Who hasn’t heard of SZ? It was here that Deng Xiao Peng, whom many, myself included, regard as the true and only father of modern China, started the modernization of China with his famous slogan ‘to get rich is glorious’. The ‘black cat, white cat’ saying? That probably got the monkey of some western journalist who can’t put it out of his mind.

Most of us associate SZ with the famous ‘mistress villages’. These are enclaves of ‘cheap’ condominiums horny Hongkong men house their sex slaves in relative luxury. During the Asian crisis years, Hong Kong was one of the harder hit economies and these HK providers deserted their love-toys in droves, leaving thousands of mainland women, by now well-used to the high living of the tai-tai’s, literally penniless.
