FREAK ENCOUNTER (CHAPTER 8)

We were very happy together, April and I, even we did not get more intimate than hugging and kissing each other. Everyday, I would rush home, yes, it was home and not just an apartment anymore. She brought me to eat at coffee shop, food center, fast food restaurants, food and places that I had not been for such a long time that I had almost forgot about their existences. I enjoyed looking at her enjoying her food, the way she gobbled, the way she used her back of her hands to clean her mouth, the way she held my palms with her two small little hands and smiled showing her dimpled cheeks, her sticking out her tongue teasing me cheekily.

She would also bring me the parks, playgrounds and sea sides, teasing and challenging each other who could reach a point faster, who could climb up the structure higher, who dared to swing higher, bouncing up and down on a sea saw, those things that she should have done but did not have the chance to enjoy during her childhood, she was almost like a child to me, seeking for the lost love and attention, our time together were very precious to me and I had enjoyed every moment of it, even though I hoped that our time together would never end.

After all the exhausting and fun activities, we would return home for shower, after which we would sit on the big sofa, she would cuddled in my arms to watch television, laughing heartedly or sobbing emotionally with the scenes. I would stole kisses on her, hugging her close to me.

I got a call from my overseas client to go over to negotiate a new contract, it would take me about one week. I was very unwilling but it was important so I had to take a flight there the next day. I knew April and I would miss each other, but this business was important to me.

When I reached home, she came running to me sobbing. How could she knew so fast that I had to be away, I wondered. Before I could asked, she said, “My mother just passed away.” “What ? How did it happen?” I asked. “She was diagnosed with fourth stage cancer last week and she passed away in the hospital this afternoon, I was at her bedside.” Tears flew down her cheeks.

“I am sorry, but I have to be away tomorrow for business for one week. I will call Turtle to help you.” We sat on the sofa, I kissed her tears away and held her tight in my arms, giving her the comfort until she finally dozed off.

I called Turtle to make all the necessary arrangements to help April and also to let Stephanie keep her company during my absence. “No problem, boss, everything will be arranged.” Turtle assured.

The following few days were agonizing, worrying about April and missing her at the same time. I called Turtle daily to check on April’s conditions and was glad that her mother’s funeral was all arranged smoothly and April’s had slowly overcame her grief, Stefanie was at her side all the time.

I hastened the negotiations, managed to get the contract signed within 5 days and rushed home, I missed April too much and just wanted to be at her side as soon as I could.

I reached home anxiously without announcing to April, hoping to give her a surprise. I was about to open her room door when I heard noises of her giggling and laughing, bouncing and creaking of the bed. I stood there for a while, astonished and furious. “How could you do such a thing to me when I am away? It would be the death of me if I caught you red handed” wild ideas ran through my mind. I tried at the door knob and it was not locked, I pushed it open slowly with fear, the fear of seeing something that I would not wish to see, and there she was bouncing up and down, her bed creaking nosily …..

hmmmmm.. Freak encounter right.. April Foo may turn out to be Catherine's gal gal.. or even his own unknown child with Catherine, sorry if I phua leng chwee...

Thanks to all the Bros here who have read, enjoyed, supported me and on top of it, upped my points.

I am quite tied up with my work for these two weeks but I will try to find time to continue with Chapter 9 .... please do be patient.

FREAK ENCOUNTER (CHAPTER 9)

I could see the shock in her eyes, and for a moment, she stopped bouncing on the bed. Suddenly, she ran and jumped on me, her hands around my neck and legs around my waist; like a koala bear hugging on the tree. Fortunately, she was light and we did not fell to the floor.

“Oh…. I thought you will only be home in 2 days’ time, I missed you very much.” She held me tight and kissed me intensely. “What are you doing, jumping on your bed?” I asked. “I had always like to jump on the bed when I am happy, you know, I just received a letter from the USA University and they have accepted my admission.” She replied.

For a moment, my heart sank, her admission into the USA University would mean that she would be leaving me in two months’ time. “Aren’t you happy for me? I know I will miss you when I am away but I have always wanted to do research in the causes of human illnesses and find cures for them.” She looked at me curiously. “Yes, I am happy for you and do hope your dreams will come true, but I am going to miss you too.” I said sadly.

She released me and held both of my hands, “You had a long flight back, go and get some sleep, we will discuss later.” And she led me to my room.

When I woke up, it was already dark, all seemed quiet. “Where is April ? Am I in a dream? “ I asked myself. I went to the living room, it was filled with soft music, the lights were dimmed, two candles and cutlery were laid on the dining table. I could hear sounds and approached the kitchen. I was surprised to see April cooking, I had never seen her cook before. I went behind her and put my arms around her waist, held her perspiring body tight against mine, nibbling at her earlobes and slowly down the neck, while she was still busy cooking. “I didn’t know you can cook.” I said. “Hey, it’s ticklish ...” She giggled, “I learnt some cooking when I was working in MacDonald, Stephanie also taught me when she was with me for the past few days, I hope it will be up to your tastebuds. I went to buy some steaks while you were asleep, dinner will be ready soon, just wait outside, ok, otherwise the food will be burnt.” She pushed me out of the kitchen.

It was the heartiest meal I ever had, not that she was a great cook but she cooked for me, and the ambience that she had created to welcome me home. After dinner and all the washing up, she cuddled in my arms once more on the big sofa.

“I will go to fill up the bath tub, I had bought some bath salt and essential oil to ease you..” She suddenly suggested. “OK, thanks for the marvelous dinner and will you share the bath with me ?” I teased her.

Her face reddened, jumped up and ran quickly to my bathroom, after a while, she came back and pulled me up from the sofa, “the water is ready, let’s go” and she led me to the bathroom.
