Those 35 cases most came from the Minds home cluster, so i don't think that figure on its own is such a big worry.

Like i said in my earlier post above, what is more significant and critical is that almost all the Minds home related folks had already been fully vaccinated and following on, large majority infected were asymptomatic and all infected not seriously ill.

So vaccination is key to us opening up and returning to as normal a life as possible.

More good news, read in Saturday's ST on the vaccination front, seems like those with allergies and pregnant women may now take the Pfizer jab without any serious health safety concerns anymore.

today 7 community cases *phew* but yesterday got 35, govt usually looks at average trends and not specifically a particular day with alot of cases. hopefully 13th June can move to Phase 2 but these still a possibility the 2HA will extend till end June or till school holidays ends while they rush to vaccinate students during this period.

Firstly say wait 2 weeks, then 2nd jab. Now suddenly, wait 3 weeks or longer also can, in fact, encouraged.

Recently a retired doc came out to explain why mRNA vaccine may be losing effectiveness against new variant while the traditional dead-virus vaccine maintains its original efficacy. So far, I didn't see any refutation or official response against this latest claim...?

The number of cases fluctuate like playing stocks. I'm speculating there will be an extended lock down to keep cases and clusters under control.

The variant makes every vaccines less effective and even harder to trace and track.

Gov will likely extend the lockdown and open up slowly.

What one needs to understand and appreciate is that this covid situation is very fluid and dynamic....naturally this would then also apply to health protocols, medical therapy treatments, vaccines etc....also normal time frame to handle such issues usually span many years...here it is being done at a much faster pace because of the extreme serious world wide pandemic circumstances...

As for the vaccines currently approved...i say follow the objective science and balance the benefits and risks...thus far all roads to move on swiftly yet safely is via the vaccination drive(save for those not eligible based on current objective science)...

Let me also say this...i am not a medico...but i have read up on all 3 types of technologies used to make the currently approved vaccines...mrna (pfizer/moderna), viral vector(J&J/astra) and inactivated virus(sinovac)...also talked to numerous medicos and scientists on this as well...

The conclusion i have arrived on the vaccines thus far is this...efficacy, how much dosage, how long immunity lasts etc, these factors are fluid and dynamic because things are moving at such a rapid pace(see my comments above)...but...on the health safety aspect, seems clear to me that on the basic science used for all 3 types of vaccine technologies, they all appear to be safe without causing any serious illness with one caveat i e those with underlying medical conditions...

Bottom line currently the benefits of being vaccinated far outweigh the risks both for individual and the community...at best the vaccine does its job(max stops infection, min prevents serious illness/death) and at worst the vaccine does not do its job effectively but no other downside save for costs and inconvenience...small price to pay under the circumstances, no?

Note the Jews are very smart people and have already suffered a huge loss of life from the Holocaust, so i doubt Israel would risk harm to its entire population if it thought the vaccine was a health risk - Israel is one of the earliest country's to vaccinate its entire population save those not eligible due to medical concerns and seems like life there in general has returned to precovid normality save for border restrictions...

Take out the political animosity in America and i would say the same approach seems to be working there as well...so too the rich western european countries and the uk, to a certain extent at least...

So my stand is clear...everyone who is eligible to vaccinate must vaccinate promptly when given the opportunity...those who decide not to for whatever reasons, fine that is your right...but you do not have a right to be a burden to the rest of the community...so until a practical feasible solution is found, those who choose not to vaccinate must stay at home and be ring fenced, unfortunately same logic applies to those not eligible to vaccinate due to medical reasons...

A successful vaccination drive means the economy can begin to grow again with stability...this is vital for the community...

Seriously though, i would like to see the covid task force and the pm be more positive and optimistic as well...also lead with more confidence and be more robust...

Wish we had LKY in his prime in charge now...his was the type of decisive fearless strong leadership qualities which is sadly lacking but most required now...i am telling you if LKY was still around and in charge today, he would probably come out much stronger in pushing for the vaccination drive...perhaps even to the point of personally going down to each constituency to push for it...
