Re: JB Traffic Police, Customs, Fuel Check and Driving experiences
Hi All Brothers for contributing to this thread! Continue to do so so as to keep one another informed of unforeseen traps.
I just want to check if anyone kanna check fuel level as we exit sg custom? Mine has been pleasant without any checks so far, except for the usual opening of car boot. Any feedback? |

Re: JB Traffic Police, Customs, Fuel Check and Driving experiences
Hi Bros, just got back form genting last weekend and thought i share my experience with you. I got summon on my way up to Genting, got caught at speed trap around pagoh area. I do admit that i was speeding, but the thing that pisst me off really badly was a few things. He said i was speeding and told me RM $300, naturally i asked him what was my speed that i was travelling, he said he dont know, then i asked him what is my car plate, he had to go to the front of my car and check my car number plate. I asked him if he knew anything at all? He just smiled and said want to settle or pay full? In the end i was forced to pay, but i didnt pay RM $100, managed to get it down to RM $50 instead.
And the biggest joke was this, i saw a huge truck carrying tree logs and they also stopped him for speeding! Are those malaysian police really that dumb to think that a huge truck fully loaded with tree logs can travel beyond 110km/h? I overtook that truck before stopping at the road block and that poor truck was going no more than 60km/h, in fact struggling to move to begin with. So there it is, am pretty pisst off with the bloody system malaysians have. |

I myself never kanna check b4 but I also don't "hiong" cos my car fuel tank small. Doesn't make much of a diff to me as my main purpose of going MY is not for petrol. Driving honda jazz. On your way back to Singapore, there are checks at the old MY customs. I have seen cars with alot of coloured stickers/blue headlights parked at one side and the drivers out of the car negotiating with the officers. So as one brother said, better for car to remain stock. "Zhng-ed" cars will give the MY officers excuse to fine you only. Go to petrol kiosks with alot of singaporean cars to top up rather than go to a deserted kiosk. Queue long also just wait. Safety more important. Stay low profile and don't flaunt your money. |

Re: JB Traffic Police, Customs, Fuel Check and Driving experiences
Ok, with regards to the DVD and game discs ruling. The SGP gov do practice the open one eye close one eye policy discreetly. When x ray scanning is done, they do notice your discs but may let you through because you did not carry alot. Try one bagful and see if they stop you or not.
Do not buy discs without the movie label or pix burnt on it. Blank discs with just the name are big No Nos. The bigger the crowd and the longer the Q, the easier it is for you to get by. Once caught,do not argue, just submit your IC and wait for MDA letter. Cars- pls keep them in glove compartment or under your car carpet. Get an old folk to keep them, officer generally do not harrass them. Those driving MPVs big advantage. Try to smile at the officer and don show black face. Those driving souped up ,turbo charged cars are more likely to be stopped. Trust me..everytime I drive my souped up old type cefiro..sure kena. Drive sedan or family type...safe passage. Do not disrepect the anti piracy law, govt realise they canot stop you but pls do not go overboard. I got aunties buying drama serials by the dozens. Worst case I kena, 12 discs, two packs of cigs and bubble gum. |

Re: JB Traffic Police, Customs, Fuel Check and Driving experiences
Ah,curry fishhead and roast duck cheaper and much tastier in JB. SGP bros, who cheong in JB will know. I know of a resturant in JB who offer whole suckling pig at less then RM 200... tasty...
I think govt insist on taxing items like medication, health supplements and everyday groceries. My friend who is it direct sales went to JB to buy some products and must pay hundred plus dollars of taxes. As for the discs, please be careful with the x-rated types. If caught, will be quite serious. That is why I ask the "pirate" to transfer to my phone. (Porno on mobile) |

Re: JB Traffic Police, Customs, Fuel Check and Driving experiences
it is ok to bring back roast duck as I've tried a number of times and they will close one eye and let me through. Pork is confirmed a no no! Do not try to bring in roast pig.
