Same thought but what else can we do? I think the club wants to give the League Cup winning youngster a chance. We do need more squad depth for a long season. Not sure which of our players are involved for the Olympics too

Read that Mo Salah is being trained for the Bobby Firmino role.The strategy moving ahead may be more like Rafa's Liverpool. Midfield triangle with 2 deep sitting midfielders like Alonso and Mascherano. TAA has Alonso's passing range. Connor Bradley is a better right wingback than TAA.

Seriously though, think just have to accept this season is one of big change for the Reds.

Keep expectations low and hope for the best.

Big concern for me...VVD, TAA and MS into their final year of their contracts...also we still have not bought a solid DM, Endo is quite good but more squad player

Silly season now but there are reports Liverpool is offering VVD to Athletico Madrid, TAA to Real Madrid and Salah to Saudis.

Past reports suggest PSG will fail to meet Financial Fairplay because Mbappe left on a free. Liverpool will find it hard to replace the above 3 guys if they all leave on free transfers

Ya but this is the same across all top teams. Some may lose top players due to the Olympics too.

The Financial Fairplay calculation seems go work this way. Matip (free transfer in) - Matip (free transfer out) = no impact on finances

Keith ($50 million transfer in) - then free transfer out - then replaced by free Curtis Jones = $50 million deficit because we got no spent money back

VVD ($75 million transfer in) - if free transfer out - then replaced by say $50 million replacement = $125 million of expenses that we need to balance off from somewhere

Given that we spend 60% of our income on wages already, it will be hard to balance our books if TAA, VVD and Salah leave on free transfers and then we have to spend money on replacements

This Americans owners don't seems to be very much interested in investing in a squad to win trophies and titles, all I see are businessmen only interested in a constant rate of ROI..so as long as Liverpool keeps within calling distance of top 4 they are happy enough..
