-esteem. What you see is merely a front, to guise their lack of confidence and social skills.

In addition, most (in JP) are not used to being "picked up" by men in normal, non-club/pub settings. So more often than not, your rate of success goes up exponentially in such settings (e.g. Supermarket, Boutiques, coffee places etc) due to a lack of competition (unlike the US).

Humility, politeness, good fashion sense (that includes a liberal dosage of high-end designer), smattering of language abilities and gentlemanliness are what comes to mind to impressing a JP lady. Its really quite different the mechanics involved, as compared to say, a Singaporean lady or Caucasian.
