Congratulations to you, brother Offspring. It's heartening to hear from someone like you. I'd like to share a little of my own life here.

probably similar in some ways. starting with the pak tor works... and yes, those mushy mushy days of being "madly in love" - whatever that meant at that time. Looking back, I think puppy love did play some part in laying the groundwork for our life together. It's been abt 20 years, and we have 2 kids in school now.

However, I would not say that the journey has been smooth sailing all along. There have been heavy seas, and I lost count how many times I thought our ship will sink. For reasons unknown, we hung on and remained afloat.

The most amazing thing that happened over the years is that the two of us are now very different people from who we were when we first met. People change, my wife changed, I changed. After weathering some storms, we learned to sail through rough seas. It took some years, but the "puppy love" of our youth has somehow been replaced with another kind of love. I don't know what it is. But today, I'm more than happy to hold my middle aged wife's hand, anytime, anywhere, any hand or even fingers.

In marriage, i have to agree with bro jintulan that it is never smooth. We had our ups and downs, from being happy to nearly divorce. We had our hardships too like being able to afford everything to almost nothing.

Extremes of scales but if a couple can go thru that, everything else seems pretty mundane.

I wish I could say that I'll be happy to hold my wife's hand... but at least I see us growing old together with the children.

bro manitkore, i guess u're doing the right thing, as to not upset the festive mood, but i guarantee she's not in the festive mood anyways. cos relatives will be probing... very typical i reckon.

cant say that u're stupid or siao. cos loving someone no need much reason too... but i think u're in for a very rough ride, cos as long as she's not legally married to the dad2be, she's at the losing end (including the unborn kid). besides, if the dad2be should take her in marriage, chances are.. he's also probably doing it for responsibility sake. (am not expert, but i think there'd be some problems down the road that results in divorce or something harsh)

the issue now is, whether u're prepared enough to come in as the reserve, cos nobody likes to be spare tyre, especially in such a situation... aka buy 1 get 1 free. but if u're good to go.. then i can only offer u my best wishes. cos its a very long & rough ride for you. and cant guarantee if she's gonna be loving u of love u for duty sake.

Not very touching if she knows the real reason... probably punch me and not touch.

Only reason for growing old with her and children is that I am a firm believer that children should grow up in a complete family and should not pay penance for the mistake their father made on marrying their mother.
