go south my friend. their accent is not as “翘” as compare to the north.

i have friends and family from the south coming to singapore and it not uncommon for local to say they does not sound like they are from china although they don't sound local.

are u sure u are not chinese? hear their accent can make your blood boil or u can't understand mandarin? can't understand your rationale leh. for me, it's the opposite, i prefer the way the northern chineses speaks, i can fully understand them (unless they were speaking their local dialects) as long as they were saying 普通话.

i fine with their accent no matter where they are from. except those that speak their dialects day in day out and when they speak 普通话 i can hardly get what they mean

still, i do accept some people find it kind of turn off. just like some people find some local trying to speak english with slang although in no way they are expose to such accent with disgust. it kind of a personal thing and i respect it.

Totally agree with you. Look at yesterday New Paper(dated 3 aug 2010). Typical greedy china girl trying to cheat all out of SG men. The china wife appeal against the judge decision and ask for more maintaince after divorce. Somemore judge order the man to pay the woman 10k more for the share of the house, despite all the evidence presented in the family court show that the wife is the wrong all along during marriage.

china gals in their late 20s are mostly hungry to get married. they will grab any decent looking singaporean man to get married. we had seen that when all things get screwed up, even by their own hands, they will emerge the winner.. They marry SG man because we are sexy, smart, and make great husbands. Love is not a business and I don't think the gals all have that in mind. Bro, I agreed with you . But the problem is that all those who marry China women experienced bad experiences and come in to SBF to share and learn those. Those who had married nice china brides dont or seldom come in to SBF as they are happily married and enjoying their married life !!!!!!!

I also hope to read some positive comments from those who are happily married with China brides, if you do visit SBF as there are too many negative news of china brides !!!!

Let me repeat the story of my friend. He met this China girl in London while they are studying there. She's damn pretty and rich. He's of middle income background. Singapore guy find the China girl stunningly pretty and demure. China girl found the Singapore guy mature (we are older due to NS) and secure (cos we can speak English as well as Mandarin, which is rare if you think about it). Imagine them on a date... Singaporean guy can speak good english <--- that's damn attractive to the China girl. She doesn't feel so lost in London.

Fast forward 5 years, they got married. China girl doesn't wish to live in Singapore. Singapore guy needs to look after his parents. So he flies often between China and Singapore. Due to his frequent flying, he can't hold a regular job here. China girl told him not to worry. She comes from a rich background and is the only child. She takes care of all his expenses. As friends, we kept nagging at him to settle down and hold a regular job. He got frustrated by our nagging and told us nicely that he actually doesn't need a job as his wife got US$ XXX million dollars in her bank. He saw her bank book. And that money is before any inheritance she might receive if her parents pass away. Her money comes from grey sources such as insider trading etc. China girl gets calls from brokers to buy certain stocks before they rise. Parents come from officials family background.

Regret Marrying A China Wife as in the title of this thread? I think my friend won't. Wife keep nagging him for kids somemore. Wife looks like Zhang Zi Yi. Is this a positive story? I really can't believe how lucky he is.
