I asked the uncle to head for the hospital instead. Perhaps I can see the smile of Dawn before I bring her to my place.

She was surprised but she just kept quiet, she seem to understand my intention. This time she clasped my hands tightly.

Me: Uncle, look who's here?

Dawn's father was very happy to see us. And he was saying nonstop about us having the couple look and stuff. He was getting better and his voice seemed to get stronger too.

DD: When can I be discharged?

Me: We will have to check with the doctors uncle. But you are looking great!

Dawn: Yes dad. You are looking good!

We spent about an hour as I asked Dawn.

Me: Would you like to go to my office or you want to rest?

Dawn: I'll go with you. You've booked me the whole night anyway.

I whispered back: If I can, I would like to book you for life.

She pinched me and I tickled her back. It seemed as though we had known each other for the longest time.

We waved goodbye to her dad as we left. He was smiling happily.

We got on the cab, towards my house (rented office to her).

Dawn gasped when she saw my house.

Dawn: Oh my god. You sure this is an office?

Me: Yeap. I sort of camp here too.

Dawn: Must be expensive.

Me: I'm lucky. This house belongs to my friend an he rents it to me at a discounted price.

She took a good look at the entire house, with a lush garden in it. There was where I work. There were alot of sculptures covered in huge canvas, to prevent disturbance.

Dawn: That's a lot of sculptures you have there.

Me: Really? Yeah but I still need an assistant to help me in logistics. That would be you. Interested? I can pay you $4000 monthly. How's that?

Dawn: Are you sure?

Me: I'm very sure Dawn.

Dawn nodded silently.

Dawn: But I don't know about much.

Me: It's easy. You will get the hang easily. Leave it to me. Give me some time to draft the appointment letter. But for now you can quit your job.

Dawn: This is the best thing that happened in my life Max.

Me: I'm sure of it.

Dawn: You big egoist!

We laughed.

I brought her to the sculpture and taught her about the tools I used. She was quick and soon she knew which are the tools that I need.

She saw me continuing my sculpture with awe.

It was heaven to see her so happy. But deep in me, I knew I had to go for a checkup and the answer is not going to be happy. But there was another thing I need to do. I had to pretend that I was not that rich, for Dawn would surely get stressed.

I had to buy a flat. A 3 roomed one.

With the plans in my head, I was ready to get it all done. Within this week. And perhaps have a meeting with my lawyer too.

King laid unconsciously on the ground with blood all over. His face and all around. It took him a long time to regain consciousness.

He was lucky that there was a passerby who saw him unconscious and called for an ambulance the next morning.

He woke up.

And he isn't pleased at all.

His entire view was all dark.

And he felt an unbearable pain in his crotch.

He had lost his sight.

And his precious.

*He fell down the slope, where his head hit a boulder rendering him unconscious as he continued to fall. He rolled towards a broken glass bottle where it inflicted a huge cut in his privates. He was bleeding profusely and there was lack of oxygen running through. By the time he was rushed to the hospital, they had to remove it to save his life. Now he had to depend on a tube for his urination.*

King: What the fuck! Where am I? Why is it so dark!

He was throwing his tantrum in the hospital and he was living in a C class.

King: Why is it so noisy and smelly in here?

King's dad: Hush son, please.

King: Hush what hush? You motherfucker.

KD: You are in the hospital.

King: For what! Can you please switch in the bloody light! I can't see a damn thing!

King's dad shook his head.

KD: You can't son. Your eyes has been damaged so badly it's beyond regaining it.

King: Fuck you! What are you talking about? Then give me your eyes you useless old man.

King's dad was disappointed with his son, he rose and then turned around.

KD: What have I done to deserve this?

He placed his palm on his face as he cried.

King was still there, throwing vulgarities.

I went over to Dawn's side and placed the blanket over her. She was sound asleep with that smile.

I carefully kept my things, and went for a shower.

The meeting with my lawyer was at 10am.

I left a note to Dawn to wait for me in the house. There were food on the table and the fridge. If she had to go, there were the keys on the table.

I was happy to meet the lawyer who was one of my best friends, we chatted and he helped me draft a letter, asking if this was a right decision.

I nodded and we parted goodbyes.

Next appointment, the property agent. We scouted and combed the area before I confirmed my flat. Paid for it in full when the agent was shocked. The paperwork was all done. Next thing is just waiting to get the keys from the owner.

The next appointment.

And the one I dreaded most.

A visit to the doctor.

I didn't know why but my heart was thumping wildly.

But irregardless of it, I had the right to know what is happening to my body.

Yup. They collected samples from my body, and the doctor asked me so many questions that I nearly wanted to just leave. Now I just have to wait for the results. They would call me if anything.

I went back and drafted the employment letter, stating the t&cs.

Took me some time but at least everything was coming together.

I took my phone and texted Dawn.

Me: Your employment letter is ready Dawn. Can you come down to sign it?

It did not take minutes. She replied in mere seconds.

Dawn: Yes boss.

She was here very fast.

Today she wore a white long sleeved shirt with gray pants and red heels. Her hair bun up, giving her the OL look. Sexy and demure. I could not take my eyes off her.

Dawn: Ahem.

I stood up straight.

Me: Yes Dawn, here's the contract... have a look.

She bent down, trying to read.

Perhaps it was deliberate.

I saw that pink lingerie which held her soft melons, with that added outline of laces, and in the middle of the bra was a ribbon with a pearl on it. I swore I would like to squish my face there and inhale all that fragrance inside me. She was reading and her slight movements caused her jellies to jiggle, sending that impulse in my mid section.

Dawn: I'm tired of reading. Where do I sign?

I sat back, pointing to her where to sign.

Dawn: Why are there so many sheets?

Me: It's just official paperwork Dawn. Don't worry.

She nodded as she signed off.

Dawn: So what now BOSS?

She teased me.

Me: Nothing at the moment. Perhaps either you stay here or you are welcome to leave.

Dawn: I'll stay. Perhaps you can teach me something about that sculpting?

Me: Nah. It's very tiring. You'll get cuts all over.

Dawn: Am not afraid.

Me: You said it.

Dawn nodded.

Me: Alright. Here we go.

I continued on the sculpture, teaching her the basics. Surprisingly she was able to pull it off, and she was really talented at it.

She paused.

Dawn: Em..

Me: Yes?

Dawn: I think the sculpture looks familiar?

Me: Familiar?

I tried to divert her attention.

Dawn: Why do I feel it's like me? Look at the details.

Me: You must be dreaming. It's just a sculpture.

Dawn: You sure?

She said as she accidentally cut her finger.

Dawn: Ouch.

She said as she dropped the chisel.

I quickly went to the first aid kit and took care of her cut. Luckily it was just a scratch.

Me: See? I told you.

She looked at my arms that was full of cuts. Her gaze now reached up as she looked deep in me.

Time stood still. We looked at each other. And we came closer to each other, feeling each other's breathing. My heart was racing.

Our lips touched for the first time.

Softness.

Wet.

Were the words to describe.

Our lips locked as we buried each other in our embrace.

I swallowed her saliva as her tongue reached for mine.

This was a time which I hope would last forever.

Snow: Mama? Dawn is not working today? Have not seen her. Is she unwell today?

Mary: No Snow. I got a message from her. She has found a job and would quit as a ktv hostess. For good.

Snow: Wow. Lucky her.

She said as she turned around. Smashing the cup that was beside her.

King did not know how severe his condition was.

He continued to create a big scene, cursing and swearing vulgarities, becoming a nuisance to the patients.

The nurses who went over was sexually molested, he could not keep his hands to himself. They ran off and told their superiors of his actions.

His dad was called but it was futile talking to his son.

King did not believe that this was happening to him.

He could not accept the truth that his sight and manhood was gone.

Soon no one in the hospital could stand him and they distanced themselves, unless they are dressing his wounds. His hands would be tied to the bed, making sure he can't do any silly tricks.

A few weeks passed and soon he was starting to cope with it. But he was the same as usual, crude as ever.

It was finally time that he could be discharged from hospital.

Dawn and her father had moved in to my 3 room flat that I said was my actual home. I had told them that I spent most of my time in the office so they can live in peace. Furthermore, there was a maid to take care of their needs.

Dawn was an efficient assistant, and she could get things done fast.

Through her, I was able to complete many pieces of art for auction and exhibitions.

Snow on the other hand, kept waiting. Until a day she would see me visit the ktv again.

It was my appointment again.

The doctor had come to my place.

Not a good sign.

I told Dawn she could take the day off to spend with her dad. She nodded happily.

She waved goodbye to my with that angelic smile.

And I did the same.

The doctor sat down with a frown on his face.

Doctor: You are not going to like what I'm about to tell you Max.

With that, Dawn's eyelid twitched. What was that sense of uneasiness?

She wasn't always the superstitious kind, but she thought it might be a good time to go and pray for a lot. At the famous Guanyin Temple. The divine lot might reveal many, she thought.

Dawn knelt and wished for a divine lot.

She had asked about me.

It took her quite sometime before a lot fell.

She asked if it was the lot she was asking for and the crescents said yes.

LOT 24.
"Your home is broken up by disputes without a cause. Like withered bloosms drifting on a bottomless ocean. Grace will hardly aid an idot or fool. a heap of troubles is all that remains."

In this scene, a fool is trapped and can find no way out. In such a situation, you can do nothing but put up with your difficulties. Tolerance can work miracles. Breathe no gossip and spread no scandal, look after everything carefully. Be as hard working, honest and friendly as you can. In this way, you may keep yourself out of disaster. Both you and your family will be in danger. Business cannot be done nor money earned. Prospects for matrimony are not promising, so parties concerned have to wait. Pregnancy is only possible through prayer. Grains, silkworms and domestic animals will all encounter disease or plague or be injured in other ways. Visitors will be delayed, and the missing cannot be found. Things lost are very difficult to find. You will lose lawsuits. It is a good year for migration. The sick person is in danger, so quickly pray for god’s mercy. Misfortune will affect your ancestral graves.

There was just something here that worried her.

Just what was that uncertainty?

I walked along the streets like how a man had lost his soul. My mind was in a total blank. How could this be true? How?

How was I to break this to Dawn?

I walked on, ignoring the surroundings. It was as though the world meant nothing to me.

Until a deafening honk was heard.

Suddenly someone pulled me back.

The driver pushed out his middle finger as he drove.

It was a familiar voice.

Snow.

Snow: What are you doing?

I rolled my eyes to my right, catch a glimpse of her as my nose bled again.

Snow: Max! Are you alright?

Without saying anything, I blacked out.

Now King was slowly resigned to his fate.

He can't see nor have sex. And it was driving him real mad.

His dad was not around most of the time due to his work. King had shut himself in the room.

Spoilt as he may be, his ability to adapt was fast. Soon he could navigate around his flat. he knew where the windows and doors were. And he could walk away with ease.

He kept laughing to himself and saying the word: Karma... karma...

He laughed and could't stop.

He was practically dancing in the kitchen like a ballerina.

His dad had shut the windows, preventing him from trying to commit suicide.

He turned and swung his arms.

The utensils fell to the ground but he didn't give a damn.

It was when he hit something.

And he ignored it again, dancing in his own world, knocking everything down.

Dawn was worried as she took the divine lot and asked the old lady who had a small table right outside.

She shook her head as she told her to be prepared.

The fear in Dawn surfaced more.

It took me a while to regain my consciousness and I saw Snow sobbing at the corner.

I tried to stand up slowly.

Me: Snow? Where am I?

Snow: The hotel where I first met you.

Me: How?

Snow: I have my means Max. Why did you lie to me? Heaty?

Me: How did you know?

Snow: I could have guessed it Max.

Me: It's nothing serious Snow. Please. Don't be like this. I need to go back.

Snow: You are not going back until you tell me everything!

Me: I am leaving.

Snow stretched out her arms towards the door and forbid me to open the door.

I brushed her aside, and opened the door.

Dawn stood outside.

Shocked.

I paused.

Dawn took a look inside and there was Snow, getting dressed up.

Dawn: What are you both doing?

Me: It's not what you think Dawn.

Dawn turned in tears and ran. I gave chase.

Snow arched her lips sideways as she looked to the side.

But given the condition that I was in, I was not able to catch up.

I ended up with a loud thud.

Her steps stopped. And she turned around.

I collapsed on the floor with blood around. She came to me and shook me.

Dawn: Max? Max?

I could hear her voice. But my body just won't react. My eyes were running wildly. All I could manage is touch her on her face, saying "Forgive me" before I blanked out again.

Snow looked at herself in the mirror, thinking that her plot had worked. It was her who told Dawn to visit her at the hotel. She texted her. Snow paid some guys to help carry me to the room. Her timing was perfect.

Snow: Let's see if Dawn can forgive you. You are mine Max. You are mine. I met you first. I touched you first.

She walked out with a sense of triumph, trying to look at the heartbroken Dawn.

But never did she expect to see me unconscious on the passageway while Dawn was calling for help. The ambulance came and Dawn followed me to the hospital.

Snow had never expected it to turn out so drastically.

Dawn held on to my hand, asking me to respond to her. She was trying to say alot of things to me.

Dawn: I have so much to tell you Max. Please...

A sprinkle of tears came on my left arm. A trinkle on my right. Then it started falling. I could feel her but my body would not react. All I could muster myself was smile.

Snow turned white. She immediately ran. Hailed a cab to tail the ambulance.

King's dad got his salary as he bought King's favourite food. His dim sum.

He carried it up and sniffed, letting it's aroma flood his nostrils.

He lifted his head.

And there was a huge explosion.

He saw a huge gust of black smoke and orange rage. A man flew out of the window pane, as if being blown up. He was in flames. He shrieked and waved his arms frantically. Then he fell.

King's dad counted the levels. And he was getting really worried.

KD: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8

4TH!

Before he could react, the man fell in front of him. Charred and broken.

King.

He dropped the bag containing his favourite food.

And he could not believe his eyes.

I was rushed into the A&E.

Dawn could not stop crying. And the imagery of the old lady who shook her head was coming into view. She clasped her hands together, praying hard.

Dawn: Let no harm come to you dear. Please. Though I have not told you, you should have known by now. I was moved by your every actions. The little things you did for me despite your average background. Please... god.. save him... I can't do without him. Please...

She closed her eyes as she chanted her prayers.

Snow hid herself as she pulled her hair.

Snow: Why? Why did this happen? Please... it's all my fault... let the bad come to me... why hurt an innocent man like Max? Please...

Snow stepped out, and walked towards Dawn.

Snow lowered her head.

Snow: It's my fault Dawn. He did not do anything to me. I was jealous. I wanted him. I could not take it that he was always thinking about you. I could not accept it. Even when I was totally naked or tried to seduce him, he would not yield to me. He fell in love with you the first time.

Dawn slapped her.

Dawn: Now you are happy? Happy?

She stared hard at her.

Dawn: He often spoke about you. About how good you were as a friend, as a sister. All because of your jealously. ALL BECAUSE OF YOU!

Snow covered her mouth as her vision started to blur.

She fell to her knees.

Snow: I... I didn't meant for this..to happen.. really....

Dawn's mascara had already smudged as she shook. She turned her head as she shook her head.

I was pushed out as Dawn ran to me. Snow could only look from a distance.

She did not dare take a step forward. She crossed her arms and wrapped it around herself as she looked at the floor and cried.
