never been to Batu before so dunno.. but to put things straight, when I go with friends to Balai.. usually don't even go out, unlike Batam, I go out a lot, and hence this is my own views only. But like I said.. practise caution when you go out, should be good.

Bro, next TCSS, when I tell u wat happened to a few samsters in this forum, you will not put Tg.Balai no. 3....

I agree. Common sense will tell us the risk are there. Not that I deliberately walk alone at lonely streets like hero. But so happened I had to past that street to reach the Wartel. There were some ojeks..but they dont bother or give you that kind of stares at Balai. I was merely comparing Batam and Balai, facing the same scenario, I would think the risk of being harrass or rob in Batam is greater. Anyway, its only my opinion.

Of course present Batam Centre is much better and safer than former B Ampar. You dont see touts and holligans like they used to have at B Ampar. Actually I was referring to the town area where we encountered some unpleasant events. Not at B Ampar. My mistake.

Comparing Batam Centre(Port) and TP (Port), I concur with u that TP not as safe as Batam Centre.

Last time I went to Balai, walk past every ojek also look at me as if I want ojek like that woh, in Batam Ojek don't even look at me, cuz they know Sgreans seldom take ojek one.. Taxi ask just smile and say no can liaoz.. no one will harass...

Like you said, same scenario, but why did you even let yourself fall into that scenario ? That's cuz you never take caution. And, unless it's some dark alley which isn't even safe in SG not to mention BL or BT, walking there would not have any inconvience even in Batam..
