Re: PRC marriage help

so, is there ANY way out not to get fucked by women's charter?

ROM in china, and don't register with ROM in SG can ar? maybe apply like study pass or something ...

else the best scenario would be just to stay together without a legal ROM? why not? after all ... holding wedding dinner don't need you to sign ROM paper wat ... though this might take quite a lot of convincing ...

Anyways some background info: I graduated from one of the 3 unis here. GF is similarly a China uni grad. Went to China for a few months and got to know her throughout that time. Came back to Singapore, and still maintained strong contact. She has graduated for one year already, and has worked in some big-name media companies. However, her command of English is poor. Anyway, like they say, love has no boundaries. I cherished the times spent in China, and would want to bring her to Singapore. She has indicated she is very willing to consider this step.

1) My question is, if she were to join me in Singapore, are there any feasible white collar jobs she can take on? A pay of 1.5K-1.8K would be reasonable I feel. White collar because I would be able to spend more time with her. She has a degree in arts and tourism. Proficient in calligraphy, chinese painting (not much use in Singapore though, it seems

2) If I were to marry her, is it easy for her to obtain PR?

Thank you so much bros
Cheers

Hi Bros here, is it better to apply for PR immediately after marriage or should I apply for Long Term Social Pass then PR?

Re: PRC marriage help

if you call up ICA they will ask you to wait after 1year of marriage for better chance.

still you can give it a try. it just time wasted if you don't success at the first attempt isn't it? the process is easy. book an appointment to submit all your documents and wait for 3-6months. although getting all the documents ready does need some times and effort. you need your wife to get them ready in China which will take a couple of weeks. after getting it, you need to translate it which should not take long but not cheap. your personal documents should be easy to prepare. after submitting, keep all the documents and make spare just incase. especially those translation copy.

try to get all the documents right the first time so you don't have keep going to ICA which can be very disruptive to your work.

if things didn't work out, you can seek MP for help. personally i know of a case that seeking MP does get the job done. if it doesn't, you can reapply again.

still, there are cases which PR was approve before 1year of marriage with no long term VISA apply

Yes...... if you have the money and she have no adverse records.
The benchmark has been raised to $500K for immediate approval.
Used to be $300K previously. When you submit your application include your bank statement or a letter from your banker stating you have cash/fd of $500K on hand.

Singapore is after all a money minded country.

IRAS reports is your earning capacity....... there are people who dun need to work one so where got IRAS returns. Anyway my post is for those cases which are eligible for immediate approval criteria.

If you are poor or belong to the working class...... go join the queue and wait for your PR.

Need advice from bro out there.

Got married with my PRC wife last Nov and got LTVP till now.
Had applied PR for her June tis year but just received letter
that application was unsuccessful.
What is the next step to do?
1) Go down ICA and check with officer on the reasons why PR application was rejected?
2) Look for MP to write letter

Any bro could advised? thanks

Hi bro,

Dont mind I alittle bit long winded and a little off track. Now for PRC to obtain PR in Sg is rather difficult since the Zhang Yuan Yuan participated the PRC national day incident. Before her incident, alot of PRC who studies in SG will given PR after they completed their studies here and after 3 yrs of bond in SG will entitle them for citizenship( depend on pay ). If you take a closer look in the new terms and condition by the ICA, now for PRC to apply PR in SG must earn at least 2800. As your wife apply for PR is alot more depend on your $$$. ( My assumation )

Sorry if I had made any mistake....

Brother think it will be getting harder this time as our MP had said on Thursday :

News as follow:

Fewer applicants to be granted PR status this year: DPM Wong

Fewer applications for Singapore Permanent Residence (PR) will be granted this year, said Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng in Parliament on Thursday.

With the tightening of the immigration criteria introduced late last year, the number “will be noticeably less than that in 2009,” he said in reply to a question from Nominated MP Professor Paulin Tay Straughan.

She had asked for the number of applications for PR in 2009 and this year, and how many were successful.

According to The Straits Times, Mr Wong claims the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) received a total of 132,000 applications for PR last year. Out of these, 115,900 applications were processed, and 59,500 or 51 per cent were successful.

In response to questions about the profile of successful applicants, he said the majority of them qualified under the Professional, Technical and Skilled Workers Scheme. The rest were dependents of Singapore citizens or dependents of the economic PRs.

Mr Wong, who is also the Home Affairs Minister, pledged, “We will continue to be stringent in our requirements for PR. PR will be granted to those of suitable quality, are able to contribute to Singapore and integrate well into our society.”

Explaining the need for allowing immigrants into Singapore, Mr Wong said it helps improve the old-age support ratio by increasing the number of economically-active residents.

He told the House that in 1970, when Singapore’s Total Fertility Rate was above the replacement rate of 2.1, each elderly person was supported by 17 working adults.

“Currently, we have about 8.2 working adults in the resident population supporting one elderly person. If there were no PRs, we would have slightly fewer adults, at 7.2 working adults supporting 1 elderly person,” he said.

“If we were to close our doors to immigrants tomorrow, we can expect the old-age support ratio to fall very fast. In short, we would still need immigration to make up for the shortfall of babies and help ease the pressure of an ageing population. We will carefully manage the numbers to ensure quality of immigrants,” he explained.

He added that declining population is a long-term issue and it requires to be tackled ”several decades ahead, of the problems manifesting themselves.”
