Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Such a boring match! The ball was kept in the mid-field most of the time. The reds look like they just play their first match together.I wonder why didn't rafa bring on Babel and benayoun earlier after we lost torres? If we continue to play like that, fourth place is a question mark.

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Sigh... Here goes a legend.
Liverpool defender Finnan signs for Espanyol By Soccernet staff The Irishman will leave Anfield. The 32-year-old Republic of Ireland international, who has spent the last five seasons at Liverpool, will help provide defensive cover at Espanyol following the recent departure of right-back Pablo Zabaleta to Manchester City. Finnan will be on international duty for the next week or so but Espanyol hope he will be available to make his debut for Bartolome Marquez's side in the home match against Getafe on September 21. The Irishman has been marginalised at Anfield after the signings of Philipp Degen and Andrea Dossena. Meanwhile, Rafael Benitez has added to the club's Brazilian contingent after youngster Vitor Flora joined the Reds on a free transfer. The club confirmed that a deal has been agreed for the 18-year-old striker who holds an Italian passport and spent last season with Brazilian outfit Botafogo. Flora joins compatriots Lucas and Fabio Aurelio at Anfield and could make his debut in the reserve-team fixture against Middlesbrough tomorrow if international clearance is received in time. The club also confirmed the permanent signing of Hungarian goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi, who spent last season on loan playing for the reserves, from MTK Hungaria |

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
I'd the chance to speak to King Kenny when he was in town last week and I took the chance to ask him about his views on the sad state of liverpool.
In the King's humble opinion, he feel that Liverpool has a great chance of winning the league this season. He mentioned to me that the team has a very good "spine" - i.e. a great keeper, Reina; a great defender, Carra; a world class midfielder, Stevie. G; and a top striker, Torres. This spine is essential for any league championship team material. And this is exactly why he thought we have a very decent chance of ending our drought this year. However, he also told me something equally important for any league champions and that is POSITIVE THINKING. And this is where he thinks Liverpool is lacking slightly. We go into some matches not hoping for a win sometimes and because of this, the team are unable to perform to its full potential. Anfield used to be a fortress last time but now, it's more of a park. Every team can have an easy stroll there. Told him I agreed with him on the lack of positive thinking but I also let him know that I seriously don't think Liverpool has any decent chance at all this season. Now don't get me wrong, I'm a pool fan through and through. Anfield runs in my blood. But after 3 matches, I still don't see any improvements from last season. So what if Keane has joined the club, he's not the messiah who's gona get us the title. Our team has too many medicore players who just can't perform week in week out. And i personally feel everyone is still too dependent on Stevie G. In my humble opinion, we should sell him for a very good price now and buy a few quality players who can give the team more dimension. The way Liverpool is playing now, every move is so predictable. *sigh* As a die-hard pool fan, I really wish our team will perform better and more consistent... but at the back of my mind, I know this season will not be the season. Not unless the players begin to feel that THEY ALL CAN!!

I'm also not happy with the team's recent performances. In fact we started last season playing much better attacking football. But Rafa is right to point out the problems we have - SG playing with pain, the Olympians returning home late to the squad, the failure to sign Barry and lacking balance on the left. Give the team some time. |

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
VORONIN SIGNS LOAN DEAL AT HERTHA BERLIN Paul Eaton 01 September 2008 Andriy Voronin has today agreed a one year loan deal with German side Hertha Berlin. The Ukrainian international joined the Reds twelve months ago and has netted six goals in his 27 appearances for the club. Voronin has so far failed to establish himself as a first choice regular on Merseyside and has taken up the opportunity of spending the next season in the Bundesliga. Another striker off our wage bill. |

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
sad to see Finnan goes,he has been good for us.
wish that DIC can get the Yankees out of Anfield,so that we will also have cash-rich Sheiks and really do not have to worry about debts, funds to buy players of good quality.
