If we have a good team of class players, i.e. great wingers for balance, we can stick a striker up front. Just up front and wait for the ball (in Owen's case, to slip the ball through). No more of this going deep to get the ball (Kuyt can do that) or running to the flanks.
Again, not making any judgment on Owen's personality. Just what he can contribute to what we desperately need. Of course, E'to can do too, but what, $35m?
taking away usual moral sermons, yes, he could help pool out in that dimension. eto'o can do that too, for 35mil!!! (barca willing to sell meh?) but not that simple here...
michael owen needs playing time. will he be satisfied with being on the bench most of the time cos i foresee that rafa will play his preferred way first. if all else fails, then cue owen. wasnt that the initial reason why owen wanted to leave madrid in the first place?
but u have a point though about my bitter taste affect my opinion of owen...

why dont liverpool bring back cisse? he has scored plenty for marseille. i read today's straits times saying madrid still want rafa after being rejected twice! and rafa is frustrated with the lack spending support.
so rafa and wenger are not so happy now, jose and alex can take it easy after making lightning signings.

Do you know what you're talking about??
Do you even read the GA column in the EPL table?? Since you haven't, I'll have you informed that LFC's 27 is tied 2nd best with Manure while Vhelsea has the tightest defence at 24 ... take away the fact that both the other clubs have world-class keepers to keep their GA tally low, you wanna tell me it's our central defensive pair that let in silly goals??
Where were you when 3 howlers were gifted in Goodison?? Real fan, you say??

Real fan of who, I ask ... you probably mean real TNP fan!!!
There are 20 clubs in the EPL ... take away the regular 4, half of the remaining 16 haven't even got into Champions League qualification or either domestic cup final for decades - even wondered if it is not them who can only taunt "you are still the same as us, still haven't won the league"??
Euro Championship?? You can live another 200 years, LFC will still not be eligible to partake, not to mention winning the Euro Championship ... that's a competition which happens every 4 years & contested by the national teams of the European nations, for God's sake ... real fan?? My big fat ass!!!
You're not even fit to call yourself a mediocre fan of football!!!
LFC not doing well?? You think everywhere else it's like the PAP monopoly here or the Scottish league, where Celtic can reign supreme for 50 years??

Since 1892 (the year LFC was formed), LFC has won both the league & the European Cup in the same season on 2 occasions ('76/77 & '83/84), both the league & the FA Cup on 1 occasion ('85/86) ... in comparison, the 1st feat was achieved only by Manure (once) while the 2nd feat was equalled or bettered by only Arsenal, Spurs & Manure (yet not more than twice)!!! Can you dig the level of difficulty now??
Since your memory is also screwed, I suggest you switch to supporting Celtic instead ... they also get to sing YNWA in Parkhead & they also think Dalglish is bigger than God himself, plus they win titles & cups like nobody's business.
BTW, since you have such high standards, I guess you must be some big-time over-achiever in real life ... right, real fan??

marseille is playing champs league next season, so cisse should be quite happy there. watch out for nasri!

All that is true, Owen comes with a lot of baggage and very tender hamstrings.
But Rafa's CL win has woken up the world to what he can achieve with Pool. Owen is no fool, whatever else he is. He can see that the Pool he is looking at now is different from the one he left. Unless he wants to go Barca or Scum or Chelsea.

Heh, I write too much as it is.
Actually what pisses me off most is he writes off Carra and Agger and then praises Terry, Sol (FFS!), and Rio (FFS! x2). Best example of a fantasy football gamer if you ask me!

think about it, he is england's first choice striker... the so-called messiah, the one player who was so missed by steve mclaren... with bloated rep like that, he would want to be the first option for rafa.

well, again, if he wants to be a sub with pool, he would have stayed with real madrid in the 1st place. u r right, owen is no fool. cos he will demand first team football, not the super-sub when the chips r down. just my personal view.

but his howler that led to the 3rd goal... haiz!!! he is human after all.

u guys sure about rio ferdinand being one of the best defenders around??? this is objective criticism from me, not that he is from manure. i feel that he tries too hard to live up to the tag of having the potential of being a classy defender. he has to accept that he no longer has that tag nor the potential to be able to play classily out of defence and worse, dribble out of defence which he more often than not, loses the ball, concede a goal and end up looking more like a streetwalker on a slow nite...

Haha...where the hell did the last sentence come from? Classic!
IMO, objectively, Rio is a good defender but horribly overpriced and overpaid. I have not seen him bring the ball out of defence and score like Agger did.
Anyway this thing about classy defenders is over-rated. If forwards can lose the ball in attack, you can be sure a defender with the best ball skills will lose it 80% of the time. I'd much prefer a solid defender who reads the game well and is no-nonsense.

certainly very sad to know tat fowler will be gone from pool for good....wish he can stay another season, but guess rafa have other options he is looking at.....
of course u would love to see wenger go. duh...
wenger certainly have make arsenal play attacking game, but he seem to forget tat no matter how well the team pass, as long as they dun shoot and score they will not win :P its nice watching their game though....
cisse might not be at marseille next season though... but forgive me, the ignorant football fan, nasri? as in nasri nasir ah??? cant be right?
if i am not wrong, that nasri fellow played in the last french qualifier game, attacking mid, think should be ard 20 or so, if not wrong lar....young player certainly. but for sure not the singapore nasri nasir
