Re: All you need to know about "Marriage/Divorce" under the SG Law
I am now in talks with her with regard to paying her a lump sum amount so she can close the case and leave me alone. I think it's better that way as it prevents her from "holding me by my balls" in the future. Just imagine she sees me with my flashy car and new babe. She sure tekan me with $1 maintenance option. I am already paying $1.5 k for my 2 kids maintenance. I didn't know women can be more ruthless and heartless than men. It's been an eye opener for me this time. Kinda hard for me to trust anyone now....

Re: All you need to know about "Marriage/Divorce" under the SG Law
Can some kind soul help to advise me accordingly. I am a bankruptcy and now i decide to divorce with my wife after more than 10 years. My questiion is:
1. Will the OA take all my money from my sale of HDB flats. Because i intend to give all the money to my wife and children after i sell the flat. 2. How long is the procedure of divorce with both party consent? Meaning that we got a ground of sleeping at different rooms for more than 3 years even under 1 roof. Hope i can get some useful answer so i can proceed. Thks in advance

Furthermore, during the first appointment, inform the sale officer abt yr bankruptcy. U can request HDB to issue to 2 separate cheques due to yr special circumstances on the second appt. On the other hand, u must declare this sale proceeds in the statement of affairs and expenditure in yr next submission. Of cos yr OA will be pleased if u offer part of yr sales proceeds to contribute to yr bankruptcy estate. U only need to seek approval, when u wish to purchase a 5-rm HDB or bigger. Or any one of the co-owners who is a SPR and intend to sell.

I am paying maintenance for wife and two children. One of my children has just completed her degree and is 23 years ago. Can I apply to stop paying maintenance for her, or I have to wait until she finish her honors degree? Or I have to wait till she completes her PHD?

Not when the are still studying. The judge award the maintenance to wife and children when my eldest is 22 years old. My question is when can I stop the maintenance of my children. When they first their basic degree, or honors degree, or masters or PHD?

Re: All you need to know about "Marriage/Divorce" under the SG Law
I read some of the stories here i really feel like crying
It seems that the women's charter is really being abused, and all this nonsense was actually started by AWARE We men should set-up AMARE (Association of Men for Action and Research) to give AWARE (Association of Women for Action and Research) a run for their money. They have it too good for too long. With this organisation if we can raise enough awareness and votes, we can maybe even send our own members into parliament . I bet is there are enough members in the organisation we can sway the votes and make the state take notice of us and maybe even do political donations to those who are willing to listen, which i am sure there are, basicallly lobby them Maybe i should start such a website and a forum and have people sign up as members and everyone just try to help out each other in advice and hopefully have enough members to ensure the state takes notice of us as a powerful voting force What you guys think, any thoughts |

Re: All you need to know about "Marriage/Divorce" under the SG Law
Guys, got 1 question to ask.
I own a flat before i got married. This means i bought the flat with my CPF before marriage and is 100% owned by me. Only my name is on the deed, my wife name is not there at all. My question is if there is a divorce can the family court force me to sell the flat and give her 1/2 the falt even if the property was acquired before marriage. Does the law/wc only apply if the any property was acquired after marriage that means those property bought before marriage does not apply? Any comments would be helpful |

Re: All you need to know about "Marriage/Divorce" under the SG Law
Quote:
bro, you're in bad luck. put in layman's terms first you go into mediation and see how much you want to give her... assuming everything fails and both of you file affidavits... joint assets would be split accordingly AND afterwhich, she gets a certain percentage more (deducted from yours) depending on the years of marriage if you earn more than her. if you have children, all your assets would add up compared with hers, to determine the percentage of child maintenance(depending on child's age and expenses) you have to pay. If it's held solely in your name, but both of you are living in it, that complicates matters. If you're not staying in it and purely using it as investment, it would form part of your declared assets for court's assessment on the percentage to give her. court won't force u to sell. but if flat cost $10, and you have $1 in bank, your assets is $11. If she only has $1 in bank and owns nothing... it's a 11:1 ratio... of course this is not the exact calculation, but depicted in a way layman can understand. Don't be gungho to offer anything, check with your lawyer what are the precedence cases and offer way below for neg. Women are emotional and lawyers love them... they would think whatever you offered is low and try to ask for ridculously more (to live a better life than they were with you or think they don't have to contribute child maintenance) only for court to wake them up eventually. and both parties loses $$... Only beneficially are the lawyers. Must remember, very often lawyer will tell female clients they have confident to fight for more even when slapped with a deal better than what the court would give before affidavits, and that's only because they base it on evidence that has yet to be submitted, so possibility is always there even if the probability is 0.0001%. So most female undergoing divorce spend quite a bit of unnecessary $ in divorce. So check with your lawyer, and don't hesitate to go into affidavits... mediation in court today are.. no comments.... my opinion: if i go into a law school, graduate with top honors, i'll become a big lawyers earning big bucks and not join goverment service to be a judge...
