Actually, Alonso had a bad 07/08 season. Seems like not many people can recall. His 08/09 season is much better. Babel, on the other hand, had a better 07/08 season as a left winger than his 08/09 season.

Remember how Rafa said he will like to get his shopping done asap last season? I'm quite worried by how quiet things are so far. Hope he signs his targets fast.

Prolly can get a good 15 mil from the departure of babel and voronin but the transfer market is really out of sorts at the moment.

so it looks like we are going for Tuncay from Boro as well.
I think it's a good signing, cheap and hardworking.
Maybe a little more clinical than Kuyt too.
And i think he won't complain too much being on the bench, much better than Championship football

) but seriously i think his best days may already be over. Owen had played his best football at Liverpool. It was also during his time with Pool that his England career took off. But afterwhich it was a bad career move to Real, then Newcastle which he rarely featured. Perhaps it was a really cruel twist of fate that he had a brush with injuries all too often.

Owen still considers himself a 'STAR' player. Dun thk he'll be happy being a fringe player with d likes of Ngog, Lucas & Co. Mayb if he comes on a free transfer n accept a 30k pound salary/wk, Pool may consider. But I think it's too hard to convince Owen's ego to say Yes.

owen!!?? omg.. he was one of the best players at his prime before he left and then had a series of injuries which ruined his career ( most probably)..

even though we always welcome our prodigal sons back after they leave, i dont think owen is a good fit to the team unless he can put aside his ego and warm the bench everytime and of course take a huge pay cut.

i think distin will be a gd signing but tuncay oh cum on we shd try to build on the team not go backwards,jc n sg want owen back but i think not he left when we needed him but then again he wld score alot with sg n ft ard.i m not to sure abt owen.
