Hi,
You can get a pre-paid card from anywhere. But if you're afraid of getting ripped off, you can try any metro (MRT). Almost all stations sell China Mobile or China Unicom card.
Problem with pre-paid SIM card is that you can SMS overseas, but may not be able to call overseas. You can easily get over this by buying another IP card (Voice Over IP) card that allows you to call overseas, but not SMS overseas.
Go check out the wide range of functions and mix and match as it suits you.

3 years is not very long, just enough for you to get to know Shanghai.
I am sure you have already got your local mobile phone SIM card and have since been busy with all the ladies in town.
Don't complian too much lah, Shanghai or Qingpu is not that bad lah; I am sure you would not prefer to be post in other 3rd world country.

Ya! Ya! Three years later, do not feel like leaving. Me, slightly more than six years want to leave Shanghai long ago. After a while, Shanghai is really not that great! Expensive and Congested. If it is not because of my new company being set up in Shanghai, I would have moved to places like Chengdu already.

Get prepaid mobile. No guarantors needed. China Mobile or China Unicom. Even within each providor there are several kinds of accounts. I have 2 myself.

Too bad the disco at Galaxy closed down. It used to be one of the most happening places in shanghai a couple of years back. Nevermind, you are a stone's throw to HongQiao road and a short taxi ride to Hengshan road and maoming road. Have fun and welcome to SH. I am contemplating a move to Chongqing tho but very undecided now.

Why, sick of HZ already? Actually I am contemplating two places, Chengdu and Xian. Both are happening places with the former one being my favourite. I scored more in Chengdu than in Chongqing. But, the company in Shanghai has just been setup, have to stay here for another three years.. Sigh... Luckily, the brothers in Shanghai are quite fun and supportive.

I am fine, moving house soon.
The fact that I said I am taxi driver, because I may know the street directions and places, what is happening inside each building is unknown to me, so I cannot give much recommendation to fellows bros here. So you should not feel bad. On top of that we were heading towards the same direction.
