Cheongsters who frequent Balai and regularly take ojek from the Balai jetty, you can also take taksi from the counter next to the money changer if you went in big groups. Cost will be RP 25,000.
When I went there with a few kakis on 2nd April, it was raining heavily. We could not take ojeks b'cos of the heavy rain. We also wans to avoid getting 'chop' by the touts waiting at the entrance / exit to the jetty. So I went over to the taksi counter and check with the lady there on the cost for taking a taksi to our hotel. She told us the cost is RP 25,000. We agreed to the price and proceed with the driver to his car.
During the journey to the hotel, the driver asked if we wan to book any gals. As we have been conned by those drivers who are waiting at the entrance to the jetty before, I am a bit skeptical when he pops the question. Seeing my hesitance, he assured me that we won't be charged comissions for the ceweks we booked. We will just pay him around RP 50,000 after he bring us to the villa and back to the hotel. He will also help to negotiate for us the price for booking ceweks stating he can get us our ceweks for the price of RP 160,000.
I got a few frens who have used the service of these drivers and they have all claimed it to be true. One of my fren told me dat they cannot anyhow 'chop' customers coz their taksi licenses will get revoked.
So, for all Balai brudders who likes to use taksi and wan to avoid getting 'chopped', try the taksi services at the jetty. It is a lot safer than using those touts waiting at the entrance / exit of the jetty.
