One of my ex-boss made his money from the KTV and F&B businesses..... the trick is in the timing and not hold for longterm.
He has this knack of starting businesses either by himself or with some partners and then selling them off after they are up n running.... he will never hold any of these businesses longer than 3 years regardless of how much profit it is bringing in.

He bacame a millionaire during the KTV boom and grew his millions with first the Steamboat craze.... then the Korean BBQ craze followed by the Mookata craze..... he has started and sold more than 60+ of these F&B outlets in just the past 7 years ..... and I learnt from his mistress cum chief accountant he is worth @ USD$140M currently.
But he has to keep a low profile and hide his money because his brothers own a chain of spas (which are actually brothels) in Malaysia and he has lent them money to startup the business. Although he does not involve in his brothers' immoral businesses..... he has this fear of being implicated and goes to great lengths to keep his wealth secret..... and of course most of his money are offshore.

Your ex boss’s business strategy is not suitable for every Tom, Dick and Harry and Toto millionaires except ones with astute business acumen. No doubt he got higher financial IQ!

If you just want to earn interest thru ur 1 mil winning, then just put in the saving account. Check with the bank personnel. There is zero risk fixed deposit which has much higher interest than simply putting in saving account. But dun put all 1 mil in case u need some money before deposit mature.

anyway once u got 1 mil in ur account, bank will ask u whether want to upgrade ur account. After upgrade u will normally have a service manager dedicated to u. He / She will sell / share with u the plans available lol.

when you are so rich, you dont visit the bank, the bank visits you. anyway for the bank to visit you, you need to be their private client level and above... else, branch network is important but not critical.

Erm if TS is not trolling. Basically 2.6m is bloody a lot of money for a common man out on the street. Which bank is safest? I mean you can always say that any local Dbs UOB and Ocbc. It’s lol preetty safe.

I work in the finance industry. Don’t get alarmed, most of the Singaporeans are actually very well off.

It depends on what you want to do with the 2.6m lol. If you put inside a local bank. 1m and above can be private client Liao.

BOS is minimum 2m though.

But Bankers are not stupid. They do a profiling and see where ur cash is from and how much assets you have. Surely you will get calls from them trying to ask you to buy this and that. Open your eyes big big please.

Next up. TS might be real because I personally have seen an associate won the toto before. Solo winner. Not bragging here. Saw the ticket and shit. Lol he bought a conti car and condo.

Most banks would need around $5M to have private banking status. You need $1M~$1.5M to be a private client. Any amount above $200K would get you priority/premier banking.

Fyi, he dint even finish secondary school. His parents were divorced when he was young and his dad business went bankrupt. He survived by doing errands as kopikia for the neighbourhood coffeeshops and gambling dens. Signed on with SAF for 6 yrs and then started his 1st KTV with some buddies. His wealth grew from there..... agree he is very streetwise and can always spot good lobangs which even experienced professionals can't "see"....

yes you're right. the bank is after the $5M and above type, based on stats (at least last time when I was in financial industry), there are quite a number of those singaporeans who fall under this bracket. Anything above 100M there are close to 10% of Singaporean.

Some bros mentioned here are true, there are indeed a lot of cash rich singaporeans around, i wouldn't be surprised there are some lurking in this forum.
