They dont even KNOW leh... Basically TP are not allowed to cite any of these modifications [they need JPJ and the use of calibrated instruments to detect and confirm the legality or "illegality"] So, TP just simply point to any "offense" and demand kopi money. If TP stops you and say that your HID's are not legal, just ask them to issue summons [definitely they dont dare to, afterall they just wnated the kopi money] Just tear off the summons [even in front of them and go off] MY is not efficient to catch even Malaysians , let alone foreigners

Re: JB Traffic Police, Customs, Fuel Check and Driving experiences
Dear Brothers, I saw one SG car flagged down by malaysian tp, on the causeway, just after the old run down malaysia custom. Seemed they have jurisdiction of the roads right up till the very end before we call it home sweet home. Thus, please do not let your guard down thinking that it's all safe after having your passport stamped. Happy travelling!

Re: JB Traffic Police, Customs, Fuel Check and Driving experiences
Bros, I have kenna a few times at customs on so called passport irregularities. They will say your passport photo do not match you and ask you what you are going to do. I just tell them if you do not want to let me pass and I can't change the photo on the spot, I will just turn back to SG. The customs officer keep on aksing is that what you want to do, and I will always reply yes. I said even SG customs never say my photo differ. You stick your ground and they will 'lan lan' let you pass through. Always check to see your passport get stamped properly. They was once one of them even wrote ' Last Chance to enter, need to change passport photo'. Not sure is this is legal and they can write on the passport. Any immigration bros can advise?
Just sharing some not so pleasant encounters when crossing over to the other side. jks6long |

Re: JB Traffic Police, Customs, Fuel Check and Driving experiences
Just tear off the summons in front of them and go off? My friend you got to stop dreaming and get in touch with reality. Malaysian police don't need so much as a justification to whack the hell out of you for that show of insolence right in front of them. In Malaysia they are the law and they can abuse it anyway they deem fit. Unlike in Sg where law and order exists. Unless of course you have a fetish of being beaten up in a police lockup. (they can beat their own citizen to death, just think what they would do to an insolent foreignor who doesn't respect their authoritah)

Re: JB Traffic Police, Customs, Fuel Check and Driving experiences
Let me share my experience with everyone. I've never been fined during my drives to KL as I am a stickler for staying on the speed limit. And in case you think that perhaps sometimes I may inadvertently increase my speed, I actually check my speedometer very very often to ensure that I am maintaining the same speed. Even if I did exceed for argument sake, it will be like 115km/h, which in reality, isn't 115kmh as our car's speedometer shows a slightly higher speed than the real speed (bros, correct me if I'm wrong).
Anyway, I've never been stopped until the last time I drove to KL. I was apparently driving at 121kmh. What bullshit. If I was speeding and stopped, it's my fault. But to be stopped when I wasn't even speeding was total bullshit to me. Maybe the kopi money takings that day was bad. Anyway, I raised my voice and argued with the cop. In the end, I just gave him my licence and told him to just book me. No way was I going to pay him even 50sen, let alone 50 ringgit. So he took down my particulars (or so I thought) and gave my licence back to me. He then left to book another SG plate car behind me. I was fuming so much that I got out of the car and asked the driver of the SG car if he was speeding. And he said no (don't know whether true) That was when I loudly said it's fucking bullshit. I wasn't speeding and this idiot still want to book me. Not sure if the cop even understood me, but I didn't care as I was just angry. Anyway, I didn't get any fine (checked a JB Polis website for months after that and no fine. Anyone knows the URL? Good to check if the 2nd hand car you want to buy has an outstanding fine), so i think the cop was just pretending to book me. He didn't even issue me a ticket. Moral of the story? No kopi money. The more we give, the more they will find excuse to book you or invent one (like in my case). It becomes a self perpetuating cycle. But perhaps, don't react like I did. A more seasoned cop may make it difficult for me as I didn't give him face. |

Re: JB Traffic Police, Customs, Fuel Check and Driving experiences
hi all,
just for info for those who got summon by MY TP like no seat belt, speeding , etc.. they now stationed just outside the new custom and will block all s'pore car to one side. then they will radio check with HQ and check whether ur car plate got kana summon or not and whether have paid up.. if found out u have not paid up, they will escot a few of the sg cars to nearby police station and pay up the summon. I got it last week and very 'proudly' escot by MY TP.. the best part was the fine got automatic discount.. from rm80 to rm50.. remember don throw away the receipt, who know whether they have closed ur case.. if not u have to pay again... anything impossible can become possible in MY.. |

Re: JB Traffic Police, Customs, Fuel Check and Driving experiences
The chances of being stopped by MY TP is very slim. Whether or not you committed any offence. They may find all accuses to book you, actually they may want a liitle kopi money. If there is a way out, paying a small amount of MYR$20 to 50 is a small amount to us. If you have to, pay up to save you a lot of trouble when you are there for a pleasant holiday. If you were to argue your right, you maybe asking for more trouble. My two cents worth.
In my twenty years of driving to Malaysia. I only been stopped once at Seremban in 1994, I was caught with 115km. There was no other way but was issued a summon ticket of $100. It was speed trap operation on that day. Remember there are hundreds of SG cars travelling on Expressway, so the chances are very slim of being stopped. If you had to speed, check that cars behind overtake you at more than 110kmh, give yourself a minute and try to chase those cars, by observing far ahead if there are any cars being pulled to the side. When you about to pass those overhead roads or bridges, slow down. Speed cameras might be installed. In another word, speed up when necessary. Always observe MY cars.
